Cathy and Colin, Ian and Gordon arrive to celebrate Burns Night with Eric and Beth. To everyone's surprise Christine turns up, she is back early from visiting her daughter in North Wales and is full of complaints about the trip.
Eric is convalescing at home after a disastrous colonoscopy has left him in agony face down on the sofa. All he wants is to be left in peace, but that proves impossible thanks to the usual suspects.
Cathy and Colin return from holiday to find that their house has been broken into. Colin discovers that the perpetrator has left something in their house - in Cathy's knicker drawer.
Ian and Gordon take Beth out for a pub lunch to celebrate her birthday, which is hijacked first by an uninvited Christine, then by a drunk Colin and by an intimate photograph.
Returning from a quiz night at the pub everyone is encouraged to reveal their hidden talents, while Cathy is very bendy it turns out that Gordon is not as agile as expected.
A new couple on the street, Alan and Michelle, are invited over to Beth's to meet the neighbours. Everyone soon warms to them except Cathy whose competitive streak gets out of hand.
