Well Done!
rbr-4129921 May 2018
SPOILER: While a few reviews gave the episode an extremely low rating (really a "1"?), the conclusion was appropriate for the season story-line. I appreciated the emotional punch at the end, which genuinely affected me. These are characters we've come to love. But, the future is not bleak for the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. A sixth season will be aired. I fully expect Fitz to be recovered. And, how do we know that Coulson will actually die? You can be sure there is an escape hatch if the show-runners want to bring the character back. Remember that people thought Nick Fury was gone on more than one occasion. Many possibilities exist with the advent of Captain Marvel. I'll be anxiously waiting to find out what happens.

We say goodbye to the greatest hero from the Marvel universe
mike_ian9521 May 2018
Warning: Spoilers
From the moment we met him in Iron Man, Phillip J Coulson has proven to be the greatest hero of all the marvel heroes. The man who took a dagger through the heart and even lost an arm, without any super powers. His super power was his great morality and being able to put together a team of superheroes. I'm really sad to see him go, but I can also see it was time for hin to go.

Really excited for the next season (if it ever comes to that)

Season or Series Finale?!
sscialli19 May 2018
Either way Very nicely done and can be accepted as a season or series ending finale. As unexpected heroes come forth and shine, I was not disappointed. Thank You and Kudos to the production team for shining through all season!

Made me cry.
aarongnr19 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Although i think there are better season finales out there, none of them have got me to cry as much as i did here (and its VERY rare that i cry at all), but for some reason i just couldnt help it. It was just beautifully done.

If you ignore the big plothole that Daisy seems to be invincible and can be slammed to the ground from like 200 metres, then I think they did a very good job in this episode. And I think its poetic that she killed Talbot with the Serum from episode 1 mixed with her mothers DNA.

Well done, looking forward to season 6.

Fantastic!

Absolutely brilliant finale. I'm so glad that this show has been renewed, but, if it had been cancelled, I'd be just as satisfied. The last ten minutes are emotional as hell. I cried and laughed so much! xD

Beautiful finale for an amazing show.

Fantastic Series & Phenomenal Acting
dom_winchester26 May 2018
Warning: Spoilers
The awesomeness of this series has become over the years makes me appreciate how "sh!tty" the show was back in season 1. I am so glad to see the tremendous improvement in the progression of the development, visuals, acting and etc. While we love the series that has become one of the best, I am sure there are fans out there who miss the simplicity in season 1 like me.

Shoutout to Iain's flawless acting! 1. dorky nerdy science geek 2. mentally challenged and damaged soul/brain 3. Rage and determination to get the love of his life back 4. Conniving and evil terror of an alternate self 5. Psychologically disturbing psychopath who stops at nothing to achieve his immorally pragmatic objectives & fabulous portrayal of a death sequence.

GIVE THIS SHOW AND ITS ACTORS AN EMMY!!!!

This is my second time watching the episode and I want to cry forever
noorea-851475 May 2019
This episode is very emotional and features one of the most gut wrenching scenes on the show ever, and it has a number of them. There is action and fighting but the emotional moments are what makes it great. I also really love how it plays on the themes of sacrifice and what it means to sign up for a job where you know you can lose the person next to you but you still do it because it is what needs to be done, this has been a central theme of the show but it is really crystallized here in this episode. The first time I watched it I had some questions about the timeline and why things were different in previous loops, but this time I really didn't care, I was focused on the character moments knowing they will payoff. Now if you will excuse me, I'm going to cry until s6 premiers.

Doesn't matter how many times I rewatch...
flierpalisa25 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
... I still cry like a teenager even though I know what will happen by heart!

It's just... COULSON! He's the heart! I think I will always cry, even if I rewatch it again and already know what happens in the two remaining seasons.

Splendid end to the season. This series, with the Expanse, are my top two sci-fi series ever (so far).

best episode of the season, beacause...
mwbenz10 July 2018
It led up to this....

it was beautiful, frustrating and enlightening all within 43 minutes of airtime.

it gave us answers and want. both ends of the spectrum.

it fed some and it left some malnourished.

but, it doesn't take away from the fact that "network" television, (that is normally mediocre at best), allowed something to shine through -- regardless of its plot-holes and missing answers -- it gives you production value that allows you to transcend galaxies and pretend to wrap your head around the most complex (and benign) questions we're asking ourselves in 2018 (in our pop. cul. society).

<3 and hated it plot-wise, but the production value, acuity, cinematography, visual-effects are a few notches above anything in its league today, regardless of the sometimes laughable script-writing.

*** it's an escape from reality folks, and it does a great job of just that -- don't get too caught up in the plot-holes and you'll been in for a fantastic voyage.

Great episode, but a little bummed because.......
redstripes-8089213 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I just finished binge watching the season on Netflix and while it was a great ending, I had to come on here to mention this because something kinda irked me.

I kept waiting for the "snap". I had been waiting for it as soon as they mentioned in episode 19 that New York had been invaded and the Remorath kept on mentioning Thanos. My assumption was that THAT was how they would defeat General Talbot. He would get snapped out of existence. They also brought up several times throughout the season that Mack was gonna die and how "this was the last time anyone saw Daisy Johnson alive". And again, I assumed it was because they were gonna get snapped as well. But the snap never came.

Upon writing this, I'm now reading here that this was intended to be the series finale and if that's the case, I now understand why they ended it the way they did. They wanted a happier ending rather than a cliffhanger because of the snap. But since that season 6 has been confirmed, the continuity doesn't make sense now. Unless of course they actually start off season 6 with the snap, or at least the aftermath of it.

With a little more money, this would've been perfect
vartouhir7 April 2022
This is already a very strong episode just the way it is but I just know that if the network had been kind enough to give the team a little more money then it could've been one of the best episodes of the series and a strong series finale of it hadn't been renewed.

The best ep of season 5?
rcwgrimm2 November 2018
Warning: Spoilers
It wasn't the worst episode of the series. It had a good ending and people had happy endings. The only thing that got me was fitz' s death. So unnecessary. RIP Overall all it could have been a season or series finale. I was kind of mad that thanos snap did not effect them.

The future...
stuartcork723 July 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I understand some of the negative comments but do not agree with the intensity of them. This was not the best episode as it felt at times like a sequence of set pieces rather than the finalizing of the threads woven during this series but, it was still enjoyable and if it had been the last time we saw any of these characters then it was largely successful in providing an emotional send off.

Now for the Spoilers: I did pick up on a couple of Easter eggs/openings for the future during the extended epilogue(s). Coulson was alive but unconscious and Gemma had a resigned but comforted smile on her face as she settled Coulson down and monitored him (just before she realized why Mac was standing there and Fitz wasn't). Coulson, during his goodbye speech made it clear that he did not know about Fitz's passing. The model of the hula girl, and Coulson's line "it is indeed a wonderful place" as he stood on the beach of... Tahiti(?), if you have been watching this series from Season one then you know the significance of that!

I think that these latter two scenes could have occurred inside a Framework environment (as in the previous season) which they might have transferred Coulson's mind into, whilst they either tried to keep Coulson's body alive or give him an ongoing existence. And the other characters just went into it to say goodbye before going back to the real world.

As for the next series, then depending upon how fast and loose they want to play with quantum mechanics, they could bring the Fitz who was cryogenically frozen by Noah(? (the robot/Chroniton(?) who sent them all to the future in the first place??) back to Earth and revive him. They were careful to give Deke a send off before the timeline changed, so we do not know if he is still around or was indeed wiped from existence. Whichever they go for, the same would apply to Fitz if they brought him back.

Anyway- I guess we will see when the next series airs...

BS
paul-grant198231 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I regret watching this show again. Daisy is suddenly powerful again after a season where they warned about her destroying the planet.

Talbot mysteriously returns to a ship destroyed in the previous episode. Why he dragged the ship down is unclear. Also unclear, why they mention Thanos but then Talbot ignores that throughout.

And then the final battle. In a show as 2 dimensional as this Daisy runs at Talbot, he sees her but does nothing. Then grabs her and flies up for no reason. They crash down, without either breaking any bones and have a final battle where Daisy uses a hidden potion (made from her dead mothers blood). Somehow this helps her throw him into space and that's it. Situation resolved?!

As a season finally it has enough holes to sink and following season. Will I complete the rest of this tripe, only cause Disney+ can't recommend any better. 🤷‍♂️

The End
bobcobb30123 May 2018
Warning: Spoilers
It was clear this was not meant to be the end, but if it did need to be a series finale they could wrap things up properly.

I thought after building Talbot up so much he was beaten a bit too easy. If Daisy just had to inject herself to stop him why not do it much earlier?

A solid episode, but I hope they reboot things significantly in Season 6.

What a pity

I am really glad that this season is over, and even more glad that this great show did not end with this horrible season. If it is done in ten episode, could have good. Got really grow hating Daisy but all the characters went down this season.

Absolutely no tie-in to infinity war
user-6408620 May 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Completely wasted opportunity to cash in on the monumentous events of infinity war. 2 episodes ago all we got was an honorable mention of the name Thanos as the real threat, but then nothing but crying, hand-wringing indecisiveness, & the stupid battle of the power rangers.

They took the last 20minutes of this finale to cry about nonsense. And not one character turned to dust for what would have been an epic cliff hanger. I mean they killed a character with impalement! Would it have been so hard to just wipe them out due to the infinity gauntlet!!!??? That would have been too awesome I guess.

This show spent an entire season or more tying in the events of winter soldier and they made several episodes connected to Dark World & Asgard. But they couldn't bother connecting this show with the biggest superhero movie in history, that they own the rights to, by the way.

It would have been cool if they put some marvel content into their marvel show.

Lame and going downhill
tehlers19 May 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This show keeps dropping to new lows. I was sincerely hoping they'd drop Mack this season, he is awful. Making him head of the team seemed to be the solution for these tools. Horrible acting especially from the Coulson character. If they continue this show, new casting and writers are a must.
