A Decent Proposal
Prismark1018 February 2023
It is 1981, the time of the Royal Wedding. Ben leaps into the body of Eva Sandoval. She is in a bar and being pestered, he is no match for her. He is also the one Eva and her partner Jake need to capture.

The biggest surprise for Ben is not that he has leapt into a body of a woman. It is that Jake, her fellow bounty hunter is also her lover. He proposes which catches Ben off guard.

Back at base. Magic makes a revealtion to Ian Wright. When he was in the Vietnam war, Sam Beckett had leapt into his body. He saved his life and that of Sam's brother and the rest of his platoon.

A Decent Proposal is the best of the new series so far. The balance has been found between the story of the week of the original series and the series arc.

Ben starts to get some of his memories back. I do wonder if the early 1980s setting made it feel like this was riffing more from the original Quantum Leap.

Wrong Money

Warning: Spoilers
Mexican money and 100 dollar bills in the suitcase are not correct for the year 1981 Wrong important detail.

The series is just beginning and already has serious production flaws.

Retaking an iconic show is a responsibility that must be taken seriously.

Sam would be very upset lol The show is getting better little by little, I watched the original series and maybe I hope too much. But I also saw the new shows Hawaii 5-0 and Magnum and they are better done.

The detail of Magic being one of Sam's jumps seemed great to me, I hope it improves because the idea is very good and deserves a better effort.

Shouldn't Special Guests Do Something Special?
Gislef11 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Does Justin Hartley really deserve SGS billing for what he did in this episode?

This was a pretty meaningless episode. The only real drama was if Eva and Jake would end up together. While the idea of Ben mucking up the timeline by inadvertently changing it could have been interesting, it got glossed over. So did several other things.

Like the fact Magic blacked out during his time in the Waiting Room on the original series in The Leap Back (2). Say what? If Leapees had blacked out when they were in the waiting room in the original series, that would have made episodes with Lee Harvey Oswald and Dr. Ruth Westheimer a lot less interesting. It would have made the whole B story in Killin' Time pretty much non-existent, too. I bet Al would have wishes Leon Stiles would have blacked out when he arrived in the Waiting Room, instead remaining conscious and escaping.

There's bits of characterization, and you can see Nanrisa Lee and Ernie Hudson trying to break through. Although at the expense of Mason Alexander Park, who didn't have anything to except react. Another good idea glosses over was the off-screen Janis trying to use the massive predictive power of Ziggy on people in the present, particularly the QL team. Although it isn't really clear how that plays into her master plan, or what her master plan is. Is she trying to predict their actions just to stop them from stopping her, or is there something more sinister that she has in mind.

The big revelation was Ben figuring out that Addison is his loved one. And... big whoop. I'd be more impressed with the amnesia angle if it actually played a part in the show rather than just being used to generate drama. But using amnesia to main drama is an old trick: just asks the production staff on 'Coronet Blue' back in the 60s.

So overall, I though A Decent Proposal was... decent. The show is never a total waste, but I'd almost rather snag an extra hour of sleep on Monday nights. Must-see TV, it ain't.

But that's just my opinion, I could be wrong. What do you think?

Ben and Addison
safenoe9 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
A Decent Proposal is set in the same year that Prince Charles (now King) married Lady Diana, so quite an eventful backdrop to this episode where Ben plays a bounty hunter. At the end of the episode Ben remembers that Ben is engaged to Addison, so it was quite moving seeing them connect.

I like the new Quantum Leap. The series is starting to find its feet amidst all the online chatter about the original series which I enjoyed watching, but for sure I'm a fan of the new Quantum Leap.

Justin Hartley and Sofia Pernas guest star, and believe it or not, coincidentally they are married in real life.

Love it!

Warning: Spoilers
This episode was fun! Ben jumps into a lady bounty hunter and tries to patch up things between a couple while taking down the bad guys who ends up being the same lady who jumped bail. "The 80's music was a fun touch and It was so sweet Ben realizes his love has been with him all this time! All the feels - it was so sweet.

A few plot twists later and Magic shares a story with Ian. Referencing when Sam jumped into him in Vietnman to save Sam's brother. If you haven't watched it yet i'd recommend it was a good story. "Quantum Leap (1989) (Season 2 Episode 3 The Leap Home:Part 2 (Vietnam ) - April 7, 1970.
