A coin and no slot.
thinkMovies2 January 2023
In what is touted as the "half-season finale" with the 8th of 14 episodes and no air date set for the other 6 episodes, other than talking about maybe next summer (six months or more from episode 8) main characters assume their positions for a show-down to someone's death. Who will kill who or will they all kill each other?

Frankly, it looks like Mr. Sheridan is running out of ideas and treading water. The pace has slowed to a torturous crawl, and that includes a reminder that the 6666 ranch in Texas is still owned by Sheridan.

Why not call this the end of a very short season five and tell us to wait until an even shorter season 6? It would sound more honest. Cowboying is all about honesty, isn't it?

Mid-Season Finale
bobcobb30111 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Yellowstone is a show that doesn't have a groundbreaking formula but somehow keeps us engaged and coming back for more of the same.

We got another Jamie and Beth scene and while this had less fighting and violence and shouting than others, it did have a lasting impact, or so we are teased. Beth faced a hard truth about her father and Jamie may have finally found a way free of the damning evidence his sister had against him.

Better than some of the recent episodes this season, but they need to up the ante and fast when the show comes back in the summer. They are getting a little bit too lazy with the writing right now.

Season 5 A
eoinpgeary7 June 2023
Right So this season has been split into 2 parts so for the mid season finale or like Breaking bad season 5 A I will review ep 1- 9

This season has definitely been the weakest so far, call it a season break or a separate season whatever, it has been poor for the standards that the show has set.

Beth is becoming quite annoying, angry speech's and aggressive attacks at Jamie can only last for so long before it feels repetitive, and now for me it's repetitive.

The story of the season so far is all about protecting the ranch and John is governor, Jamie is seduced by an opposing faction and she has him fooled, Beth tries convincing John they need to move to a better business model and Kasey and his family are met with a big event.

Not much stands out, I do think we have good moments and maybe 2 solid episodes or there than that I'm a bit disappointed.

Rip and Kasey are the only ones I have an interest in, they are pulling the show at the moment, it's like we are used to episodes that are packed and full start to end but this season they are deflated, maybe one or two things happen and the rest is all filler.

Overall a fine first half/ Season A, 7/10.

An OK mid season episode
85122218 February 2023
Greetings from Lithuania.

8th episode of "Yellowstone" season 5 was a pretty solid episode. But if you consider it as a mid season episode, it pretty much in term of all previous episodes in season 5 - its a soup opera and melodrama set in west.

On the good side of this season so far was acting - its great. Locations are amazing but how long can it last? Writing is descent enough to keep me interested while watching an episode, but its a highly forgetable one - as soon as episode ends i'm forgeting what i saw in Yellowstone - and i have pretty good memory.

Overall, while being not bad melodrama on its own, i really hope they will turn the heat on in a second half of the season.

A Season 5 Part A review
conjurorhappy27 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
So yea it's just the first part of season 5 which is also going to be the final season of Yellowstone. I have to say it's kinda disappointing to me. To be honest, I think we can all feel a bit weak about season 4 already. But season 5 A is hitting a new low. I was drowned in all the country music and ranch-hand lifestyle documentaries and there were so little progress in the whole storyline instead of what happened in ep8. However that wasn't really enough to support the almost 8 hours of the show.

Since season 4, the writers had kept the so-called "wild, free, direct, invincible" in Beth going yet a bit over the line. It's just too much and started to not making sense. She's smart and intuitive but not just "hothead" which is what Beth is now. I blame the writers for not giving the character any sort of growth or gain.

And now in season 5, she became even more unreasonable. I mean... she's such a good character with a lot to dig in but the only thing that the writers focused on is her temper and "romance" with Rip.

What doesn't make sense to me is - if Beth never knew where they had been dumping all the bodies over the years, how come she was there waiting for Jamie dumping Randall's body and took the picture that has made Jamie "owned" to John and her? As I recalled, she was waiting in the front area of Jamie's car at the "train station". She couldn't have followed Jamie and driven pass him, right? Then she must knew. So how the hell was she surprised when Jamie told her about that place. And how the hell did she think that photo wouldn't trigger the total flip of Jamie and then drag every one of the Duttons into the mud.

I really like the show from the beginning. Especially the first three seasons. I really hope that the writers give the show a good ending instead of so much OOC and amazing scenery to fill up the blank.

Season 5A Review
southdavid24 March 2023
Having burned quickly through "1883" and "1923" and four seasons of "Yellowstone" all that was left was the bring myself up to date with the first half of the lengthened 5th season of the show, then sit quietly until the next run, or spin off, comes down the pipeline.

Having been sworn in as the Governor of Montana, John Dutton (Kevin Costner) pulls all funding and permissions for the airport and resort. Market Equities bring in Sarah Atwood (Dawn Oliveri) to deal with subsequent lawsuits and she quickly spots that Jamie (Wes Bentley) is the family's vulnerable point. With the pressures of Governorship pulling him away from the Yellowstone more and more, John brings Summer (Piper Perabo) back to act as his consultant, a decision that Beth (Kelly Reilly) strongly objects too.

A pretty miserable start to the season as Monica ends up in hospital again following a car crash, it doesn't help take Kayce out of his belief that his needs to choose between his given and his chosen family. The Jamie story does start to feel like it's repeating itself a bit now and I hope, one way or another it reaches a resolution by the end of the next run.

I'm still enjoying it; despite its mix of soapy nonsense and now political drama it generally works and the performances and cinematography are great. It feels like the end might be coming, and not just because of the off screen stories that have circulated, John is about to leverage the farm heavily to keep the cattle alive and the threat of a lawsuit from Market Equities might just finish them off. We'll see. Back for 5B.

Another boring episode
grscarface19 January 2023
This episode, as the most of this season, continues on the same direction which is there is no direction. Seems that the runners of the show believes that we like so much the characters that they don't have to involve them to any story, it is enough to watch them, run with horses, eat breakfast, listen music, eat lunch, (some plans from drone here and there), play cards, drink beers eat dinner and go to sleep.

Is it a documentary for cowboys lifestyle?

Ironically, this season which contains almost zero main plot and less than zero side plots has more episodes than previous ones.

This show, unfortunately, became so boring.

Yellowstone is no fun anymore
doug-812267 January 2023
Season 5 is poor. There are long gazes at the mountains. Lots of time watching a few Cowboys in the yards and slow country music songs all in the effort to hide the fact that there is no real plan this season.

Let's look at the siblings, every one of them has lost their way and arejust plain boring. Beth and her role is bordering on ridiculous. She was a hot firecracker in previous seasons and now she's just a random loose cannon.

What about the flashbacks? Way too many.

It is padding at very best.

Please can we have the old Yellowstone back. This season is well below par. You are about to lose me as a once avid fan.

Please revert. This season is no fun or entertainment.

Sad music, sad cowboys, sad show.
vonronge17 January 2023
Enough already with the stupid cowboy roping shows and country music cameos. The show is so boring I can't watch it anymore. I used to like this show, but now it seems so two-dimensional and uninteresting. The storylines are predictable, the dialogue too slow, and the characters lack any real depth or emotion. The performances are wooden and the plot moves along at a snail's pace. I'm just not interested in this show anymore. And the stupid crackhead guy married a hot veterenarian? In what world? I like the natural scenery of Montana as much as the next guy, but the show could use some more excitement and freshness. There's just no real suspense and the drama is too melodramatic. The writing is stale and uninspiring, and the dialogue often feels forced. And the crying needs to stop for pete's sake. The writing needs to be more dynamic and the characters need to be more believable. The show needs to be more engaging and more unpredictable. It's just not cutting it anymore. The show needs to be re-envisioned in order to remain interesting and captivating.

What's happened to Yellowstone
kristie-9544525 February 2023
I hate to say it but Yellowstone has become boring and pointless. At time I feel like I'm in a PBS cowboy documentary. I don't watch Yellowstone to educate myself on the ins and outs of ranch life, I watch it to be entertained and sadly this season has not.

Like many show before it, Yellowstone has attempted to deviate from what made it great in the first place and that was great characters and great storylines. Not great views and great insight into the day to day running of a ranch.

Please let the second half of this season pull it back on track or unfortunately this will be my last season as a fan.

Beautiful scenery and nothing.
namikazedante19 March 2024
That's what this season has been. Nothing and beautiful shots of Montana. I mean the characters doesn't make any sense at all. Beth is free to be a spoiled brat and no one is doing anything. And it's just not realistic and cringe. And Jamie... he has like tons of stuff he can put Beth in jail for but no go with the un-realistic idea of hiring a hitman or no Hit-hillbillies. Jesus Christ. For a show that is to be set in reality it sure is not a single believable character or person on the show.

And Monica? I don't even think the writers know what to do with her because she is all over the place with her ideas and where she stands. So Kayce did a walkabout or meditation in the way of her own culture and when he tells her that it will be the end of them if he stays at the ranch she is just like Naaaah come on who cares. And I still laugh about her ridiculous car ride. So if you are pregnant you stay at a house in the middle of nowhere? Not at a big ranch or at her granpha? Or in town ? This show has dropped in value and realistic character it's just a comedy. And these fights Beth has? If I was Jamie I would've smacked her down. It kinda is self-defense when a woman breaks into your home and hits you in the head with a big rock but no Jamie is a 45 year old man who for some reason can't correct that spoiled mom-killing of a brat. At this point who doesn't want Beth's character to die? She is like a mental patient that needs to be locked up and treated.

Anyway so Glad it's over. And Hopefully Yellowstone won't be back.

BETH DUTTON - OH MY GOD!!!
gvdkzg14 April 2024
I'm halfway through season 2 and so far it has yet to disappoint. But the character of Beth Dutton has become totally boring. She is spoilt, damaged and so toxic.

I appreciate it's a role she's playing but if my sister was like that, I'd smash her head right through the first window or door she passes.

Kevin Costner is brilliant in this and I am happy to see him make such a smooth transition from the silver screen into television. I do hope that he finds the time and a great script for another blockbuster. The Bodyguard, Field of Dreams and The Untouchables, iconic and legendary movies, and I watch them whenever they are own.
