Off Their Game - Decent Concept Disappointing Execution
gpeevers24 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
For a first episode of the season I was bothered by the fact that the agents were off their game over and over again.

The first perpetrator- the bomber escapes because they didn't properly clear the building and then he took a hostage when they couldn't contain him - and they were forced to kill him.

The second suspect kills an FBI Agent in a surveilled location and also escaped. After which they interview someone who turns out to be his accomplice and release her before checking her background.

Later the office based agents who are definitely having a better day locate the perpetrator again. But he again escapes and activates a timer based explosive. Once again he is chased into a building - takes hostages and surprisingly escapes once more - into another room with more hostages.

In the meantime the FBI bomb expert begins his work on the bomb with over 3 minutes on the timer. Don't ask why the bomb has digital countdown.

Agent Zidan calls for everyone to clear the area - and barricades magically appear less than 20 feet away with lots of onlookers. Then he says if the bomb cannot be defused then they need to evacuate the area - and the bomb expert says its too late for that - what?. Short time later after bomb expert said it was too late to evacuate timer there is still over 2 minutes and plenty of onlookers who are still less than 20 feet away. Later the timer is down to 8 seconds and bomb expert clips the blue wire, yay?

Back to the suspect - office agents stream video of suspect to field agents outside the door - it shows suspect and hostages. But then the agents discuss a plan and all take their eyes of the tablet showing suspect and hostages - and when they look again at the tablet which is still in Maggie's hand - the suspect has disappeared - WHAT?.

The FBI enter the room and suddenly the suspect escapes out another door of the building which apparently was also not cordoned off? Agent Wallace pursues alone - bringing into question where everybody else is now. Agent Wallace is clipped by a van and the suspect disappears on the non- barricaded streets.

Hopefully they will be more successful next time around and stop him.

I like the show and the characters - but that was a bit disappointing.

Good if predicable
user-3558318 February 2024
I'm a long time watcher of the FBI series of programs. I tend to enjoy them all as the production values are solid and the cast are pretty good too. My only issue with the show along with its sister shows is that they are often too predictable. They tend to telegraph plot points such as "the suspect must to be taken alive. Usually means the suspect is going to get shot dead somehow. Or the one where you're returning an officer to active duty who hasn't been on the street in a while and you're worried he's gonna get hurt. Of course he's gonna get hurt or die. Then throw in the usual foot chase in which the suspect escapes the first time...somehow. I understand it's a procedural, but let's not be soooo procedural.

End of FBI for me
sjspode20 April 2024
Well I gave the programme another go, with the first episode of this new season / series, but sadly there's no evidence of it improving on the continued decline of recent seasons, and there's plenty of other options to spend the time watching.

It's a shame that a show that was decent in early years has deteriorated so much, but guess theres only so many good stories out there. And the cast can only deal with what they get handed.

The main complaint has been the basic procedural errors that the characters made in their daily operations. Shouting 'stop' to suspects from a distance that gives them a good 100 yard start, going into situations without backup, and miraculously always knowing where the suspect is heading in a maze of streets, alleys, corridors etc so that agent #2 can take out the bad person with a tackle or clothes line arm.

Then you add in the number of episodes in the last series where an issue in a main characters life is directly reflected in the crime / criminal that is being investigated. Too same-y, so thanks for some good stories in the early years but this has run it's course for me.

FBI is back?- but writing is still beh
smoon-3778912 March 2024
Look - PC dialogue aside (Dick Wolf is gonna get his agenda pushed in these shows) - I enjoy watching these cat and mouse shows. That being said the writing continues to be bland and repetative. I enjoy they are focusing more on other characters as OA and Maggie get real old at times. That being said I am strictly giving this episode a 5/10 solely on the fact the whole "bomb" scene is so unrealistic. In no way shape or form would they allow citizens to be remotely close or would the FBI and other officials just be standing near the bomb. Protocol would have had a bomb tech in a bomb suit OR a robot to disarm the bomb. Also - FBI leaked that there was going to be a death - I knew it was gonna be one of the background members - whether it was Hobbs or Ian or Moran.

Parade of Tropes
bozo_z_clown16 February 2024
This episode is just a rapid fire parade of tropes: agent who should be recused who throws numerous red flags proving same, terrorist stereotypes, calling out to suspects on the street when they are too far away resulting in a foot chase, nonsensical bomb defusing, several attempts at capturing a suspect that fail for reasons that should get someone summarily fired, completely ignoring an imminent bomb explosion, artificially created drama between characters that is totally unprofessional, etc. I doubt I'll bother watching any more FBI which is a pity since I've seen all the episodes up until now (though it was getting progressively harder to watch last season).

Crock

Warning: Spoilers
Terrorists from Africa blow up a bus full of people. The FBI pretends it is probably some white guy from a local church group and goes in all the wrong directions, with Scola taking the lead as official apologist for the Anglos and non-minorities.

After Scola gets benched for being too much of a wimp, the team goes undercover at the local Ethiopian restaurant and a detective gets killed as soon as he orders lunch. Like usual, when the terrorist shoots at the FBI, they all tell him to give up.

Zeeko makes a lot of remarks about how everyone from his part of the world is a librarian or comic book collector, not a villain. Like usual, the FBI is five steps behind the curve. The restaurant owner that they trusted turns out to be one of the terrorists. Missy tells everyone to be sensitive not to profile the terrorists, and Sisto urges caution in jumping to conclusions.

It goes downhill from there, as Wallace tries once again to emote compassion, sympathy, or sadness and cannot get there. The bad guy gets away when Wallace runs in front of a van and gets clipped. He actually looks back at her and laughs.

Everyone at the FBI office gets to hear career failure Sisto shout that they are doing something good, but nobody is sure what. The computer guy cries when Hobbs dies. Later in the garage they all gather for an impromptu memorial to emote about how Hobbs was an inspiration to them. Are they are afraid to go to a proper restuarant since they know the terrorist / bomber is still out there? Wallace tries to cry again, and manages to grimace.

Getting Worse
paul_oakley-932-99059921 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I always have high hopes for this show and it constantly lets me down. These agents are supposed to be highly trained specialists. They run around like headless chickens.

They go to an address to apprehend a bombing suspect, enter the premises without securing all the exits. Allowing the suspect to escape.

A bomb expert trying to defuse a bomb with FBI agents looking over his shoulder, countless police officers less than 10 feet away and the general public watching from across the street. Even though they said the area needed to be cleared Also, why do they always kill their suspects. Can't they shoot them in the legs to disable them? If they're such good marksmen that they always manage a kill shot, surely they could bring a suspect down without killing them.

As usual rogue agent OA taking the moral high ground because a suspect was described as Middle Easter looking. OA forever taking things into his own hands and disobeying direct orders, would've beer fired by now.

And of course the shouting at a suspect when he's across the street. Giving him ample time to escape.

Bad Joke
Good_Guy7721 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Wallace gets another officer killed. Second time she is partnered up with someone that ends up dying. The first one was her informant friend last season. Now its two.

As tradition dictates, she goes on a rampage to avenge the death. As usual, Missy runs around letting everyone know that they have to be professional, and that Wallace needs to calm down. What a drag she is on this show.

Zeeko Zacko who plays OA gives another speech about his people not being terrorists, even though they are. This show is like some kind of politically correct propaganda class. At least for the first time in about five seasons, the bomber was not an Aryan skinhead.

That this shows the F b I agents to be is an emparasment period when are they gonna analyze these before they put them on with actual f b I people to take a look at them and tell them how ridiculous the writing is. Shame on you guys for even putting this on the screen.

Been away for almost a year and nothing has changed
CrimeDrama119 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I watched the FBI season 5 finale when it aired last May but haven't had a TV in months and I just got Paramount Plus on my phone. I didn't miss anything. Literally, zero improvement with this show. The biggest problem I have with this episode is the bad guy gets away ONLY because the FBI failed. Why didn't the FBI use the media to splash Hakim's photo and let people in NYC find him? According to IMDB, Agent Nina Chase transfers to the FBI Fugitive Task Force (FBI Most Wanted) during or after this episode but all we learned is she was visiting her sister. Chase debuted in the season premiere of FBI Most Wanted so that was a huge miss in this FBI episode. Sadly, CBS crime drama writers have had a lot of misses.

Fbi seven 6 episode 1: All The Rage
shawnomaredwards14 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Listen. As a Season six opener, it's a love-hate episode. The dynamics between Tiff & Hobbs were intriguing. It showed potential, yet predictably, they had to kill off the black character first. However, I envisioned it evolving into something akin to OA & Maggie's dynamic. If Season seven follows past patterns, it might explore another love-hate relationship, with Maggie and OA leading the narrative. Nevertheless, it's evident that Dick Wolf and the other writers are opting for a cautious approach, Mr. Wolf, sir. When will we see the return of "AIR WOLF"? Please and if so can you use netflix.
