Warning: Spoilers
Warning do not read unless seen the episode.

This episode is really a set up for the upcoming three parter and I think it's a really good one. It's sort of ironic that their birthday is happening on Friday the 13th and their turning 13, seeing that you know it's a bad sign.

This episode was also a pivotal moment in the lives of both Dipper and Mabel, the fact that both are turning 13 really shows that these characters age which could also mean that in a future season or two (if made) we'll probably see grown versions of Dipper, Mabel, Wendy and the rest; I like seeing that really makes the characters seem more human and lets face it their turning 13 which means their not going to be kids/adolescents forever.

One funny moment was when Dipper says, "PG-13 films here I come". Wow Dipper that's kinda sad but also a parody on the pathetic standards violent films have came down to. To me becoming 13 was my time to finally see rated R films which was a blast for me; set your standards higher Dipper watch R rated films like "Rambo", "Cobra", "Robocop" (original version not that bull crap remake).

I liked that little adventure Dipper had with Ford. We discover another secret Gravity Falls had and it actually has proved one of my theories correct, a UFO crash landed on Gravity Falls thousands of years ago and was buried into the earth. It's not really that unusual after the Roswell incident there has been some indication of other towns which had a UFO encounter, most notably Ketsburg. It's also sort of an homage to John Carpenter's "The Thing".

The interior of the UFO was cool and raises hundreds of questions left and right. I'm wondering if this is part of the set up for Season 3, where next Dipper and the rest of the Mystery Squad are going to have to fight Aliens, that would be awesome. I even like the design of the sentry drones which are a little homage to the Flying Spheres from the "Phantasm" franchise. And of course it was cool seeing Dipper getting to use a magnet gun which looks like the kind of non cliché weapon for the "Rachet and Clank" video games, would no doubt like to see Dipper kick some ass with it more in Season 3.

Alright I'll finally level with you I don't trust Ford, I don't feel he is entirely on the level; I can't help but get sort of a Darth Sidious vibe from him because lets face it Ford hasn't given us enough reason to trust him, sure he's family but time can really change a person and we still have no idea what happened to him during his time in the dimensions. I get the feeling Ford has turned to the dark side of the force and has his own plans for the world. I also his plan of taking Dipper as his apprentice, it's his way of using Dipper for his own corrupt purposes, that's what happened with Anikin and Palpitine. I don't know I could be wrong we'll wait and see.

We then see a moment which was kinda emotional where both Mabel and Dipper encounter each other and Dipper gives Mabel the worst news possible that he is seriously considering to be Ford apprentice which means he won't come home with Mabel. Mabel of course reacts badly to this and runs away. Personally I feel Dipper has made the choice too quickly, let alone I don't feel it's entirely the right choice. Because one thing that I really didn't like about Ford's proposal is when he mentioned cutting away everyone from your life which I think is the worst lesson to teach anyone and what got the warning lights on Ford going. Heroes/Superheroes should be allowed to have a personal life, that's a right, to me a personal life is what helps give them strength so it reminds them what their fighting for, and a significant other or friend will always be there to support you when you need it. As an old saying goes, every ship needs a harbor. But also I feel Ford's proposal is what Yoda's warned about in "Empire Strikes Back" that it is the quick and easy path which is what leads to the dark side.

It then comes down to the final pivotal moment as Mabel deeply distressed and in the woods suddenly encounters Blendin Blandin whom is pretty much the bad angel figure to Mabel as he proposes to create a time bubble for her so that time would stand still and it would forever be summer and they would remain the same age, but in exchange she hands over the dimensional device to make it possible.

At that moment, I clearly knew something was rotten in Gravity Falls, because how the heck would Bendin even know about the dimensional device, his area of expertise or lack there of is in Time Travel and tech of the future, Dimetions would clearly be out of his depth. Also when did he ever give a crap about Mabel and Dipper let alone anyone, all he really cares about is himself. Also what Blendin proposed to do is impossible because time is in constant flux it can never be stopped.

Unfortunately Mabel is no quantum physicist and she is so much distress and desperate it overrides her better judgment, she gives into her own desperation and selfishness and gives Blendin the device which he breaks. But we then discover and I actually knew it that Bill Cypher has possessed Blendin to trick Mabel and now all hell is about to break loose.

Best episode of the show in my opinion. The 3 part finale was awesome and s2 ep11 was also really good but there was something about seeing the final scenes of this episode as a kid. I was so damn excited for the finale and I love a good cliffhanger.

Warning: Spoilers
Loved this few episodes of ease you get before you get to this one. Blend-in blandin's lil cameo was almost believable until he smashes the glass, haha. I think the way this set up the future episodes was very well done. The opening song and visuals change to really give the feel of uncertainty and absolute chaos.
