Alice is a sweetheart. Her friends, coworkers, and particularly the doctor who pretends to like her now and again when he's not verbally abusing her, are awful. They make fun of her and gossip about her behind her back. Really, it's depressing just how lovely and kind of a person she is and how much they make fun of her instead of showing her any kindness in return. That said, her character is lovely and compelling enough to make the episode more than worthwhile, as long as you can get past the feeling of anxiety for her since she's too sweet to dump her awful friends by the wayside for all their nastiness.
