What a dad!

Watching horror short Devil Moon, I couldn't help but think it had all the hallmarks of a film student's first effort, even though I knew full well that director Evan Makrogiannis had co-helmed nifty serial killer flick The Turnpike Killer three years earlier. A little investigation helped to explain why: the script for Devil Moon was written by Evans' 13-year-old son Liam, and I presume that the film was done as a bit of light-hearted fun for all involved.

Viewed as such, it proves a reasonably entertaining piece of schlock nonsense, a silly monster romp with broad performances, cheesy dialogue, bright red gore, a monster played by a man in a thoroughly unconvincing rubber werewolf mask, and an ending that beggars belief.

While it definitely won't win Evan Makrogiannis any awards, he gets extra points in my book simply for committing his son's ideas to film.

5.5 out of 10, rounded up to 6 for IMDb.
