I Couldn't have imagined a better episode

After the Season 4 final - and the the NBC save - I was really looking forward to Season 5 but was paranoid at the same time - so many times show runners want to inject conflict and surprise into a show thinking it will make it better - Given that thought I was more than a little anxious that the Season 4 final was a teaser and the show runner was going to do a bate and switch - to his/her credit - that didn't happen but actually with the opening scene of Season 5 episode one setting the tone - I am totally hooked on magnum PI where as I was running hot and cold the first 4 seasons - there is always a chance the show runner will do something stupid like the Season 8 final of "When call the Heart " that took a 10 rating to a 1 in 10 minutes of the final.

Let me take my black armband off

Ahhhhhhh, so relieved Magnum is back. As much as I loved the original Magnim P. I., ya know, with that Tom Selleck guy and I'm usually not one to like remakes, well, I think I have forgotten the original series.....no not really. That being said, oh yea, I have Blue Bloods to tune in to for Tom Selleck, I love this remake.

When season 4 ended I was devastated that it was over. How could they do this? How, why?

We've been wanting Magnum & Higgins to hook up for so long, and when season 4 ended and they figured each other out well that was great too, but then the show had ended.

Now, here we go season 5, episode 1, Magnum, Higgins & the rest of the crew, awesome.

Back!

This was an excellent Magnum episode! I feel like nothing relevant has changed with the actors and stuff, and finally we have Magnum and Higgins together. I know that TV wisdom asks not to do that but in this case there was no other option, because the "Would they?" was becoming ridiculous.

The case was a normal case, but we got to see what all the characters are doing, got introduced to a new character (need more time to form an opinion about that point) and presented a new story in the last moments that may be a season arc, or perhaps not. I am not sure. Anyways, I hope it is interesting. Meanwhile, I just want to celebrate that my show is back from the dead.

Good story, some ridiculous plotting

Magnum and Higgins are retained by a woman whose husband died in a car accident six days ago, alone in his vehicle, but a red-light ticket clearly shows that two minutes before the fatal accident, there was a woman in his passenger seat. She wants to know if he was having an affair.

In their initial investigation move, after breaking into the doctor's office, they encounter the detective replacing their friend Katsumoto, who has resigned after the events ending Season Four.

We were interested that Michael Rady, playing the new detective (Chris Childs), is well-known to us from Hallmark Christmas movies and other Hallmark romances. It's nice to see him cross over into the mainstream.

I knock off a few stars because the ending of this episode is beyond ridiculous in many ways. I won't recount them because then I'd have to check the spoiler button. LOL.
