Miami

Clive gets a taste of Miami Vice and he visits the set of the crime show with fast Ferraris and designer stubbles that revolutionised 1980s cop shows. It put Miami on the map.

Don Johnson is rather tongue in cheek as he interviewed by Clive. He is filming the last ever episode of the cop show that portrayed Miami as a city of drug lords. I think he really did want to see Clive parasail.

Of course Miami is really two distinct cities. When people think of the beaches and the art deco buildings, it really is Miami Beach. It was the cop show that ironically revitalised tourism. Until then Miami airport was where you stepped off to get to Orlando or the Florida Keys.

Clive goes looking for the crime hotspots, he even tours with the local police force. The most action he sees are two people arguing loudly in Spanish.

People of Cuban heritage form one of the largest ethnic groups in Miami and Clive even gets an interview with Gloria Estefan. She had little time for Miami's reputation as a crime cesspit.

More witticisms came from newspaper columnist Dave Barry, I think his humour was right up Clive's street.
