The Premiere
claudio_carvalho22 January 2022
In the benefit premiere of a musical, the promising actress Sharon falls off a balcony on a car. CBI agents assume the case with many suspects in mind: the producer, the director, and envious cast member including the actress who will replace Sharon. Soon Patrick Jane discover that the diva Diandra Sunderland is the biological mother of Sharon and that they have recently met each other. Jane asks Agent JJ LaRoche to be part of his plan to find Sharon's killer. Meanwhile Agent Bob Kirkland makes a creepy move.

"Behind the Red Curtain" is an episode of "The Mentalist" with many suspects. This time, JJ LaRoche helps Patrick Jane with participation "à la Hitchcock". Bob Kirkland's attitude in the end of the show seems to have a meaning. My vote is seven.

Was Amanda Righetti pregnant?
OnjiMooteDaMarle21 September 2019
Was Amanda Righetti pregnant till this episode (or one before or after) because she never, I repeat NEVER left her chair. She looks chubby and bubbly and obviously the kick ass woman has put some weight. But the very next episode onward she is going out but no running or beating anyone. I observed that, makers..Hope all's well.

What's Kirkland about re: Red John?
jknousak27 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Why didn't Kirkland ask Lennon who Red John is before killing him? It makes no sense unless it has to do w/ time and having to kill him in revenge for his (Bob's) Mom was more important. OR, he was banking on Jane to find RJ FOR him. Still, I think it's a flaw in the story . . .

Reference to a photo

I noticed a reference to the famous photo "Most beautiful suicide". In the beginning woman who fell on the car lies in the same position as Evelyn McHale in the photo. Her left hand is near her neck, right arm stretched to the right, ankles crossed, and camera is positioned near her head, towards the feet.

Knowing the whole Red John story makes writer's mistakes OBVIOUS.
CrimeDrama111 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I agree with the reviewer who mentioned the mistake with the ending. I fully expected Kirkland to torture Lennon to reveal Red John's identity, but instead he killed him - maybe because Red John ordered him to. He appears to be a member of the Blake Association but I don't recall any mention that Kirkland joined only to avenge his twin brother's death. I still don't understand Red John's motive for killing Kirkland's brother - or Lorelei's sister. Just to remove loyalties? That would be ironic, because two once-loyal members now want to kill him. Why didn't the writer's see the benefit of an alliance between Kirkland and Lorelei? He certainly knew why she wanted Red John dead. It's crazy to me to have so many loose ends on the mythology aspect of this show. Here's an interesting thought, wouldn't it have been reasonable that a member of the Blake Association would blow the whistle on the conspiracy because they couldn't live with it anymore? I could record a video confession and get it in the hands of a reporter without anyone being able to stop it.

Forgot to mention - even age is the same (23). Also original photo was taken in the late 1940s, while "Torch" musical takes place in the 50s, so very close in time.
