Dead Reckoning
audaciousness28 March 2019
Manifest's "Dead Reckoning" was actually decent, and surprisingly so. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they wrapped up the story introduced in "Off Radar" without stretching it out any further. While I still do believe that the 'find the missing passengers' story could have been 2-3 episodes long, I understand that this show loves to move an excruciatingly slow pace. Therefore, all things considered, it was nice to see things moving along for the first time.

Spoilers and ranting
Faith-Gibbs27 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Spoilers and ranting about character I loathe. It was a good episode but the end has given me the need to rant.

Shame that they got rid of Vance who was becoming a good character in this show. I character I loathe the most every single episode is Grace. Yeah we get it she thought her son and husband were dead for 5.5 years. She doesn't need to say that 10 times an episode every episode. In the flashback earlier this season she only cried about her son being gone and never her husband. She's selfish AF. She treats Ben as an inconvenience all the time and only seemed grateful for him when he came up with a plan to slowly repay the life insurance policy. When she says that she doesn't think this is right anymore, I wanted to slap Ben when he said he can't give her what she needs and deserves. Dude she's not good enough for him not the other way around.

Grace needs to change her name to Karen.

That ungrateful non contributing sponge has done nothing but whine moan and complain the whole season. And this episode was the topper. Why is Ben being such a simp?

How about an episode where they hook HER up to electrodes and zap her? For the whole 45 minutes? Judging by the other reviews here, it might be a hit ;D.

I just prayed to the calling...

Warning: Spoilers
... to please please PLEASE KILL GRACE asap.

I still love the show. You have to be willing to set reality aside, in every way, including the way normal people would react to a crazy situation like this. But all in all it's still addictive.

Entertaining except for one character

Glad they at least somewhat wrapped up the storyline with the missing passengers. Vance better not be dead, I'm hopeful since we didn't see a body. Grace is one of the worst characters I have seen on tv in a long time, enough said.

Please write Grace Stone off the show
bsimpson18930 November 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Well, this episode advances the story line. But the writers killed off one of the interesting characters (hopefully he's not actually dead) but left the most annoying (Grace).

Loved this One [8.5/10]

Warning: Spoilers
Reaction / Review for Manifest Season 1 Episode 9: Episode 8 was great and I gave it a rating of 8/10. New passenger becomes part of the team? Nice. Ben is right, the experiments need to stop or Cal is in danger. Wow this time all of them feel the torture? Things just got more interesting. Cal's nose is bleeding but he says he is fine? What's going on? Oh boy they are going in. Is everyone gone or the location is wrong? Now that's a cool fight scene. Wait Vance died? This sucks, I love his character. This sucks for Ben, all he wanted was to save his son. Jared is in the hospital, where is his wife? Until I see Vance's dead body I cant believe he is dead. Now that there are no more experiments I wonder what's next. Wow this woman works for the enemy? I didn't expect that. Overall a great episode, my rating is 8.5/10.

INSANE
Penroze29 July 2022
Holy moly so much happened in this episode. Like, so much. Like, oh my god. I almost feel like TOO much happened this time around. However, it was quite enjoyable; although for the wrong reason in some spots (Cal just makes me laugh any time he does anything).

Also, just an opinion about other peoples' opinions, but I feel other reviewers are too harsh towards Grace. I believe she is certainly in the wrong compared to Ben and doesn't understand as much as she thinks she does, but I also think her reactions are quite realistic given the situation. This episode took a pretty drastic direction with her though, so I suppose I somewhat get the hate.

Great episode, minus one person
tinjanurtles200318 June 2021
This would have been a 10 star episode, but every second I had to listen to Grace took off one star (sooo that puts it at like -1248 stars?) Never have I wanted to punch a fictional character as much as I do her.

I resurrected this old IMDB account just to write this. But looks like she is in this show for the long haul so guess we're stuck with her.

DID NO ONE SEE THE CRUCIAL TWIST?
pcdr-627205 December 2018
Maybe I'm off piste here, but I thought I saw a good girl go bad...doesn't anyone else think the shot where the blonde academic woman who wrote the theory of this whole 'brain control' thing gets in the back of the truck with the patients and says "See you" or some such, is a bit weird? I think she's become bad/always was, and has kidnapped them... Or not, as the case may be.

Yes, a spoiler but not like Everyone couldn't see this coming - so predictable
dobray29 November 2018
Warning: Spoilers
So Ben Stone goes with sister Mick and NSA guy Vance and Jared and a bunch of armed guys to find the missing 11 passengers that are being experimented on / tortured by a secret government group. Son Cal shows up out of nowhere to help and guide his dad on what to do. There's a lot of shooting and explosions. After they successfully save the 11, Ben takes Cal home in a blown up car, to find wife Grace in tears. She blows up because she thinks Ben has put Cal in danger. Ben breaks down and cries too, but fails to even attempt to explain what actually happened, so she completely melts down and says it's over and he has to leave. Really? Okay, it's a nutty story, but at least this time he has Mick and some others that were there with them to vouch for what happened. Yet Ben makes basically NO effort to explain any of it and says "Ok, I'm leaving but I have to take Cal with me". So I guess this is all leading somewhere, but it's getting old and lame and just wondering if it's worth watching any more. Is it just me ?

Ben didn't even try.
Ulite29 July 2022
I was waiting for this. This is the episode were they keep someone from doing the most natural thing so the story can happen. Ben had so much to say about the most important things in his entire life but he didn't even open his mouth other than to say "Ok, let's be really stupid right now and make the worst thinkable decision". I see that a lot of reviewers blame Grace for it but it is obviously Ben that suck in this episode. He didn't even try, so the story could happen.

And they did Lourdes dirty too. She couldn't see her husband when he needed her, so that other story can happen.

No spoilers, but...lol
rsvp32128 November 2018
...absolutely *every* character cries, in this boring, predictable episode.

Continues to get worse, every episode. Only a few minutes of very vague sci fi, the rest is very emotional family problems.

I see that there's a long break in episode releases, after this one. Fortunately, I'm not going to miss it.

Boring
siposkinga8 December 2018
There is a 10-Minutes entertainment in each episode, the rest is sheer illogical action put next to each other. It's more and more like Lost: at first it was interesting because of the mystery that seems to link the passengers together, but when simple human actions fail to follow normal paths, you lose interest and just don't care who dies and who survives. At least this is where I am after the 8th episode.

not just grace
tifaking-1112221 September 2022
I dont think that grace is the only issue with the show its becoming slower every episode.

Ben is a mathematician claim to be a man of knowledge and science yet he acts like a teenager and still the character persona has zero logical and critical thinking.

Michaela persona is good but without her love story of jared why turning "supposedly" a tough police girl into a crying baby everytime jared comes

grace just kill her

main story is going down, side stories are too much and not good at anyway writers should focus on main story more side stories is not going with the dynamics of the characters.

Last thing grace should kill herself it would be more interesting.

Sob fest
Faristuta26 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Episode could've been much shorter if it wasn't for the sob fest at every possible occasion. Even with an episode packed with action, it's starting to lose its steam.
