Mediocre action movie, but what else did you expect?
carlos-pires12 April 2020
I give it 3 stars because it is actually entertaining, if you want to kill an hour. Main character is so obnoxious and the whole plot is so silly that it is actually funny.

Who keeps funding Justin Lee's garbage films??
Top_Dawg_Critic10 March 2020
Note to self: Check to see who directed, produced and wrote a film before you see it, and if it's Justin Lee, just don't!

This is the 3rd or 4th Justin Lee mess I've seen, and it's slightly better than the previous, mainly for the silly comedic attempts he made in this one, not to mention casting some bad-ass actors, albeit for a few minutes at a time.

What Lee improved on from his previous messes, was hiring a good cinematographer that I'm sure did his best with Lee's terrible directing and screenplay. The score was actually bearable in this film. But having Ed Morrone spew out the stupidest dialogue, and act like he was on speed trying to crack jokes, was a huge fail. Either make this a drama/thriller, or a comedy. Had it been a comedy, casting Keegan-Michael Key instead of Monroe would've made this film a hit, because that's who I thought of when I heard every lame joke that would've been jokes if delivered by Key - plus they have a similar look. The writing was so predictable full of plot and technical issues. The girl kicks his ass more than anyone else, whilst trowing vases and pans back and forth? Really smh? And what personal protection service would send, let alone hire an obnoxious loud annoying moron like Morrone's character?

Not sure if Lee's has rich parents that don't mind throwing away money on his flop films, but maybe he should take some of that and go to a professional film school. A generous 3/10 for the cinematography and bloopers in the end

There could be snipers behind those trees.
nogodnomasters9 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Mickey Rome (Ed Morrone) is an aging protection specialist who can no longer handle the stress and wants to retire. His boss Carl Reiser (Billy Zane) sends him on one last job to Costa Rica to protect a couple who embezzled millions from the mafia. The film has flashbacks as we see that Mickey misses more than he hits, but gets the job done. It has the typical tough-guy action laced with some humor. Danny Trejo has a role much smaller than his billing. Fun action film.

Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity.

The Best Final Moment when the movie ends because you will straight away hate this film
nikola1731 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Oh my lord what in heck did i just watch wow this is most worst film i have ever seen in my life the worst film ever, you have characters you don't give a crap about, you have stupid lines in film, you have lame action that went for 30 seconds lame action, wasted actors, the completely worst film how in earth did this get a green light? also Randy Couture i am die hard fan of him i loved him in UFC days, i liked him as actor like Expendables 1-3, Hijacked was okay just for Randy Couture, but with this movie he promote this movie?? i am like how in earth Randy is promoting a movie like this?? give me a break really? he has Expendables 4 planned he has script for it but somehow production has trouble making that 4th film but he promoted this? give me a break rather helping solving problem production for 4th Expendables but he helps and Promote this film? why i am not so surprised at all this film is pointless, dumb like a kid from grade 2 written this movie the writing of film with silly lines.

you have a lead character Mickey Rome ( Ed Morrone) that i have never seen before i don't understand why would he be in this movie he doesn't look like type of guy to be in action movies with his voice he sounds like guy to be in comedy movies he can play idiot at supermarket that's what his character is a prick this meant to be a series movie like this cast a lead guy who is a worst actor ever his character is worst his voice is high pitched voice sounds like High pitched voice with a abrasive personality that makes him a 10 times asshole he is i hate lead character he is in all movie more then any another cast or if your

curious Danny Trejo is in movie for like 20 seconds if you blink you will miss it he say's few lines in film witch made me laugh then he dies wasted of Trejo for no reason. Billy Zane given nothing to do, Randy Couture has given absolutely nothing he has 2 PARTS in movie the reason why he has big name in this movie is because he promoted this film, he promoted this film? come on Randy you know better then this why in earth would he promote this sloppy film witch has very lame action very lame the trailer shows everything, everything you see in trailer showed untie all film that's it.

the story follows Mickey Rome (Ed Morrone) who wants no jobs anymore he had enough he is meant to be protector or bodyguard whatever you wanna call it because he is a predictable prick he is he visits Deacon Long (Randy Couture) only in it for 4 minutes Ed sees his boss Carl Riser (Billy Zane) who is only in it for 3 minutes giving him a job that Ed doesn't want it he is an aging protection specialist who can no longer handle the stress and wants to retire. but it's his last job to go to Costa Rica to product the guy and girl who stole money from ruthless family i hate his voice his lines in movie he says like their could be monkeys humping on tree's like he is trying to say There could be snipers behind those trees because someone will kill those 2 rich theft's that's all story in film it was a lame film i have ever seen you care about nothing about characters, everyone in this movie is totally wasted like Randy Couture and

Billy Zane, Johnny Messner how did i forgot about that guy completely wasted. the action was so lame, i don't know if this meant to be comedy film or some joke but this film with a lead guy who can be in comedy films playing a jerk just like how he is in this movie, the action? what opening Ed using a small revolver 38 rather then him using a M1911 or sauer P226 he uses a stupid little handgun, when he is out of bullets he will use a M1911 i am like how about use a M1911 then use little p*ssy as 38 revolver that gun is like what mafia's would use in 1930's or cops. the action never lasted long Ed Morrone sucks in action movies the way how is act's in film sounds like he can be comedy movies not in this type of crap. or yeah the director i never heard of Justin Lee makes a lot of tons of crap of movies he is a totally mess he sucks at making action movies he really is. But having Ed Morrone spew out the stupidest dialogue, and act like he was on speed trying to crack jokes, was a huge fail. Either make this a drama/thriller, or a comedy. Had it been a comedy, casting Keegan-Michael Key or Sebastian Maniscalco instead of both of them would've made this film a hit,

because that's who I thought of when I heard every lame joke that would've been jokes if delivered by Key and Sebastian and yeah Ed Morrone is a discounted version of Keegan-Michael Key. i don't know why could of Randy Couture could been lead star when he promoted this movie or have Johnny Messner as lead without stupid silly jokes in it. this film is not totally worth it i hated this film i hated everything about it if Randy Couture was never was cast in this movie or Danny Trejo this film i would never watch it at all i thought this

dumbest film the worstest film like i can take it anymore, the lead character like i want to see him getting killed off i hated him i really do he is annoying as hell i never highly recommended this film at the action was just terrible don't expect to think or Randy couture has got action in movie or Danny Trejo who is wasted in film doesn't get scene with Couture at all 1.10 never again while you watch this movie best thing final moment when movie ends their are stupid mid credits and ending credit scene that you don't want to see at all.

This Is Silly
genious-354137 March 2020
If you're a smart person and you see the movie cover or poster, you're not even reading this. If you're a dumb person and a movie cover or poster showing one, two or even three guys pointing a gun and it makes you tink it's a good movie, you're not reading this because, simply put, you're not a reader. If you're in the middle of the pack and have enough common sense to know that you don't want to waste your time on garbage movies for garbage people, you MIGHT read this review. Go with your gut. Your gut said this movie is likely another slapped together mess with lots of loud music to mask the poor scene setting and occasional quips by tough guys - all stolen from movies like Die Hard... or Die Harder.. Or Die Hardest... Or Die Harder Most Deadly... Your gut is right: This movie isn't worth your time. It's not even worth your time reading this stupid review. It's time to stop churning out garbage like this. It's a waste of resources and the only way to stop this is by NOT giving it a chance to begin with. DO NOT SEE THIS MOVIE! Do not encourage producers to make this stuff. This is why theaters only show Star Wars, Comic Book Movies and Fast and Furious movies.

"You can drink all the fruity drinks you want"
hwg1957-102-26570420 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
There can't be many movies with such an annoying main lead like Ed Morrone who plays Mickey Rome, a protection agent who does one last job against his inclination, a plot point as old as the movies. Presumably Rome was meant to be witty and likeable but all I could think was, why don't you just shut up! The dialogue in the film is embarrassingly juvenile and the direction was second-rate. It didn't look too awful cinematically but from its silly opening to its unresolved conclusion this film was a chore to sit through, if not agonising to behold. I only watched it because Billy Zane was in it and sadly he was hardly in it but he was watchable as always. When Mr. Zane is off screen it is a tedious and trite movie.

Erratic bodyguard to protect billions dollars theft.
saptesh78615 March 2020
A security firm appoints an old and erratic bodyguard to protect a couple who takes billions dollars with accounting fraud. Everything going right till a breach in firms' another appointment which turns in wrong turn. Story is simple but good acting by Rome is bind you till end. Not so good nor so bad only once time watchable for a different kind of bodyguard's assignment.

Mind numbingly boring
israelfavela-3376030 December 2020
Barely even an action movie. A lot of talking throughout the movie. The dialogue is solid and the plot is okay but the movie really drags on. If you're looking for an entraining action movie there are far better options. The minimal action is laughable and the movie ends extremely abruptly with an anticlimactic confrontation.

Great Performance by Ed Morrone
docm-3230424 April 2021
The opening scene is hilarious and I loved the character played by Morrone. It's not your everyday action film, but that's what made it interesting. As mentioned by others, be sure to watch right to the end of the credits.

Painful
dcmair20 February 2022
This entire movie felt like a poorly done ripoff of a Quentin Tarantino film. It was predictable with lots of bad acting (which I have to believe is due to the writing and directing more than (most of) the actors. Had I not paid for it I wouldn't have even finished watching, it was that bad.

markrory1004 May 2020
I did watch the entire movie, which is more than I can say for Uncut Gems. The plot has a lot of potential for an action movie, but the action is not in this movie. If you watch it don't expect too much.

It's Ridiculous Fun...
baldy_man8 March 2020
This film was probably made on a budget of around £1000. However, if you see past the cheapness of it, it's a watchable shoot em and punch the crap out of em kind of film. It passed a couple of hours on a Sunday afternoon....

Surprisingly good film. Excellent character development and dialogue, wonderful acting, and a wonderful blend of humor, drama and action. An intelligent, funny, and at time poignant film that is so much more than how the film is presented.

I appreciated this movie.
princesscedarrain15 April 2020
I tried looking to see if it had a Wikipedia page to learn more about the film. There wasnt one, and there really wasnt any information besides movie websites giving a basic message about the movie story. I think it was good and I appreciated watching it.

VIEWS ON FILM review of Final Kill
burlesonjesse511 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
"That's it for story time". 2020's Final Kill (my latest review) has a "story" but a weird and silly way in which it goes about it. I'm wondering why Billy Zane would appear in "Kill", I'm wondering why Danny Trejo would be in one scene for thirty seconds, and I'm wondering why Dr. Drew Pinksy would make such a random cameo (the dude's not even an actor).

Anyway, "Kill" at a running time of 80 minutes, is a so-called action film with more annoying dialogue than action. It's like the type of B-movie schlock that Bruce Willis would appear in regularly (apparently he wasn't available). It's also the type of patchwork flick that Adam Stephen Kelly would do on holiday (remember Kill Kane?)

Now does Final Kill literally fail to take itself seriously? Oh you betcha. And does its gnawing of bad, tongue-in-cheek labor and strained line readings get to you? Oh for sure.

The director of "Kill" is Mr. Justin Lee. His filming of shootouts is shoddy, his notion of wrapping everything up quickly is evident, his twists and turns are archaic for the viewer, and his use of chance flashbacks is obligatory to the nth degree.

Distributed by Cinedigm (they like to get involved in little-seen endeavors) and garnered without a rating (I would have gone with a weak R), First Kill is about a protection specialist who takes on one last job. He must protect a husband and wife who have stolen 8 million dollars from a well known crime outfit.

Ed Morrone plays said protection specialist and his performance is like nails on a chalkboard. He's not a bad actor but he clearly doesn't think the audience knows how irksome he truly is.

Bottom line: First Kill clearly didn't need to be made (but sadly it was). Once is the "final" time I will ever see it. Look for a low budget feel despite some gleaming shots of palm-treed Costa Rica (I sure hope it was Costa Rica). Rating: 1 and a half stars.

I liked the set up despite it's budget constraints.
jordondave-280851 April 2023
(2020) Final Kill ACTION CRIME DRAMA

Co-produced, written and directed by Justin Lee with protection specialist, Mickey Rome (Ed Morrone) who has so far has a perfect record of protecting his clients, but as soon as he announces his retirement his boss, Carl (Billy Zane) convinces him to do just one last job. It regards Mickey having to guard a couple for the 'witnesses for the prosecution' of Ray (Edward Finlay) and Camilla Bauer (Anita Leeman) Torres who they agreed to testify against the gangsters who they stole money from. My raring might've been higher had it gotten a bigger budget. Therefore, my rating is no more thank a pass!
