In the Spotlight

Warning: Spoilers
NCIS may be borrowing some things from NCIS: Los Angeles as they gave us a high-quality cold open with Knight trying to save a family that just crashed their car, but after that the quality just went down and down and down. At least they kept me interested and invested for the whole hour so that is progress, but with just a few episodes left this season we need a higher quality than this.

Why not just stick to a formulaic murder mystery and give us a surprise twist at the end? Instead, we just get a story that gets less and less interesting as the hour progresses? I don't know, I guess they can't all be winners.

A fine episode!

Warning: Spoilers
After being let down by "Stranger in a Strange Land" and "Head Games", I wanted this season to get back on track. It kind of does with "In the Spotlight, which is a rather enjoyable episode. That being said, it's far from great.

Let's start with the good.

. The production values of "In the Spotlight" are great as usual. The episode is very well-directed, the music fits the scenery and the acting's good, particularly from Kayla Blake.

. The mystery is decent. The action scenes are quite thrilling. Liked that this story was more about Knight.

But...

. The solution feels way too obvious at the end of the day. The murderer is too much of a suspect early on. Also wished that the story would gone more deep into what its like being a celebrity. Too much of the episode is turned into a joke about Wonder Woman.

Overall, a fine episode.

6/10 HK.

Katrina is involved in the case, as part of a car crash right next to headquarters. A young mom is facing immigration problems and our heroine goes to bat for her, taking her young American-born son temporarily under her care, while the mother is in jeopardy -undocumented. Comically, Law is called "Wonder Woman" for her quick action after the accident.

Soon, the woman disappears from the hospital and the plot thickens. Main subplot involves Katrina's relationship o the young boy under her care -she's ill-equipped to handle a yonter, but the team helps out. Rest of the show i standard police procedural action. Scott Lawrence plays the DEA agent who wars wih Cole in trying to take over the case from NCIS, since technically it has nothing directly to do with navy matters.
