Really good pilot
jdknetflix8 July 2013
There are some smart folks putting this show together. Philly looks really great on this show and the cast and the story lines are generally believable. Seeing as how it's a show about the art and history of motorcycles I could have used some more shots of the guys building the bikes and demonstrating their chops. But I really liked the 'small business' tone of it all and hope they find similar ways of keeping the show grounded and refreshingly intimate (at least as far as unscripted TV goes). I hated Philly when I first moved down here but I just didn't get it. I now really dig this town and I think PT deftly flaunts a few of the reasons why.

I hope I stop hating the title of the show soon.

Bring back Philly

Hi my name is Paulus I live in Perth, Australia. We don't get many bike shows that repair and revamp vintage bikes such as the beautiful British bikes and this show Philly Throttle is awesome I own a triumph and had other British bikes Japanese and a harley. So please put this show back on.I am a person of few words so to write 10 lines wow. To watch Philly Throttle has given me some good ideas when Adam did the Norton as a cafe racer. The Ducati 250 when he bought it back to looking so epic The Matcheless was simply Awesome the beautiful woodwork on the side car and to see the smile on the fathers face was just epic.

Still Missing Philly Throttle

I doubt this show will ever be back, unfortunately, I was captivated from the very first episode and I'm a car guy not a bike guy. Adam is in my opinion nothing short of a genius. The cast is a perfect mix of characters that by themselves are unique and very "real" put them all together and you have the magic that made this show great. I don't know what the criteria is for deciding to continue some new shows versus cancel them but in my humble opinion Discovery threw away a diamond in the rough. Sadly no one had the insight or the foresight to see what potential this show and cast really had. I'm going to have to get the DVD and be satisfied with watching it over and over again as I'm sure every time I do I will notice another golden moment that the TV exec's obviously overlooked.

Scripted, Lame, Annoying - Canceled

Taken off the air after only 3 episodes... That must be some sort of record. No doubt, they have more episodes in the can, already produced and edited. Maybe some day they will surface as, "Philly Throttle, the Lost Episodes." The show concept was flawed. It was so obviously scripted and phony. It certainly failed in its appeal to motorcycle enthusiasts, and apparently it also failed with fans of so-called reality shows.

The show portrayed Adam as a largely dysfunctional, chain smoking cretin with little charisma. Most of the people that he surrounded himself were even more dysfunctional. I don't know any of them, and haven't met any of them, so I don't have any idea how true any of that may be. That's just the impression that I got from the show as a viewer.

As far as Adam "finally making it," as a result of the show, I don't see how it could possibly help his business. Would anyone who watched the show want to do business with him after seeing how he operates? I was hoping for a motorcycle centric show, well produced, showing a star in the industry producing good work. Instead, all we got to see was yet another lamely scripted reality show. Doesn't bode well for motorcycle shop shows as a genre.

Back to the drawing board.

Good show = great music

I think the show is pretty cool - it features lots of British bikes which is great. As I owned a 1946 BSA, seeing older bikes restored is brilliant and makes a change from seeing overweight Harley's being made even heavier and more unstable. I'm amazed they're still in business though - they rarely make a profit on anything!

Also, I'd love to know the details for some of the music used in the show.

There's some cracking tunes and I'd like to be able to identify the artists and look them up.

If anybody could point me in the right direction that would be ace.
