Here's the thing.

Warning: Spoilers
I love this show. I'm going to watch it until they take it off the air. But after not getting to see the season four finale in the states, which sucked, I though this episode would bring the heat and drama. Literally the only exciting part was when they did the aerial view of OA running from the SUV. That's it. I love Missy. I watched her in Rookie Blue faithfully. I think she adds to FBI but it's been okay when she was unable to film too. This episode just wasn't it. It felt like we were missing some context with Jubal and his son and their dynamic. Maybe we would have that context if they ever released season 4's finale... but this felt like a run of the mill, week 5, throw away episode. Oh there's a bomb! Never mind, it's over there! *runs* oh yea, here it is but you're SOL BYEEE.. what?! You're bomb technicians. I don't expect actual bomb techs to perform miracles but this is TV. I don't need it to be realistic. This was just a dud for me. Hopefully others found more enjoyment. But I nearly fell asleep. Which wouldn't be that big of a deal if I wasn't a legitimate insomniac. If you only knew what all it took for me to fall asleep then you'd understand. Now when I need to sleep, I'll know I can just turn in the season five opener of FBI and I'll be out like a light. Fingers crossed that this was a one off and the season improves going forward.

A couple of unrealistic scenes
barr-1257628 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
FBI is one of my favorite shows. I like the characters and how they have been developed. OA and Jubil are my favorite. The stories in the past have been realistic and believable. However the first episode of the new season had parts that were not very realistic. After the bomb squad left there was about 4 min on the timer before the bomb exploded. OA hesitates and considers moving the bomb, but partner convinces him to leave. He goes out of the basement and then decides to go back to the basement. He gives keys to his partner and tells her to pull the car up. He returns to the basement and timer has less than 2 min on it. He picks up the bomb and gets it from the basement to the car. He drives the car away from the building for quite a distance and at a high rate of speed. He jumps from the car as it speeds down the road. Wonder what happens to the body as one jumps from a car doing 60MPH? So, do not think this could have been done. The second thing I noticed is after the suspect got into the car and threatened to kill th kid that was in the car the Agents were pretty close and around the car. The suspect then pointed the gun away from the kid and got out of car slightly and pointed gun in air in a threatening way. Why was he not shot at this point?

Generally it was a good story and I enjoyed it.

Missing Missy's Maggie On There
shelbythuylinh27 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Know that she just had her second baby but really love Maggie as she is the moral conscience and emotional leader of the group aka the de facto leader you can say.

As that we are dealing in this episode with a bomb. And how it is usually Maggie that saves the day but it is OA that really at times can be underused due to Maggie but he proves he holds his own there.

Risking his life and others around him in order to defuse the bomb. When you think you know it all there, but that we get a "gotcha" moment along the way there as it is not in the hands of the would be suspect but in another suspect, the main villain in the case of the week.

I have no problems with Tiffany though have had my love-hate relationship with Stuart. Guy thinks he is smart but comes off as smug.

Improbable story.
signsteele22 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
It was poorly conceived, the psychology doesn't fit the crime(s). That is the initial part of the episode that made you think they'd lost the plot.

Spoilers ahead:

The bomb is just left in plain sight after all that work to get the bomb and plant it. Then the agents don't take the bomb expert's trained opinion and they stay with the bomb discussing what to do, start to leave by climbing up the stairs, then stupidly decide to go back down. At this point they've wasted enough time that it's totally ludicrous that they could pull a vehicle up, get the bomb loaded and then drive it far enough to save everyone. All I thought throughout this episode was that the writers either ran out of material or were pushed to write an episode that's premise made no sense so they decided to make the whole thing so ridiculous it's almost funny.

Very disappointed. This season has nowhere to go but up.

Show has jumped the shark
tkyoung196221 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Predictable and ridiculous. We all knew that OA was not going to listen to anyone so that he could be the hero. First, when OA was making the deal for buying a bomb, the guy selling the bomb insisted that he had to drive to the location to get the bomb. OA was not supposed to get in the car, everyone is yelling in his earpiece not to get in the car. What does OA do? He gets in the car. At the end, when they finally find the bomb, the bomb is set to go off in 11 minutes. The bomb tech says it cannot be defused in time and that everyone needs to evacuate. Of course you know that OA is not going to listen, so he wastes several minutes trying to decide how to defuse it. Finally, he decides to listen to everyone to evacuate, but nooo, he has a better idea. Even though the bomb tech said that the bomb may have a motion switch, OA decides he is going to load the bomb in the front seat of the car and drive it away from everyone. Of course, once again he is "ordered" not to do it, but his ego gets in the way of sound waves reaching his brain. At the last minute he punches the gas to get the car going as fast as he can and jumps with 15 seconds left. Of course he hops up and starts running away so that this mega bomb will not blow him up too. The explosion goes up about 30 feet up in the air, but OA is unharmed because he conveniently ducks into an alcove. OA has saved the day again. They have really ruined a good show with "superman OA".

Like another commenter, I'm starting to think I've seen too many Dick Wolf Shows/
puddintane29 September 2022
I see no need to repeat the criticism of the other reviews here. I agree.

It seems writers are not doing both independent thinking and research to bring us fresh content. Worse, they repeat the same idiotic mistakes like calling out a suspect's name from a distance sufficient for them to run away. No. Also, I seriously doubt feds would leave the rear exits or other escape routes uncovered most of the time. No.

But, riddle me this: Why do nearly ALL BOMBERS take extra time to put a LARGE DISPLAY with the countdown? Every. Bomb. Every. Time?

PUHLEEZZZEEE!

And I have a real doubt they are nice enough to use STANDARD, COLORED WIRING. "Clip the blue wire." "THEY'RE ALL YELLOW!?"

There are so many ways that a device can be rigged to detect tampering that no human should ever approach a device without using robots or small drones to first examine it. It would appear that defusing any device in situ by even touching it is so last century.

I welcome real EOD and techs to reply.

Still very much a fan. Please do better?

Show some creativity
alkaniner23 September 2022
Maybe I watch too many Dick Wolf shows. Can't tell them apart anymore. Catastrophic bombs, last second defusing by the hero, every other show has a hostage situation, or drug kingpins and cartels. FBI, Most Wanted, International, Chicago PD, Organized Crime, can't remember the last episode that stood out. Even first episode of Special Victims Unit has a bomb. For the first episodes of the new season, this is the best they can come up with? No wonder NBC is thinking of getting rid of the last hour. Pretty much done with all of them. And with all the FBI scandals lately, a lot of people have lost faith and credibility with the FBI.

Ridiculous
bcowan-6409726 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This show has started off its new season very badly, with a script that has a major character do absolutely unrealistic things. Had there been a motion trigger, like the bomb squad guy suspected, OA would have killed everyone by causing the bomb to go off several minutes early. He also ignored direct orders from his superior. The OA character would have been suspended or fired. The capture of the bomber also missed several opportunities to end the confrontation early, so they could prolong this situation for the final showdown. If this show is going to continue to write ridiculous stuff like this, I'm done.

CBS continues to prove it is the worst network
CrimeDrama121 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
After the way CBS handled the season 4 finale of "FBI", I considered boycotting the show but I wanted to see Agent Maggie Bell's return. I also wanted to see if there was any explanation, apology or reference to the Uvalde, Texas massacre. There was nothing and Bell was not back at the start of the episode. However, because she was featured in promos leading up to the season premiere I thought she would make a cameo. The actress never appeared even though she was listed in the opening credits. What gives? It makes me wonder if the bomb disposal scene with Omar (previously done by Bell) was a tip-of-the-hat to her. I found the suspect's continued elusiveness to be ridiculous. Even after the bomb explodes and danger is averted, the FBI cannot find and apprehend the suspect, Nathan. He is able to flee, with gun in hand, separate a man from his son and carjack them with the boy still in the car. The FBI are made to look weak in this episode. It's hard to believe that wasn't CBS's intention. A political statement? A bomb tech who gives up over something unconfirmed? That is downright absurd. I should have boycotted the show.

Longest 27 seconds
paul_oakley-932-99059917 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Completely ridiculous. I understand artistic licence but this was just plain stupid. I actually timed from when OA was in the car with the bomb showing 27 seconds. To the bombs explosion. In real time it was 41 seconds. Not to mention how OA managed to get from the basement to the car in less than a minute.

For me the character of OA spoils the show, I like a maverick. But this guy disobeys orders and gets things wrong frequently. He's biased and judgmental. I can't see how he would've passed a psych evaluation to get the job in the first place. He completely disregarded orders to evacuate. Refused to listen to the bomb expert who said the bomb may have a motion sensor which would blow them all sky high. No, OA picks the bag up so he can play the hero. I'm sure he would be dismissed in reality, or even in a tv show that had any kind of pretence to realism. This show has lost all its credibility for me.
