Steadily working out the bugs
Mr-Fusion22 September 2017
A solid payoff indeed, bringing the team together and injecting some nice action into the mix. All of this without Voltron (again) but it more than makes up for that in character development for Pidge.

Any wheel-spinning that was the prior episode is pretty much forgotten here. The team is intact, and they're back on terra firma.

Coming together

Warning: Spoilers
Plot; Hunk and Coran attempt to find a new crystal while Pidge attempts to rescue the rest of the team and stop Sendak from stealing Voltron.

So far this rebooted version of Voltron has only worked in fits and starts; though I appear to be in the minority in believing this if the gushing reviews are any indication. But here we see things finally start to click a bit more consistently, and the methodically laid track--some may say a bit too methodically--finally starts to have some payoff. I wasn't quite sure about Pidge's surprise reveal in episode 3 *spoiler* that he is actually she, but with the backstory fleshed out it's actually an intriguing device with some interesting dramatic possibilities. The humor continues to land with a wet thud, but it's mostly relegated to Hunk and Coran, and if the story and drama continue to build upon this episode, it'll be but a minor complaint.

Doors opening on a new world

Warning: Spoilers
Second part of the castle invasion. Shiro and Lance are in trouble and getting saved by the others and that's an interesting dynamic on what is happening. Especially the fight at the end when they get the castle back.

On the other part we get to meet a new species, the Balmerans and that is really cool, they are really interesting in their designs and what they are. Really cool and imaginative. This is also fun to see Coran not being there in the background but taking part to the front lines and with Hunk. As watchers we get to see more aspects to Hunk him growing up through these adventures. As a character who does not really want to be there, he is turning up to be quite interesting and strong and making friends.
