Life Cycle, an intriguing film
joenog19 January 2023
Life Cycle is quite an impressive undertaking from first-time writer/director/filmmaker Chris Morvant. He covers the bases when it comes to delivering what it takes to make a good movie; solid script, acting and film technique. He even throws in animatronics for good measure. His success is more impressive when you realize he tackled this project during the peak of Covid, abiding by a litany of testing and strict health regulations-no small feat. Starring in this futuristic head-scratcher is Adam Weber who gives a terrific performance tackling a wide range of emotions. He portrays a computer programmer with a side hobby ambition of creating his own sentient A. I. His success sends him on a journey of "parenthood" after his creation, Vetro, is "born." Morvant's script is filled with literary and classic-film references that showcase his passion for the movie industry that he seems to be perfectly suited for. If you have a true appreciation for the art of filmmaking and love movies that leave you thinking, Life Cycle will not disappoint. I am definitely looking forward to Morvant's next endeavor. I'm sure he will soar, especially without Covid annoying restrictions!
