This review is based on the first 11 of 16 episodes that were available for streaming on History Channel. American Daredevils has a good concept. Follow around three working daredevils as they set up and perform their stunts around the country. At first it was very interesting watching how they set up and performed their stunts. The stunts are good, some excellent. The daredevils are all very brave and at times foolhardy. The problem is that the daredevils and crews spend so much time yelling and insulting each other, it makes them rather unlikable. The many fights between the father/son team of Spanky and Spanky Jr are unpleasant to watch. Dr Danger made many mistakes setting up and performing his stunts. In one instance he did his stunt at a big show too early, and so hardly any of the crowd was there to see it. At another stunt, he was to drive his car through burning fences but his crew built such feeble fences that they blew over when a wind came up before the stunt. Dr. Dizzy was the best of the bunch with his limo stunt (great paint job)and his protégé's piercing a small bus with a car driven off a ramp.
These men are all dedicated to their craft. It is worth watching their stunts and if you have a chance to see them live do so. The TV show just isn't that good.
