Not Going out:Football Review

A very fun and interesting end to a great television siries for the past decade now. With lots of Iconic and interesting episodes that have worked so much. And ofcourse some not so much. But that's not the case with this episode, which was a great ending for Siries 13, and probably my favourite of the siries.

We have these kids playing Football together, who are on a team. The episode evolves around the best player. And for sympathy reasons they choose Harvey, as someone in his family have just passed away. What's great about this episode is it's always fun to see Lee Mack. Who's wonderfully charismatic and Hillarious in anything he touches, which turns into gold. His competitive side, so yes we get to see a different side to Lee, which made the story interesting. And Him being competitive and all was brilliant to watch. It was also surprisingly accurate with some of the stuff that he said to the Ref. And I only really know this, because I'm a hugh fan of Football myself. So to see this as being rather accurate makes another realistic epsiode.

The Music/Soundtrack will always be Iconic. And sadly of all they are finishing of the siries so we won't be able to hear this music on the show again. I would like them to do another 2 Seasons, but I diagress. The Music is uplifting and it can turn a slower paced epsiode and it can give it a bit of light, it has a certain spark in that sense. As it can elevate it, and it's only because the score is great. The little beat at the end of the song which I like the most, gives it a more smoother look to it, if that was a clear description of something. I know it's a weird way of describing a song, but it's the easiest way.

And the Episode is overall great, a belly of laughs as expected. Fun story, which is also a slow burner. And I like more grounded epsiodes so a slow burner is always intreging for me. And the Performances were great as always. I liked the fact that Anna wasn't in this episode. As she's my least favourite character. Her character traits are she's too bossy, and is rude. Which doesn't interest me all that much, as she doesn't have much of a personality to go off. So she's a bit of a stereotype in away. As that's all she's precived as, which makes her less interesting as a character. So maybe that's why it's my favourite in the siries. Now time for the best bit, the Verdict.

Verdict,

8.5/10 Great end to an endering show.

This was a fun final episode from the thirteen series (which may be the last if you listen to Lee Mack) in which Lee's attempts to 'help' Toby with the football coaching go predictably awry.

Mack has hinted that 'Not Going Out' might be finishing, but when you see episodes like this that involve the kids you realise that there's actually still life in this old sitcom dog yet, and I'd be open to more.

It still manages to be funny and charming after all this time, and while not every episode is a winner it's still a darn sight better than much of what passes for entertainment on the BBC in terms of comedy right now.

Lee is out watching his son Benji play for the under 13 football team.

Only Lee is one of those dad's from hell. He takes it all so seriously shouting at the coach and abusing the ref.

Only Toby is the coach. No wonder Benji's football team has been on a losing streak. They have been thrashed at every match and Benji is the only one who has scored a goal.

When it comes voting for the player of the year. Lee is determined that Benji wins it and tries to get the other players to vote for him. Only to find out that another player is getting the sympathy vote, he has been caring for his ill grandfather (Melvyn Hayes.)

I did think that just like the earlier episode, Train. The twist would be rather obvious and it was. At least it shows Melvyn has still got it.

It is the final episode of the thirteenth series. It has shown signs of running out of gas despite Lee Mack varying things about. I thing it has been the lack of zingers.

Another classic episode.

It's the end of the season for Benji's hapless under thirteen football side, and he's up for player of the year, Lee does his best to convince the team that Benji should take the honour.

Overall, I think Italian Lessons just pips this one to the post as series 13's best episode, this was raucously funny, with Lee living his own life through young Benji, and causing mayhem in the process.

This featured some hilarious moments, from Lee berating referee Toby on the pitch, to deviously going for the votes, and of course the unveiling of the winner, very, very funny.

I just wish Anna had been involved here, this episode was crying out for Cruttenden. How nice to see Melvyn Hughes back on the screen and making people laugh once again.

Fortunately the show will be back for Series 14, and Lee if you're reading, please consider taking it beyond, it is still by far, the funniest thing on TV.

Loved it.

9/10.

Football: Great episode

Have thoroughly watching the new series of BBC's Not Going Out series 13 and this episode Football was a brilliant end to the series, with a great cast.

Lee Mack and Hugh Dennis are a fantastic duo as always, great banter between them and loved seeing comedy legend Melvyn Hayes! A great comedy actor. The football kids in the show, had small parts as Harvey, Nathan and Olly but were great too.

It's amazing how long Not Going Out has been going! Going to watch back some of the earlier series of Not Going Out, as they are some of my favourite episodes. Congratulations to Lee Mack and the cast for producing some good old British comedy humour over so many years.
