The range of emotions I experienced this episode were unbelievable. From smiling away to Orla living her best life at the beginning, to absolutely sobbing in the last 10 minutes. The experiences that the people of NI must have had are conveyed in this episode so successfully. Impeccable writing, impactful acting and an ingenious finale.

The Derry Girls have always been an absolute delight to watch.
Outstanding writing; Outstanding acting; very funny; and relevant!
The last episode was all of that, plus more!
Absolute perfect end of the greatest comedy produced in the last 10 years!

Right from the opening scenes of Orla dancing through the streets of Derry to Dario G's 'Sunchyme' right through to the poignant end montage as we bid the gang farewell, this was as good a send off we could hope for.
A sign of a great comic series. Laughing at one scene, tearing up the next. Time and again, Derry Girls would do that. One of the best shows of recent times.

Fantastic end and Fantastic Saorise Jackson

I loved the last episode and the way they ended it with Erin's monologue, the same way they started it.
Saorise Jackson was just brilliant with her acting range, she just rules Season 3 and her performance was top notch this episode. My rewatch of Season 1 and 2 is usually for Sister Michael and Michelle but this one belongs to Erin. The scene she looks down at Michelle from Jenny's balcony was so well acted.

I don't want it to end! Derry girls never disappoint. Their accent and ability to spin an ordinary thing out of proportion have me cracking so bad. And I enjoy seeing their strong friendship and how they always look out for each other. I especially like and relatable to Clare this season. She's a star! And Sister Michael just never fail to make me laugh with her cold bloodedness XD.
A perfect and beautiful ending to the story

I definitely don't understand the hate towards this particular season. It was fun and funny and poignant, and it wrapped up very nicely for a series finale. I think the writers and creator did a fantastic job with the characters and their respective arcs. The show stayed true to itself being the broad comedy it always was, but also added some tragedy in season 3, along with its always-factual and concurrent historical events. I thought the series finale was particularly lovely in its subject matter and resolve.
I can only hope that maybe - 10 to 20 years down the road - we see the characters again.

How so invested in such a short series?

I have a friends in Northern Ireland and have visited Derry. I spent enough time with them that I have a pretty good handle on the events, their timing, and impact. All that aside I just felt involved with the characters and their direction.
I was happy to see a wrap up episode instead of just ending a series that was already too short. It gave us an ending and still gave us the open feeling that someday more might come.
Knowing this was a local production (really Netflix "original") I really want to see more of local Irish television, these actors, writers, and producers. High hopes there is more of this line of comedy out there.

I know this show is mostly a comedy, but...

...the last part of this final episode was beautiful. The Troubles had affected these girls' entire lives, and finally, here was a chance for NI and the Republic to make a new start that could create better lives for children to come. Yet the show didn't shy away from addressing the emotional difficulty of voting "Yes" on the Good Friday Agreement: would that be letting people off the hook for their violent actions? It was poignant to see various characters wrestling with that decision.
And I thought the final scene was sweet. I understand the complaints about the stunt casting this season (especially in episode 1), but that last cameo brought a previous storyline to a charming close.

Solid But Disappointing Finale

At times this show could be a little caught up in "the messages" and lose a little of the natural humor from the characters. The finale was by no means bad, but wasn't all that funny and the heavy hand of the writers was a little too obvious. Especially the final scene at the end, which doesn't make too much sense other than as a pat on the back of the showrunner. The high points of Derry Girls were extremely high, though, even if this episode didn't quite reach them. Even the third season had some standout moments, the moms episode was pretty stellar, giving a whole new side to familiar characters in a way that was sentimental but didn't lose any of the raw humor that the show had when it is running on all cylinders.
Disappointing

Derry Girls was an excellent series but the final episode was a disappointment. No laughs, maudlin and boring.
Why was Ardal O'Hanlon introduced? His character added nothing to the show. Liam Neeson got another look in after his appearance in episode 1 but again added nothing.
The only high point was Kevin McAleers appearance in his always scene stealing and completely under utilised role as the boring uncle.
I'll miss Derry Girls and I'll certainly rewatch it in the coming years but this was a poor finish.

Sorry to See It Go

It's probably best that it end here. There are some wonderful moments. One is an extended view of Orla (who is a great character) dancing her way down the streets. When she meets a group of little dancing girls and joins them, it is visually delightful. This leads to her birthday party, which is celebrated jointly with Erin. They can't agree on a theme because one of them wants Monkeys and the other British literary figures. During all this, people are awaiting a vote on an end to fighting in Northern Ireland. The key issue is who should be set free after committing murder and other crimes. Much of this takes place at Jenny Joyce's opulent party where some profound, insightful conclusions are reached, and where the friends come to know why they have each others.
The series' comedy is broad, but it's a nice, pleasant watch
TheSpiritOfTheTimes12 June 2022
The comedy is very broad, the performances are very broad, but it's more than the sum of its parts. The novelty and the interesting part is that it's set in Northern Ireland against the denouement of the conflict; the lead, the father and the nun are the standouts. The coda is also nice and correct.

A decent ending
bisslestefan8 October 2022
This episode wasn't very episodic for the finale of a show of which I have experienced many hardy laughs and am sad to see end. Attempting to push, albeit cleverly subtly, multiple agendas, when they should have focused more on the immediate future these girls would be facing. Pick a lane and continue with it, don't insert slight insinuations here and there to ensure your program will pass the litmus test of what is acceptable. Yes, the intended overall focus was the good Friday agreement but to focus on how each one was going to vote and then reveal the obvious is pretty boring. But I guess that's what happens when you know your show has reached its last leg.
