I would say, SHAME on France, and I am French. Shame of général De Gaulle who used Harkis fighters - Arab fighters who fought for France against other Arabs who fought for independance. Of course for Arabs Harkis were traitors, as in France during WW2, those French who collaborated with Germans were also traitors. I don't blame the Algerians who hated Harkis, this was perfectly normal, from their point of view, and mine too. But De Gaulle PROMISED to take them out of Algeria once the war finished. OK, some of them were finally permitted to come to France, but after two years of slaughters by their fellow citizens. This film is very brave because it shows France and its own shame, its own disgrace. De Gaulle promised something that he never held in the end, provoking thousands of murders, massacres, tortures for those who fought for France. Philippe Faucon is a French movie director and great specialist of War in Algeria, no matter the political correct. He totally ignores it. Great and brave film maker. As Yves Boisset was.
