Hey, Kiddo!!!
lavatch10 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Any young adult approaching their eighteenth birthday is going to be offended by being addressed by one's parents as "Kiddo." But that is only the start of the bizarre predicament of young Rose, who is to painfully learn the secrets of her family heritage.

Rose was adopted and was brought up by two loving parents, Zara and Max. But, suddenly, the high school "guidance counselor" named Hayley has led Rose to believe that she is her birth mother.

A preposterous tenet of the film is that somehow the school principal had hired Hayley and gave her tacit permission to reconnect with her daughter on school time! The principal even knew that Hayley had an alias (Rachel Jones) and a criminal record! Typically, in adoptions, there is a strict legal agreement that, after surrendering the child, the birth parent is not to approach them under any circumstances.

There were moments in the film that raised genuine questions about why a young person would be obsessed to locate their birth parents when they have been raised and adored by such caring adoptive parents as Zara and Max. But young Rose, who aspires to be a major in molecular biology, is so eager to connect with Hayley even prior to receiving the DNA results that she decides to have "mocktails" with her and accept a key to her lavish home!

True to form in a Lifetime picture, the male will come up the big loser in the parenting game. The film's denouement could serve as a requiem for Max, with the three women having completely forgotten any role he might have played in their lives as a lover, husband, and father. They now have each other and have no need in their lives for a man.

Sad.

ok but nothing great

Sins in the family was alright, it did what it had to do in terms of this kind of film. The actress playing rose is the furthest you can get from a highschool student and whilst on this subject the acting seemed very forced especially for the female cast and the long awkward silences between two characters didnt help either. So rose is living a quiet life with her parents that is until school conceller zara shows up and as the two get close she says something that makes her world crumble and thrusts her into uncovering the truther behind everything its overall one of those standered films for its genre but alright still.

Kind of a Dud

Warning: Spoilers
I know it's a Lifetime movie so I shouldn't expect much, but Sins in the Family was quite boring. The twists were all predictable. Nothing of consequence happens.

The story follows Rose, a 17 year old girl unconvincingly played by a 27 year old. Adopted at birth, Rose is searching for her birth parents when the new school counselor, Hayley, claims to be her mother. A battle of wills ensues between Hayley and Rose's insanely jealous and protective adoptive mother, Zara.

Unfortunately, it's not that interesting and you can see the "twist" coming from a mile away. The lack of violence and murder really drags thr movie down. However, there is quite a funny scene of a woman getting hit by a car. Even for a Lifetime movie, Sins in the Family missed the mark.

Rose,Rose,Rose,Rose,Rose

Holy crap I think the name Rose was said more than in the most overrated movie ever. TITANIC. And that's almost impossible to do. An almost 30 something playing a teenager is comical. ROSE looks absolutely nothing like her birth "mother". Haley looked more like Maxs mother than his wife. The casting for this mess made absolutely no sense. What a miscasting nightmare. Eating ice cream out of the same carton with a person you just met and playing mommy and daughter was just another fumble during this hot mess. And if ROSE was suppose to be this future molecular biologist, you're not going to become one without cracking at least one book. ROSE was anything but an up and coming biologist of any kind. I gave it a 2 because of its comedic value. Ugh....

Sins in this movie

Warning: Spoilers
The movie might have been better with better casting. Rose is suppose to be an eighteen year old and she looks thirty. Natalie Sharp is totally unbelievable as Rose. Rose's biological mother Haley, played by Meghan Heffern, shows up and she and Rose look more like friends than mother and daughter.

Also, why would the school principal get involved in a family matter. Why would she agree to hire a person who tells her she's only there to meet her daughter.

The acting is what you would expect from an LMN movie. It's bad. So that's no surprise.

Why was Max, Rose's father, so intent on killing Haley when the truth was already out in the open. That made absolutely no sense. It amazed me how quickly Rose turned against a man she supposedly loved her entire life. This movie didn't come together for me.
