Well-acted (for the most part); poorly written
grandmastersik26 September 2014
Sigh, another low budget British gangster flick... if there were a handful of good ones, I'd have been more keen when sitting down, but at least I didn't have high hopes to be dashed.

And it's for the best, because the direction was confused, as - lacking a decent script and/or interesting characters - we got some arty shots mixed in with the some others used over and over, and cheap locations that really failed to make the actual bank job the film's all about, believable.

For some reason, a security guard has a gun (I don't know what banks the producers visit in England, if this seemed realistic) and the back-stories of each character were badly put together and not even remotely engaging. In fact, I'd say that the best character died first (well, okay, second), and where I wrote above that the acting was good, I was obviously neglecting the really CRAP cop who hunts the group of robbers down.

With 1,000s of films on Sky where this is presently playing, you didn't have any reason to watch this anyway, so just flick over to something else.

Average British heist movie! 3/10
leonblackwood12 July 2014
Review: I thought that this movie was going to be about football hooligans, but it's got nothing to do with football at all. Basically it's about a group of group of men who rob a bank and then go on the run from the law, taking a hostage with them. It's not your typical violent, cockney British gangster movie because the bunch of criminals really haven't got a clue about how there going to get away. It some ways it's a watchable comedy, but then the storyline gets interesting when the twists and turns of each individual situation comes into play. The acting is pretty average along with the storyline, but it's not as bad as a lot of British gangster movies that I have seen lately. Not Bad!

Round-Up: There are some recognisable faces in the movie, but there not A-listers. I can't see how this movie fits into the other films in this franchise and I thought that the ending could have been a bit better. I didn't have high expectations for the film so I wasn't totally disappointed, if anything, I was surprised that the director concentrated on the wit and the script more than the violence, sex and drugs, like many other movies in this genre. In all, it's a short movie which you end up sticking with, just to see how the story unfolds.

Budget: $3million Worldwide Gross: N/A

I recommend this movie to people who are into there heist movies about a group of bank robbers on the run. 3/10

And this months gangster movie release is.....
FlashCallahan18 September 2014
Warning: Spoilers
First off, it's got nothing at all to do with football hooliganism. There is one scene where one geeza' is telling a woman that he used to fight at football matches, but the fundamental part of the narrative is that there is a heist a guess what? It's only gone bloomin' wrong!!!

And he's avin' a larf!!!

That's the writer director that is. As you would expect, the film is the pits, and these films, like low budget horrors get released almost every other week here in the UK, the covers are more or less the same, and there is always some sort of scribing on the cover like 'the best British thriller since The Long Good Friday' to get the working class man worked up.

But it's like the director has watched too much Tarantino and Guy Ritchie movies and tried to do his own version. There are monologues about fast food, boxing and obviously a double cross, and its horrible to watch.

The characters are all stereotypical of this sort of movie, one has a heart of gold because of his past, one is a nutter, one is a family man, and one is ex forces who says a prayer before the robbery.

Righto then.

The supposed monologues are cringe worthy, the suits are something out of Buddy's Song, and there is a twist at the end, that irritates.

Oh and there is a bent copper. There's always a bent copper.

If I could put a scribing on the DVD cover, it would simply say 'pfft'.

meh why not
mynamesniall7 October 2014
i personally loved the movie however it is more of a guilty pleasure as i can tell it isn't a 'good' movie on technical terms however i did find it amusing.I do not believe it is at all representative, realistic or possible i did find in extremely entertaining it was more of a guilty pleasure watch and there is some good British humor in there (sorry yanks you just wont understand). its funny violent and just a 'lads' movie to watch with a pizza.

the 2 real negative comment i have is you can tell its a low budget movie what is disappointing as i fully believe with the right backing had potential to be great but my biggest criticism is i thought the movie was going to be about football hooliganism and the 'barmy army' but i think there might have been one reference to football throughout the whole movie which severely disappointed me

what a waste of time!!!
atcjriver16 June 2014
What a waste of time, well 25 minuets! Actually i only got about 25 minuets in, and that was because i wanted to see if it could get any better! which just added to the disappointment! You don't even need to see it through to the end to see where it's going..

Although I didn't bother waiting to find out where it went so i could be completely wrong about where it was going! But i didn't have 82 minuets to waste frankly.

Personally if you've got nothing else to do and like to watch a mediocre British gangster/psychopath killer/??? type film then I'd recommend taking up reading!!!

Poor
adehillier3 October 2014
Warning: Spoilers
There were certain points when i quite liked this, for me , the first 30 Min's but the incredibly poor decision to introduce a psychotic/maverick pursuer who we were supposed to believe was associated with the Police destroyed all semblance of realism. It was a shame as i was drawn to finding out what would happen until the end even though i ended up fast forwarding through the vignettes to give characters more depth i suppose but actually just slowed down the pace of the film. Ending up doing my own editing which is not a good sign. What really annoyed me was the ending as hate films that just bottle out on happy/sad ending. Felt the acting in the main was OK but as said previously the most charismatic character to go early was a strange decision.Female character was criminally under developed. Shame.

More Reservoir Dogs than Green Street
Leofwine_draca21 May 2018
Warning: Spoilers
DANGEROUS MIND OF A HOOLIGAN is another nonsense production and a slice of low-rent British crime. It feels more like a copy of RESERVOIR DOGS, with a bunch of pond-dwelling criminals falling out after a heist, than anything else, and it certainly has nothing to do with hooliganism. I tend to find that the presence of Simon Phillips in a film is a guarantee of ineptitude and so it proves here. This is packed with cheap camerawork, derivative scenarios, low rent action, and a script that replaces wit with incessant profanity. It's dumb and predictable, cheap and nasty, and entirely without merit.

IF YOU FAIL TO PLAN, YOU PLAN TO FAIL
nogodnomasters14 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Five hooligans of diverse backgrounds rob a bank wearing scary clown masks. As they make their getaway we are shown flashbacks of their hiring, some earlier scenes, and of the robbery itself. Things are not what they seem. The flashbacks were useful to supply the irony and twist. Some of the flashbacks worked better than the others.

Much of the film is conversation among the hooligans, thus we get to see inside their "dangerous mind". Our bad guys are being followed by a murderous detective who seems to know their every move, even when they aren't sure where they are going. Decent characters and dialogue.

Worth a rental.

Parental Guide: F-bomb. No sex or nudity

Confused Reservoir Dogs rip-off
searchanddestroy-116 April 2017
This is obviously evident, or evidently obvious that this crap from UK is a pure example of the new kind of British crime film industry and highly inspired from the early Quentin Tarantino's features. The new wave of the crime films that we find by batches since two decades now. Movies each one of them worst than the other, a sort of rivalry in crap, garbage race. The worst is not the lack of budget but the pretentious style, with complex stories used as decoys for the audience to forget the total dullness of those forgettable features. You may also find some HEAT inspiration too, especially during the heist sequence. I don't think that any one could be able to summarize correctly this non sense tale, this absurd corny film. This movie is although not the bottom of the garbage can. I have seen far far worse than this one. This kind of stuff could never be released in France, even straight to DVD releases. No way at all, no chance. Funny that the marksman character looks like Quentin Tarantino. Ha ha ha...
