This was a very sad film, but extremely well done. The farmer couple faced insurmountable obstacles, but the woman held them together. My only quibble was with the ending. If they couldn't make their mortgage payments, how could they afford to travel across the country?

Beautiful story of the plight of the farmer

Everything about the movie is beautiful from the acting to the scenery. With everything going on in the world, it helps put things in perspective. The love between the two main characters, sweet loving Mary Lou and stubborn but good hearted John, is what love should be about.
Superb performances

This is a story that needed to be told, especially in 2020. Herman Johansen and Kathleen Warfel portrayed the Martins (no, rather they became the Martins). We found the story, scenery and characters spellbinding. The sound quality, however, sucked. With the volume set so that we could understand the dialog, the musical soundtrack was unbearably loud, brassy, poorly recorded and spoiled this otherwise memorable local Kansas/Missouri production.
I love this movie!

This compelling story is heart wrenching yet heartwarming. The photography is gorgeous and the acting superb. Herman Johanson's acting is masterful as he unpeels the layers of a farmer in the process of losing his precious, beloved land. And Kathleen Warfel, as his long suffering, resourceful and supportive wife, is amazing! It's ultimately a very uplifting, life affirming message emphasizing the strength and resilience of the human spirit.
