Episode 7

Warning: Spoilers
They are going back and forth and teasing so many things only to cut them off at the legs with them being John Weir's "visions". I don't know if that is the best long-term plan but we'll see.

With just one episode left this season it felt like they were rushing quite a few things and other interesting questions may never see the time of day.

The show is interesting, but it feels a bit too distant from reality. It is hard to sell hard-working Americans on billion dollar analytics companies because I do not feel like this is the kind of thing that a large portion of the country can actually relate to.

Strong misdirection

Warning: Spoilers
This is an episode heavy in misdirection, but the show has done a good job selling the paranoia and red herrings. Dance's monologue at the end was solid, and I'm looking forward to seeing how this show resolves next week.

I'm not sold on some of the plot devices or character actions. How would John know to break the tablet? Why not just release the incriminating evidence to every major news outlet? I'm not fully buying the inaction of the protagonists in this episode, but maybe there's more that meets the eyes. It's a minor nitpick, though - for shows like this you strap in and go along for the ride.

It's a pity that nobody is watching it though. You would think that a spy thriller with Sutherland and Dance would be getting more traction. Perhaps it's marketing or perhaps it's the zeitgeist. This show would've done really well 15-20 years ago. Oh well.

Season 1 Episode 7
CommanderCobra4 May 2023
This show is very complicated. 7 out of 8 episodes in and it's hard to explain in a sentence exactly what it's about. You should be able to sum it up in a sentence, and I guess if I was trying to do that it would be: Kiefer Sutherland is on the run as he tries to understand just who exactly it is that's trying to frame him. Another knock, it's pretty unrealistic, the most wanted man in America is walking into high rises and such. Charles Dance is great, about the only bright spot but the writing is all over the place. I'll stick around for season finale episode 8 , but I don't know that Paramount+ will stick around for season 2.

Rabbit Hole wants to be convoluted. Display red herrings but always come across as just treading water.

The penultimate episode hints that John Weir is losing it. That he is on the edge of his sanity. It leads to the confession scene in the church that led to the opening of the first episode.

His old friend Miles Valence could still be alive. Even though he jumped to his death in front of John.

That John's father Ben has been pulling the strings all along. He is behind the passing of the Shared data Act.

Crowley the antagonist of the show. Now wants to be on John's side as he tries to turn John against his father. Maybe he is still playing games?

The final episode will have several twists that is guaranteed. It is in the DNA of these type of conspiracy thrillers. Unfortunately Rabbit Hole has never soared as it heads towards its conclusion.
