What have I just watched?
Sexy-scientist12 November 2015
First of all, I want to clarify that I am not a Christian, nor have I read bible. With that being said, I didn't understand a bit of this movie. It was over dramatized and loaded with CGI. I felt so bored that I finished it in 5 sittings. The movie started so intense and remained that way till the end. From the first scene, I had no idea why all the characters were so stressed out, and till the end of the movie, I didn't get much idea either. It felt like I was watching the finale of season 6 without watching any previous episodes. The background score and makeup were exceptionally well. I know it was going to be a series and after cancellation, they released it as a movie, but did they just released the last 2 episodes??

The Great Controversy between Christ and Satan
starlightblue-692264 February 2017
Warning: Spoilers
It actually is a very compelling film which gives a lot of food for thought. One gets a bit of a glimpse of what it must have been like for the angels (both good and fallen) who had to experience the division and the developing as well continuing controversy between good and evil. I think that only those who are actually well acquainted with the Bible account should watch the film otherwise the story will be very difficult to follow and the whole point of the film lost. It isn't wholly theologically flawless. In spite of the continuous on-the-edge- of-your-seat intensity present throughout the film, some rather silly, only human-daily-living type of perspectives are injected into the script which will make one who knows the story, wince. One thing is very much felt though - this struggle was real. The loss of 1/3 of those angels was deeply felt by the others who chose to stay loyal. And for sure, it wasn't til the crucifixion, that ALL the angels (as well as the rest of the universe) really understood the true nature of Satan and his deep hate for humanity whom Christ came to save from his lies.

Most Powerful Hollywood Writing Yet
twelve-house-books28 August 2018
This is good Sci-Fi/Steampunk which tells the story of the Redemption of mankind from the angelic perspective. If you really want to understand the nuances of this film, though, you'll need to be familiar with the Record (kept by the Record Keeper). Of course what is meant is the Bible, which is really one long love story from our Creator to us (and maybe, as suggested in the film, to the angels as well, who may also have been recipients of the Redemption Process.) Corporate and syndicate lingo is used liberally throughout, which really brings the Story--the Record--up to speed for our own lives today. Great job to all involved! Keep doing it!

An allegorical retelling of the Biblical story of the war between good and evil.

Warning: Spoilers
I'm going to try and avoid spoilers, but there might be a couple. I don't think it will be anything that will ruin the movie for you. First off, it helps to have a Christian background going into this. The story is set in the aftermath of war in heaven and the expulsion of Lucifer and a third of the angels. You have to understand that setting in order to catch the nuances of what is an allegory. I loved the Steampunk setting. As another reviewer said, it was intense throughout, but given the stakes involved in the great controversy between good and evil in the universe, it's appropriately tense. The characters were well drawn. I loved the ninja angels. This is clearly NOT a documentary or even historical fiction. Like Jesus's story of the Rich Man and Lazarus, it is an allegory or parable told to make a point. If you are a Christian the story will affect you far more powerfully because you love God. If you're an atheist or anti-religious, you probably won't appreciate it. Well done all in all.

I think that is a sin... But the letter on the Bible so much stronger on this sci fi.

I don't like this esthetics of steampunk but I enjoyed the approach of the storyline
