The plotting and writing was less than stellar
carolhendry-251263 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I'm not impressed with how this season is proceeding so far. The way the hostage negotiator was written and acted bothered me so much it ruined the episode. A hostage negotiator would not treat what was going on so lightly and so quickly pull the switch to rush the bank.

I also don't like the Ben - Addison - Tom triangle. Ben was the love of her life and even though the show says it has been 3 years, it doesn't feel that way to the viewer. It feels like she just ditched Ben. It doesn't help that so far they are writing Tom as such a nice guy. I hope the show wraps up this storyline soon because it will greatly take away from the show to have it be an emotional rollercoaster. .

Cheque this out

After last week's underwhelming season opener which hardly had Addison in it, this was somewhat better with the under-used talents of Janet Montgomery heading the support cast. She is currently starring in the sickly romantic drama The Ex-Wife on Channel 5 back in her native UK and her character here is somewhat one dimensional with her talents being under-used except for putting on a American accent.

Fellow Brit John Gadiot suffers the same problem. Let's hope his character will become a regular part of the show but, being a Brit means he will ultimately be let down in a future episode (no, I haven't come back from thd future, I just know how American shows work).

A run of the mill storyline with the emphasis being more about the QL project than the leap itself.

Addison turns up this week but someone else is noticeably missing.

Ben, Addison and Peter too
safenoe25 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Peter Gadiot makes his introduction as Tom Westfall an Army Intelligence officer, ex Special Forces. To add spice to the love interest, Peter is also Addison's new love interest, so Quantum Leap now has a love triangle to deal with.

Peter is a British-English actor, and his American accent is quite convincing. Anyway, Ben gets caught up in a bank robbery when he plays a long-serving employee of a bank in the 1970s, when banks were in touch with the community and they gifted toasters to new account holder, along with piggy banks where you could deposit your coins. Anyway, what will become of Ben.

Well, my wife refuses to watch the show after this episode
docmagik20 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
So I know they want to keep the show going so they need new compelling conflicts, but my wife, who lives romance stories, but is actively repelled by love triangle plots, will never watch this show again.

It's not the first show we've watched together that she has stopped watching after a single episode, and it won't be the last, but I'm sorry it happened with this show.

The Ben plot in this episode was pretty fun though, and picturing a 70 year old woman explaining to the bank robbers how to do thier jobs was entertaining. And the episodes this season where Ben has to solve leaps without help are a nice twist.

But the Addison twist is not.
