It's consistently very good drama.

The Ripper attacks yet another woman, Maureen Long, but she survives, The Police are given a fairly detailed description, and set a trap to try and lure the killer. ACC George Oldfield now heads the case.

I am really into this show, I think it's pretty gripping drama, they've captured the era brilliantly, and the story is captivating.

It's astonishing to see the number of days growing and growing, we're now up and over 700, it's astonishing. Interesting that we've still not been introduced to Peter Sutcliffe yet, surely in the next episode.

The period detail is just awesome, especially that pub scene with Maureen.

I do think it's gone up a notch by having David Morrissey as the central Detective, he's such a brilliant actor, he adds an excellent gravitas, there are some really good actors here.

8/10.

George Oldfield is in charge of the investigation but is short of suspects. However another victim has survived an attack by the Yorkshire Ripper.

Maureen Long was offered a lift home by the Ripper and he later attacked. She survived as she was discovered by two women out for a walk. Maureen gives the police a description of both her attacker and the car he was driving. Even though she is groggy and in a distressed state.

News comes of another Ripper attack, this time in Manchester. Then there is the matter of an attack that took place in Preston a few years earlier but it was ruled out as not linked.

The focus is on taxi drivers, one person is taken in for questioning. Oldfield is sure that Ray Wood is the culprit but the evidence is circumstantial. He needs to obtain a confession whichever way he can.

Like others in charge of the Ripper case. Oldfield finds himself under pressure from the top and Wood manages to have an iron clad alibi when another woman is attacked.

You cannot go wrong with the actors of the calibre of David Morrissey. It is another episode where it is basically a police procedural. Remember the selling point of this series was that it was all about the victims.

Oldfield has to succumb to apply undue pressure on Ray Wood. Any confession by him would had been unreliable.
