....'they found white fur near the body.'
Sleepin_Dragon29 January 2023
A woman claims to have been attacked by a giant, wild cat, similar to a snow leopard or white tiger.

First off, an opening scene thst took me back to The Crimson Feather, this time it's a semi naked hunky man, not the usual opening you see on the show.

It's been ages since Father Brown had any dealings with a Vicar, a theme seldom explored. This was definitely an interesting storyline, with lots of plus points, and a couple of detractors.

Lots of curiosity and intrigue, everyone is wondering if a wild cat is on that lose or not, and there's a murderer to pursue.

Not perhaps the best episode so far this series, but then the standard has been very high so far, still it was a pretty good watch overall.

On the debit side, I thought Brenda and Mrs Devine were a little too Scooby doo, just needing a magnifying glass to complete the setup.

Some nice characters, I really did like The Duchess, and Sam, both were interesting. Sam's link to Father Brown's past added a new layer.

Light hearted intrigue.

7/10.

The Beast of Wedlock
Prismark1027 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
In the village of Wedlock, there are sightings of a big white beast. Maybe a white tiger.

It starts off with a scream from Sylvia Garcia, who claims she was attacked.

Later Gabriel Wadey, a wannabe gigolo is found dead. His clothes were ripped and there is white fur about.

His father Sam Wadey was a corporal during the war and served with Father Brown.

Later Reverend Duncan who was an amateur zoologist is also found dead. It may be another big cat attack.

The episode was straightforward with a slightly risque opening scene.

It has flashbacks to the war as Corporal Wadey saved Father Brown's life. It leads to Father Brown making a decision as to what he is willing to do to save a long lost friend.

Season 10 is good... but miss the old cast
kbfisher25 February 2023
I am probably the biggest fan of Father Brown in all of America. I have made all my millennial and GenZ friends watch it. We all love it, and gathered around during the pandemic to enjoy this show over and over again.

It always makes me happy. The recipe for Seasons 1-9 was unstoppable and just perfect.

With Miss McCarthy missing, the show seems to lack the gravitas that also made it hilarious. She seemed to elevate the stakes in a way that the new characters don't. I find myself missing Malory as well, mostly because he added a bit of friction to father brown's investigations that was funny. Of course, Bunty is a real treat, and I seriously miss her antics. I see that Emer Kenny has moved to other shows, though these shows IMO are the same dark rubbish that is all over Netflix and the internet. Why not be a part of a show that brings genuine joy into the world? ... and what happened to Sydney?

I'm hoping for a reunion of some of the old characters in future seasons.

Regarless - I will continue to watch this show and look forward to the release of new episodes.

I just adore Father Brown - so a HUGE thank you to everyone involved in this project - the cast, production, and entire team. Thank you.

Loving Season 10 so far!
SunnyDaise30 January 2023
Congratulations to the Father Brown team for handling the cast changes so well! As much as I love the old characters, I was finding the show getting slightly flat. I'm really enjoying this mix of old and new - the additional people have breathed fresh life into the show, plus the writers have upped the humour, since the year off for covid. My only slight criticism is that the romance set up is ridiculously slow, but fun all the same. This episode's mystery was great - a real conflict for Father Brown. Looking forward to more in the season and beyond - obviously I'd still love to see beloved returnees too!

Hell (Sorry Father) in a hand basket

Hard to imagine how this once pleasant program could get any worse. You'd be hard pressed to find one praiseworthy aspect of the new format or this episode. Scenes are stiff, bordering on silly with high school dialogue and impossible developments. People overhearing conversations from long distances, that even owls could not sense.

But the raspberry performance of them all is Ruby-May Martinwood. False pretenses galore. This is no actress; quirky facial expressions are not acting.. smirking at the camera to feign, I know not what, is not acting. In this episode one almost wishes for a cat attack to end the misery.

Time travelling?
bob-11357 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This episode is set in 1954, as shown by the date on the painting. However Father Brown is seen aiding Sam in a first world war trench, which was in the time span 1914 -1918, meaning at least thirty six years previous to this episode. That means both Father Brown and Sam would be thirty six years older than that incident meaning both would be in their late fifties. Sort your timelines out chaps. Overall an interesting episode, Nice to see Inspector Valentine back replacing the ghastly previous inspector. Lady Devine looks like a painted puppet, please tone down the violent make-up, she would look much better!
