the point?

Not sure why this was an episode of explained. We've evolved to value monogamy, but basically you should be in the relationship you and your partner want... okay, yes.

Monogamy, the new human way!

Really informative look and the short history of monogamy and some suggested reasons for it. Takes a historical perspective of monogamy and opens our eyes to just how animalistic we are. Entertaining and educational show that opened this viewers mind to all the possibilities and reasons monogamy seems to be so difficult for so many people.

copious amounts of misinformation

Warning: Spoilers
Multiple contradictive statements ie; "Humans have not evolved to be sexually monogamous (just firstly here sorry to break the quote, but we have, as have many other species, go do some study on AVPR1A) but we have evolved to be adaptive." - also misleading, its evolution that largely makes us adaptive, physical adaptations in an individuals lifetime are relatively limited. But now for the greater point, aside from both of those statements just being sensationalist bogus, they actually contradict each other with reference to the overall point. If we haven't evolved to be monogamous, then why is the fact we evolved to be adaptive going to have any bearing on us then being monogomous, the only alternative? If anything, stating we have evolved to be adaptive after saying we didn't evolve to be monogamous, is suggesting we may adapt TO monogamy?

All of this stemmed just from within the last minute of the episode. The preceding 17 minutes were just as dense.
