When frank gives you that look of pity...
mysprouts-740-81385624 June 2021
You know you've really fallen. As much as i hated Fiona this season, Emmy rossums performance was authentic amd heartbreaking. If you're not crying at that last scene, you have no soul. She's broken. Everything she's been through has completely broken her and no one can reach her.

You'll Know the Bottom When You Hit It
bobcobb3016 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
There is a lot wrong with these storylines, and a lot of nonsense, but Fiona continues to be written so well and played so well by Emmy Rossum. Following her journey these 9 seasons has been great, and no one does a better job playing someone down on her luck.

Hands down best episode yet
tommyholman-8722316 May 2021
I dont know how to explain but this was my favorite episode yet. The whole thing felt like a movie and I was so engaged, I'm not sure how to feel right now that nothing in cinematic history will beat this georgous piece of art. And I'm seriously not joking.

What are the writers doing?!
agerson2425 February 2019
Fiona's horrible storyline aside, what are they doing to Lip and Debbie's characters?! Why are they suddenly having Debbie be gay this season- is it because Ian left so they need someone else? Like it makes no sense. And Lip.. This guy was a genius. Literally. And suddenly he gets kicked out of school and for 3 years the writers don't even address his intelligence and resourcefulness? I get he is an addict and been dealing with that but they aren't mutually exclusive. He can still be smart and be a recovering addict... And this Xan arc is just weird. It's been 9 seasons and none of the Gallagher siblings have said thank you or even acknowledged everything Fiona did for them growing up. They take it for granted and literally no one in the house is ever there for her or tries to help her. That's not just this season. And I think this is like the first episode all season that Kev or Veronica has even interacted with a Gallagher.. What are the writers doing to all these characters..

we get it - you're south side. stop saying it!
katertator2715 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
If you took a shot for every time fiona said she was south side in the past 3 or 4 episodes, you'd be drunker than, well, fiona. she's being a little baby. life doesn't owe you squat. her little speech at the alibi at the end made me hate her. absolutely. hate. her. take a hard look in the mirror, girl. you're frank. thank God she's only around for two more eps. are the writers trying to get me to hate her? I wouldn't watch this show any longer if I knew she was coming back.

So all of a sudden shameless is going to put Fiona down?? Like it's happened before but you're writing her off the show so you just show her having a absolute meltdown like come on man!!! Then lip convinces V to not let her stay after she was supporting her & him for god damn years!!! This is some bogus writing man

Like Father, Like Daughter
rhyllann13 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I know we love them all, but they ARE white trash. That's the entire point. Not everyone gets out of that alive (I am SO upset about what happened to Fiona, but it's a world of SHARKS out there; we don't just say that to be cute)--and she reverted to the one thing she probably vowed never to do: Her Father. This is how life works, people. Hence one of the titles this season's shows, Apple Does Not Fall Far. This demonstrates this FACT.

Another thing: What makes people feel so entitled?? If you are the last to pay the bills, you are the last to be served. This isn't social injustice, this is how it works. Regardless of ANYWHERE you are on the fiscal map, the party that pays first/up front/never late/actually pays are the ones who come first.

If you are providing a service, and one customer pays faithfully without fail and the other does the exact opposite, who are YOU going to make a priority??

This IS about fair!! Think about the ones providing the service. Put THEIR shoes on for a minute. Yeah. That's what I thought.

They do not know the bottom when they hit it
supermaggie26 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
It's a shame. The writers for Shameless have done a terrific job so far and even got better and better with every season. Now and then, however, they lapse into the Hollywood disease of poltical propaganda and cliched hate recently. And it happened again in this episode. And the particularly tragic / ironic thing about it is, that they even understand the wrongness of their/this doing when others do it. But let's start at the beginning: Fiona makes an inappropriate, out of place remark about Anne Frank - just to stay in (Hollywood-)practice of throwing some hate to the Germans (usually in order to deflect from American sins, and confronting these sins has been one of the strongpoints in the show otherwise). And what makes it even more twisted: later on in the show Frank gives a lecture about how the AA people "state the galactically obvious" and how this is "the very definition of narcissism". Did the writers actually not notice that they are talking about themselves? Using the same uncreative, hateful, overcome cliches over and over again? Very lazy, disappointing and - yes - narcissistic (and self-righteous) indeed. They obviously did not 'know the bottom when they hit it', either. I would have expected that from all the other hateful, untalented writers of shows like Criminal minds, Supernatural, all the CW stuff actually, etc., and we all remember the ridiculous faux pas by the ignorant iZombie-writers when they let a character pretend to be Austrian instead of German in order not to be associated with Hitler, while Hitler actually was Austrian and not German - haha, we had a good laugh!!! Well, I take it back, it is actually great fun to watch Hollywood embarrassing themselves with their hateful ignorance. It hurts to see what has become of a once great institution (founded by a German by the way, C. Laemmle), though, the last Academy Awards being further painful proof that there is nothing left of artistic integrity and just dull political propaganda, but at least in the end the joke is on them, as seen with iZombie's attempt to insult the Germans and ending up embarrassing themselves. While I stopped watching the other shows I mentioned and many more (I did not watch the Academy Awards either for the first time in many decades, just read a summary of the outcome - by the way: Glenn Close couldn't win, because she is blond, and Hollywood discriminates blondes, blond women in particular, right now, no wonder C. Theron dyed her hair) I am willing to give Shameless another chance hoping that they will focus on their essence and strong points again. This is/was what makes America great, not the pure, cowardly shifting of hate.
