I am an Australian who was on holiday in the USA and went to this show. It was recorded earlier in the evening and played later that night. I think they still do it that way. They recorded it as if it were live with the band playing full songs during the ad breaks (but not being shown in the show). I can make one addition to this show. It also featured Barbara Billingsley (of Leave It To Beaver fame) as the third guest. Sadly I could not find any youtube of this episode as it would have been a blast to see it again. We were disappointed Johnny was not hosting and had not heard of Jay Leno. Whatever became of him?
