Essentially the Japanese version of CLASS OF 1984, BIG MAGNUM KUROIWA SENSEI is a film as senseless as they come, and yet somehow it all works. It's a breakneck little comedy action hybrid with one of those age-old themes, juvenile delinquency. Here, a school is a literal battleground and the teachers victimised by unruly pupils, until the titular character shows up to take charge. It's a comic book style concoction with wacky characterisation and even wackier scenes, although with the usual sleaze and exploitation elements you expect from Japanese cinema. By the time the Nazis show up to wreak havoc at the climax, I didn't quite believe what I was seeing...
