I loved this movie and it touched me deeply. As a mental health professional, this movie broke my heart. Not once did her mom, her sister or her social worker listen to Brook. The consequences of this negligent behavior are very clear: Brook gets hurt over and over again, while she just wants to be happy in her own little Celine Dion-fan world. The cinematography is good, the acting is too. I don't know what the problem is for other viewers. This is a perfectly depressing slice of life, which makes us wonder: what could they have done to avoid this drama? I'm glad all ends well for Brook, and I hope she'd never have to return to her horrible home situation.

A bit of a bummer.

Warning: Spoilers
The character Brooke gets a little boring (repetitive) after a while, and the story just seems to waddle along, except for the occasional, more intense, developments. Near the end, it would have been good to simply end it when Brooke arrives in Las Vegas; the extra scenes in the limo and with her new 'friends' didn't add anything for me. With all these shortcomings, the really intense scene in which she dumps her baby, does not work as it should. It should have been a killer scene (no pun intended), but alas.
What remains is an okay drama film with some nice tragicomic touches (counting cars). The acting was well done overall (somehow I was really glad that annoying mother went into the water pretty soon, though). A special mention for the supporting role by Carolien Spoor, in more than one way, and even Esmee van Kampen's bazonga's get extra special screen time... I can't mind.
I had bigger expectations, but it was certainly doable. 6 out of 10.

No storyline

The story wasn't that bad and the acting wasn't as well, but it was impossible to follow the storyline and many things stayed unexplained. It was quite frustrating when I finished watching the movie but i still had so many questions. Would give this 1/10 if it wasn't for the idea and the actors.
