How to write a chaotic mess in 22 minutes ft. Polly Pocket

Warning: Spoilers
Taking a tiny break from my reviews of "Brandy & Mr. Whiskers", and today I've got a doozy to review! "Day of the Dad" is one of the most insufferable episodes I've seen in some time. "Small Blunder" is boring with plot holes and ends up coming off as a 2018 "Polly Pocket" ripoff, despite hating that show, too. In general, both have little to no originality and take an eternity to fix their forced conflict.

"Day of the Dad" is the weaker episode in this pair mostly for the fact of how insufferable Lori is in this episode. In most other season 6 episodes, Lori's had a good track record ("Crash Course", possibly "Stroke of Luck", "Time Trap!"), however... this episode ruined it, making her feel like how she was in season one. Even if the man Lori purposely pushed into a pond wasn't Bobby's dad, that is still a horrible thing to do, and feels a little out of character. Yes, she cares about her boyfriend a lot, but it hasn't been to THIS degree in some time, probably since... season 2 or 3? The rest of the first half is really boring with little to nothing happening, I liked Lori with the Kangaroo onesie though.

The majority of this episode is bland, dry, and not funny. However, when P. A. M. E. L. A (Lisa's mind wiping X-Men ripoff device) comes in, the episode gets even worse somehow. First of all: This show does NOT NEED all of these fantasy elements, this show is meant to be realistic! It's nothing like the atrocity that things like the ending of "The Mad Scientist", "Ghosted!", or the aforementioned "Time Trap!", but this never fails to make me upset. The rest of the episode turns into "Whatever Happened to SpongeBob?" but even more boring and Lori tells a bigger lie than Brandy in "Flim Flam Fever" and "Net of Lies" (if this episode is proof of her behavior, I'd never call someone like Lori in this episode "nice").

2/10, what a dreadful experience. Also, when Lori goes to get a makeover from Margarita, she looks scarily similar to me... that's cool I suppose.

"Small Blunder" is mediocre as its own thing. However, compared next to other shows I've watched do the shrinking plot, this one is very boring compared to the rest. At least "Polly Pocket" had like 5 good episodes in 2 seasons worth of content (screw off, "One Fly Day"). The inane choice of a scientific fantasy device for a season 6 plot comes back here, done a little better however.

Here's the thing, I kinda like Lily as a character. This episode is one of Lily's best in... well, probably since "Potty Mouth" weirdly enough. However, Lily's behavior in this episode is still not good. Her outlook on show and tell, which somehow goes on for 3 days which from what I know doesn't happen (I'm getting 4th grade show and tell flashbacks). The first half, just like its sister episode, is very boring. However, this one ties more into the problem and gets to the point faster than "Day of the Dad", starting its weak climax somewhat late to begin with.

Speaking of the climax, whenever Lily and her friends... *sighs* SHRINK (I am not ranting about this again), the episode gets somewhat better. Tater Tot (Jeffery's hamster) was foreshadowed to be the rock in their path if the title card proves anything. Their little chase with him is honestly pretty enjoyable, if not facepalm worthy for how much it wants to say "tiny power" and have a magical locket. Lily learns that jealousy is a monster in a convoluted way and everyone gets teleported into Lisa's room with barely any payoff as to what just happened. The blind adults thing always gets on my nerves...

Not much left to say... 5/10. Scores average to a 4/10.
