The show is brilliant and this episode will blow your mind. It's a perfect 10/10. If you're not watching this show, you are missing out on the best Sci-fi show since Battlestar Galactica. It may be even better than BSG because it's so unpredictable.

I can barely wait the week in between each episode ... I just want to say if you are not watching "The Expanse" ... start from the beginning now and prepare to have your mind blown! This season is particularly strong, and this episode I realized why I love it so much. It is completely engrossing, and impossible to predict. Besides our main crew currently being somewhat unkillable, I am completely shocked at least once an episode. I almost feel like I'm watching GOT sometimes how much I react to what is playing on the screen. Keep up the good work syfy, I am a fan for however long you make this show! Amazing episode, amazing everything.

Let's just FF to the beautiful center piece of this episode...
On the UNN flagship Agatha King, after receiving the comms that show Erinwright was involved in a conspiracy, Admiral Souther relieves Fleet Admiral Nguyen of command and broadcasts all this to both fleets. He is then executed by the fleet admiral, which is heard loud and clear by both fleets.
After the execution, two UNN ships rebel and start disengaging from the area. Nguyen, being an arrogant idiot, fires on one of them and destroys it. Like pouring gasoline on a flame, that just causes an all out melee to break out on the bridge and between the remaining UNN ships as they choose sides. When all is said and done, unfortunately Nguyen is left standing, well limping, with only two other officers alive. Several of the UNN ships even fire upon the Agatha King, which swats the attacks aside easily.
The MCRN fleet announces that it is remaining out of the fight but will render aid and assistance if called upon. Incensed, Nguyen launches the hybrids from the base on Io against the MCRN fleet, as a shocked Holden and crew look on.
What an episode with one hell of a cliffhanger!

Folks i watch almost every show, but this one i am totally in love with.
It's a fcing masterpiece to be honest.
Unpredictable, seems realistic, good actors, always a turn.
Even better than GOT.
I hope it will continue long enough, and the makers will receive some kind of award, they totally deserve it!

So Many Elements

The complexities displayed in this series are wonderful. We are used to nations fighting things out. Here it is set of galactic entities that used to be tied to one another. But all the worst of humanity has been let loose. Once again, the little guy who would never want war has to sit and watch his or her needs pushed aside for some zealous power mongers' needs. The thing that has been thrown in here is the protomolecule which has its own agenda and is being pushed forward by Mao, the worst of the worst.
The definition of Unpredictability!!

I have been watching this series because I was so disappointed by Game of Thrones season 8. The beginning of this series was slow and I almost stopped watching but then it got interesting. It keeps getting better and better with each season. So far, season 3 has been pretty amazing and this episode is pure insanity. The ending is just incredible. This is the best episode yet. I hope Amazon does not ruin it and turn it into another GoT.

Im a huge sci-fi fan since i remember myself and try to watch all good stuff coming out from TV, cable or streaming platforms (the new trend) but i couldnt find something really special the last decade. Actually the last show i can remember i was really hooked with was Galactica. And then came the expanse (and the orville)! this episode proves how brilliant this show is! If you are a scifi fan you already watching it (Im also reading the books at the same time because I fell in love with it), if you are not but you loved the first great 4 seasons of Game of Thrones, this is GoT in space and you DONT want to miss it! Brilliant!
Have any of the creators ever had contact with a real military?

Rarely have I seen such BS. I'm used to Hollywood taking liberties, but this episode stretches suspension of disbelief beyond the breaking point. When Admiral Souther mutinies, he doesn't deem it necessary to disarm the opposing Admiral Nguyen and his goons and immediately and secure the bridge, as every competent officer would do, to prevent exactly what happened next. Instead he starts to give his little mutiny speech while still surrounded by guns.
Then, without ever hearing any of the proof for the "illegal war" offered by Admiral Souther, 5 UN ships immediately join the mutiny without even asking for confirmation. Apparently chain of command or confirming they heard right means nothing to them.
And then a mutiny attempt happens AGAIN, because Admiral Nguyen, unwilling to learn a lesson from the demise of Admiral Souther, starts a little debate club ("...declare yourself now") in a tense and time-critical situation, while still surrounded by armed mutineers. He unsurprisingly and deservedly catches a bullet for that.
A military this incompetent and dysfunctional would have been taken apart by the opposing Mars forces within the first week of fighting. All the Mars forces would have had to do is to send a ship disguised as a UN ship into the battle, loudly declare "this war is illegal, you have been lied to" and the UN fleet would immediately start infighting and destroy itself, exactly as it did in this episode.
I would have given the episode one bonus star had the observing Martian commander laughed her ass off after witnessing the UN incompetence.
What really pisses me off is that this must have been intentional. Given that over a dozen people were involved in the creation of that scene, someone must have noticed the idiotic writing and unsuccessfully raised an objection.

What a thrilling episode, a number of breathless moments - the Expanse is a real treat and this season continues to deliver brilliance! This episode was excellent better than most if not all recent movies out there ;-)

This review contains spoilers.
The Expanse's fifth episode of the third season is entitled 'Triple Point'. The episode continues the story of the mutiny in the UN fleet. Admiral Nguyen continues his goal of destroying Mars. The crew of the Rocinante seek to end the research into the protomolecule by infiltrating Mao's research station.
Triple Point is an excellent episode of The Expanse. This episode has action, drama, and interesting effects. The episode also drives the central narrative arc of the protomolecule forward in an interesting way. This story became drastically more interesting with all of the players involved in the protomolecule coming forward and vying for dominance over the substance. It became interesting to see how reaching the goal has caused the worst traits in each of the nations to come forth. In addition it was nice to see the Martian fleet show humanity in treating the UN fleet during the mutiny.
This episode was executed incredibly well. The direction and cinematography play a great part in the enjoyability of this episode.
I would recommend the fifth episode of the third season in the Expanse.
Grade: A.
