Charming and informative!
Nikila2 November 2020
What a charming film this is! ZhiMin Hu gets right to the essence of intercultural relationships in a dynamic way that teaches and informs without feeling educational. She goes deep into some of the horrific history of Chinese intermarriage in Canada and how horribly people were treated yet manages to keep us feeling positive and optimistic through her explorations of many different couples and their situations. Thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend.

Artsy sampling of inevitable love
joeycitadel24 December 2021
Got a chance to watch online and enjoyed the uplifting and playful tone and energy right from the start. There are cute moments, interleaved with some very memorable scenes that would definitely strike the chord for many people. The documentary is less about the collisions and compromises between mainstream culture and Chinese culture, which is often depicted in media as an exotic existence, but more about the same humanity among people from all walks of life. It centers on the pursuit the love, overcoming all kinds of barriers and setbacks, and how love can happen in so many unexpected situations. Being Chinese is just a condition. Love is inevitable, and the flavors of these love stories are all very unique. It is a nice sampling of humanity, bringing the viewer a lens that sees a normal human being as equally precious and lovable. By the way, with the choice of just 5 couples, the representation / inclusiveness is already impressive. There are some very natural and relatable interactions among these couples that everyone can feel the sweetness, regardless of age or gender.

An honest and enlightening exploration of Asian-Caucasian relationships
daw-3697627 December 2020
An excellent film that dives deep into the delights and challenges of Canadian Asian-Caucasian relationships over the last 80-years. The experiences related by the participants were quite engaging and the filmmaker minimizes "talking heads" by immersing the viewer into the participant's lives. The film is filled with humor but also had me open-mouthed in disbelief at what one of the participants endured... ...you will learn a lot from this film. A must see for anyone in a mixed relationship, anyone considering one, or if you are curious to learn the truth.

Deeply problematic, inclusion lacking

I watched this documentary and was appalled at the lack of non-binary representation. We're not all Cisgender.
