Anybody who has read any of my other reviews for for example individual episodes of the 'Law and Order' shows, am slowly working my way through writing reviews for all the episodes of 'Law and Order' and 'Special Victims Unit' with a long way to go, will know already how much admiration there is from me for anything that tackles difficult and controversial themes and issues. The story for "Net Worth" can definitely be considered that and the kind where the execution could go either way.

"Net Worth" is a step in the right direction and is a big improvement on the very disappointing previous episodes "Surrender" and "Genes". While not a 'Special Victims Unit' high point, it is for me by quite some way one of the best episodes of Season 18, one of the few to be very good in a season that had some show low points, and the best episode since "Motherly Love". Standouts being the supporting cast, it being one of the best looking episodes of the season, that it is one of the few Season 18 episodes where issues with Olivia were few (with one exception) and that the rest of the team get bigger roles.

It's not a perfect episode by all means. Surprises are not many, though other episodes in the season did this far worse.

The biggest issue is Olivia being too persuasive and pushy with Zoe, which was becoming more apparent more and more in the latter seasons.

However, so much is good. It is one of the best looking episodes of Season 18, some lovely shots here. It is a slickly made episode, the editing especially having come on quite a bit from when the show first started (never was it a problem but it got more fluid with each episode up to this stage). The music is sparingly used and never seemed melodramatic, the theme tune easy to remember as usual. The direction is sympathetic enough without being too low key. The script is taut and thought provoking with no signs of blandness.

Acting is excellent from the regulars with no exception and even better is one of the season's best supporting casts, with a moving Missy Peregrym, a chillingly smug Tate Donovan (very different from his voice work in 'Hercules') and a jerk-ish Jordan Bridges. Peregrym also lays the first properly sympathetic and rootable victim of the season, actually could see her point of view regarding the testimony Loved that the investigating focused on other team members rather than Olivia, Rollins especially shines and it was great to see Fin in a bigger role.

Overall, very good. 8/10.

I guess $300,000 a year is chicken feed

Warning: Spoilers
This was one of the last good shows of the semi-old days. Super tightly edited, great interior shots. Story flowed really well.

However a major error. Benson says something like, "So they give this 26-year-old kid, who's making (slight sneer) $300,00 a year and they offer her a job making $5 million."

I get that people in the financial industry might feel $300,000 is chickenfeed, but a hardscrabble cop like Benson would no way speak so dismissively of that salary. Show was perfect until that moment.

Also $20 million to keep quiet came way to easily to Zoe. I don't think a visit from repentant Kate would make her change her mind so easily.

Dignity: The King is to Kill Never Easy

It's an episode with all the storylines we love in Season 18. It is a story where after a long hiatus the team and Olivia and Svu are in tune. Perhaps the best episode of Season 18.

Bankers and customers, corporations, giants, sharks and money money money... Every subject that money talks about is also difficult. Zoe and her struggle in the Story... The ways Olivia has created for her and for justice are commendable.

The writing and the words are very good... The efforts of persuasion are magnificent. Zoe and Eli guest star performances are great.

The billionaire house is ... exquisite, simply delicious ... money moneyyy moneyy ... love to Abba

Fin's reaction and jokes after seeing the house are very sweet.

There is an awaraness to make the laws of the 18. Season tradition noticed here as well. For example, rape is called when the victim tells that he does not want the relationship with his words and actions to stop... and he explains what happened during the rape as much as possible... Or Just like keeping silent with money, not suing, not testifying is as disreputable as rape.

It is explained in a very balanced way. It was not brought into our eyes in the script.

A prince of Wall Street

Warning: Spoilers
One fine morning the squad gets a visit from MIssy Peregrym who tells them she was raped. She's a stockbroker and that profession is kind of male dominated. In any event at a party she's raped by a Gordon Gekko type played by Tate Donovan.

Donovan is one powerful figure and few are willing to help Peregrym because no one wants to offend Donovan.

It's a tall order for the DA and the SVU squad to nail this guy. Peregrym gets solid moral support from Mariska Hargitay.

Good performance by Peregrym as the victim.
