Somewhat confusing mish-mash that scratches the surface, but doesn't get to the point

I watched this because I thought it would try to get into the heart of the issues surrounding East Germans who sought to cross to the west in the days just before the Berlin Wall came down.

It started promisingly enough, but then ran somewhat off the rails with an unnecessarily complicated love angle that lost the thread of the movie. It didn't get back to the point, that Adam wasn't comfortable having to fend for himself in the west, until the last few minutes of the movie.

So, sure, watch it, some of the performances are good (Anne Kanis, in particular), but don't expect it to do any more than scratch the surface of the original premise.

... how long does it take for a woman to know she's 'with-child'

... the one IMDb user reviewer reflecting, the film's about relationships not politics, and the acting is fairly passable on the whole... what's wrong is that it all takes far too long getting anywhere throughout the entire one hour and forty unending minutes... watching scenery for half the movie becoming extremely boring very quickly remaining-so

... plus.. one dumb thing happening is something maybe can be looked past-ignored, but this production has a few too many to continually be overlooking... lots didn't make much sense, and it all ended with a finish not seemingly any better

... what's needed after watching this work is to read a few of the film critics reviews... you still might believe what you thought after first viewing, but watching it again, and once reading several of these reviews might alter your beliefs slightly/alot, or not.
