Unoriginal
Shoebarno23 May 2022
The animation is good, as always. But the message is preachy and unoriginal.

The joke might have been funny 5 to 10 years ago but by now they are quite overdone.

Fair message, though.

Animation was great, but message too preachy
rick7475-678-68716421 May 2022
While I enjoyed the animation which was superb, I felt the message about negligent humanity was just a little too preachy for my taste. I did like the ending. I certainly believe humankind needs to do more for environmental stewardship, but this short was just repeating the message over and over again, I mean I get it.

Truth be told
MovieMattic20 May 2022
A bit of a low-key first episode, but these robots have been in every single season so far so I was very happy to see them again. Truth be told, they tell the truth about what could happen to humanity if we do not change our ways.

Amusing enough...
GreyHunter20 May 2022
The episode's politics pretty much skewered modern views with accurate scorn. But the writing was entirely too didactic and lacking in subtlety. Just being on-point isn't enough -- the writing also needs to have an element of actual narrative rather than just going from one observation to the next and having the characters expostulate on the ideas.

It wasn't a bad episode, but it felt like the writers didn't put much effort into the dialogue, choosing instead to just have the characters pontificate. That makes for a boring story.

On The Nose, but Hilarious
nebula002416 October 2022
Ok, come on reviewers! A lot of people are being pretty critical of this one, but they're failing to remember one thing: it's just a short! In this format, the "one-the-nose", hyperbolic and over-the-top storytelling here is perfect. The timing of the humor here, tied with the master-class level of timing in the animation itself is absolute perfection. Are they sending a message here? Absolutely. Are they making fun of all sides of the "spectrum"? Oh heck yeah. Lighten up a bit and enjoy this for what it is. At this point I'm just typing additional characters to make up for the minimum character limit. Oh, there we go! All done. Go check it out!

A worthy follow up
thefoochie20 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This was a great sequel to one of the best season 1 episodes. I'm glad this is the episode they chose to expand upon. I like how it explored how each social class had a different method of surviving the end of the world. The "extreme democracy" part was morbid but hysterical. The episode felt a bit preachy at times, it felt like the message was just "billionaires bad" with no depth. That didn't bother me too much, cause the hilarious ending made up for it. I was wondering if we would ever see Chris Parnell's cat again!

So Fun They're Back
At this point, just give these trio a show. The dynamic of these characters is insane and I wouldn't mind seeing them in every season. Great insight and social commentary about human greed.

"Who were you expecting?"
keonir22 May 2022
The 3 robo dorks of the near future are back! I had fun with this short it made me laugh so much. I love the heavy handed message the short wants to convey & it didn't feel in your face because you have the self-aware robot commentary. I loved the call backs & subversions from the first short be brought back. The ending was obvious but for all the right reasons. Fun & a little stupid its a good short to start off the season.

Satire & ending on point.
robinmithoff20 May 2022
It's not a spectacular firework but it concludes the first "three Robots" episode quite well. It's at the same level as the first one was but with they pokeda some more of humanities problems nowadays.

Decent concept. No story whatsoever
classic-henry22 May 2022
This script is a barely veiled vehicle for an important message, but the writer is so up his own ... head that he forgot to make it interesting. Any questions he raises the characters answer immediately through dialogue (rather than action or implication or anything else that would actually engage the viewer).

The characters themselves are a loose collection of quirks and slightly discernible speech patterns. I hope Gary Anthony Williams, et. Al. Got decent paychecks for this short because it is a complete waste of their talent.

Animation looks cool tho.

Upsettingly accurate commentary on humankind
nfjhhmhn2 June 2022
Not much else to say. From doomsday-preppers to tech millionaires and heads of state to the ultra-rich, this episode shines a light humanity's narcissistic tendencies and serves as a cautionary tale about where we're headed if we can't learn to think bigger than ourselves.

Reviewers show their stupidity
bnevs1815 August 2022
How many of the 'helpful' reviewers here didnt even watch the entire episode, and how many just missed THE FREAKING POINT!!!

Did you all just miss the line where the robots comment about how the death of the humans wasnt ecological disaster? How many of you snowflakes stopped watching in the first act when they were aping survivalists and missed the fact that humanity died because the robots rose up? How many braindead idiots didnt notice that the earth post-apoc wasnt an ecological disaster zone?

These reviews are a perfect example of how our current political discourse has completely lobotomized people. Where anything other than "other side bad, your side good!" is met with derision.

Condescending
The_Grooves20 May 2022
Satire should be, in my opinion, subtle. This episode is the opposite of that. It's moralizing, its message is ham-fisted, its righteousness is so much "in-your-face" that it's more annoying and insulting than funny. A shame. Was expecting some traces of smart writing, not this morality fable for kindergartners.

It's the end of the world as we know it . . .
southdavid5 July 2022
Netflix's "Love, Death and Robots" series returns for a Third run. Overall, I enjoyed the first two seasons and wrote short individual reviews for each episode and I think I'll take the same approach here.

Three Robots, K-VRC (Josh Brener), XBOT 4000 (Gary Anthony Williams) and Elena (Katie Lowes) continue to explore the planet Earth, following cataclysmic events. This time though, they're focused on the ways Human's looked to avoid their demise, be is isolationism, exclusivity or fleeing the planet.

For the first time in "Love, Death and Robots" we see a sequel, as these characters were exploring a ruined Earth back in season one. It's the same animation style but the style of joke is a bit different - last time it was more about the way anthropologists work - this time it's more targeted directly at the uselessness or selfishness of various sections of society, in current society.

As before it's not hilariously funny throughout, but it has its moments and it was nice to see the characters again.

Satire
baldragon20 May 2022
Some people reviewing this episode, wouldn't recognise satire when it smacks them in the face. It's full of the usual clichés and touches on those popular subjects. But it's a satire as opposed to any liberal message. Great episode!

Entertaining although a little over messaged
bobetjo1 June 2022
The three robots are excellently portrayed and very humourous. The show has high production value and is genuinely entertaining. The political messaging about billionaires was absolutely correct but overdone. The audience are likely to be already on board.

That said, I would watch more.

If you felt triggered watching this episode, just stop watching the show
ivanmerico22 May 2022
The three robots were one of my favourites episodes on this show, and watching their come back made me very happy. It's also very funny how it triggered the conservatives and made them mad enough to rate a low score to this episode, just because they say obvious things that conservatives don't want to accept, hilarious.

Based on a typical sarcastic John Scalzi Story
antm-1222626 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The unmistakable Scalzi sarcasm with which he comments on the insane self-extinction of man. In the end, only a certain species survives... but see for yourself!

Can people stop seeing this episode as more than it is?
chinbagdeluxe26 May 2022
Yes, it's about climate change, and no, climate change is not "leftist." But that doesn't matter, what matters is that it's an interesting and funny look at how different humans react to an apocalypse. It made me laugh, and the depictions shown actually made sense. That's the point, it's a comedy, where the message comes second. Come on people, it's still funny enough to be more than 3/10.

There is no smartness to be found here. Extremely preachy message that you have heard 20.000 times already. There is no subtlety. Very annoying because I liked the gritty atmosphere of the art style.

Beautiful satire.
david_tapi25 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This was wonderfull, because not only the satire the follow up or the animation.

This was a slap in the face for humanity and all the arrogance we seem to forget, okay i admit the cat ending was again a funny twist but is was entertaining and a bit (or a lot) truthful.

We strive to look up at "superiors" and in the end that would be our downfall.

I enjoyed this so much because it was again a true fallout ending.

10/10 for me!

The third season begins with a bang with this very nice episode about the end of humanity that explains to us in an ironic way how humans reacted to the end of the world.

10 minutes of sarcasm toward Elon Musk
salehisarvenaz3 June 2022
It was funny and shocking as is expected from a good episode of death, love, Robots. Although Im not against mankind trying to reach outer space, Pointing out the real issues is what we need rn.

Funny and smart satire.
I loved the social commentary, satire on this one. It hits home on many of the problems we face today. I have been critical of Elon's Mars colonization idea for a few years and have said in other social networks years ago that it made no sense to try to revive a dead planet instead of fixing the current one we are living. Then these robots drive that point home with better humor than I could have come up with. If we can't fix this blue marble we live on today, there won't be a chance we will turn that red-orange planet into a livable place in our existence. I don't care how many PhD in Aerospace and Science they have.

More talking cats, less freshman-year PoliSci. Please.
noxaman24 May 2022
The first Three Robots script was funny with a bit of politics, this one is politics with a bit of funny. The boot-licking message of the first act was just out of place with the anti-government message of the third act.

I would love a whole series of Three Robots, if this studio would just lean into the "R-rated Wall-E" theme, and give up on trying to pass their short films as insightful.
