A documentary is a non-fictional motion-picture intended to "document reality, primarily for the purposes of instruction, education or maintaining a historical record", all of which has been accomplished by "A Castle in Brooklyn, King Arthur". With Tyler's work we have been instructed and educated through historical records over the years of Arthur and Cynthia, very thoroughly.
But then... we have more, we have the real purpose of a documentary, the moral of the story and this is now becoming ..... Storytelling,...... it is not a documentary anymore.
A big city is made out of smaller communities, but what is a community ? What rules a community or why there are rules in a community ? Where do private rights begin and where do they end? Questions that Tyler raises but that each one of us must answer on his own.
This type of storytelling is easy to understand, it is poignant, empathetic, authentic.
"A Castle in Brooklyn, King Arthur" is a beautiful documentary that does excellent storytelling about the limits of individual rights in a community and the reality of the limitations of human rights in our capitalistic society.
