Like other reviewers have said this episode didn't not include Maggie & OA as much, however the episode was good, well thought out & interesting. I like the new characters. I hope to see this new show next year.

Yes, this is a pilot for a possible spinoff, FBI: Most Wanted.

That appears to be what Dick Wolf does, use a current show to make more. Think the numerous Law & Order series, the Chicago XX, series. Not bad work if you can get it.
I suppose how you feel about the proposed new series, and this episode, depends on how much you like Julian McMahon, Roxy Sternberg, Keisha Castle-Hughes, Kellan Lutz, and Alana De La Garza. They appear to be the principles of the new series.
Julian McMahon I know most from Profile, Charmed, and Nip/Tuck. I would watch the new series with him.
Alana De La Garza may be in danger of being type-cast, her last show she was also FBI, although from another TV universe. Maybe because she does it so well?
This was written by long-time Dick Wolf collaborator, Rene Balcer. It was directed by another Dick Wolf colleague, Fred Berner. Both did a good job, although I could do with less of the hand-held shaky cam.
As for Maggie and OA, they should be back in two weeks.
Fair warning, next week is the premier of another show created by 'FBI' Exec Producer, Craig Turk.

Story is based on an FBI Most Wanted who is still on the loose...

Robert William Fisher, on April 10, 2001 murdered hie wife, Mary, and her two children, Brittney, 12 and Bobby, 10. He then blew up the house exactly as described in the "Most Wanted" episode and then left in his wife's car. On June 29, 2002, the FBI Ten Most Wanted List. He remains at large.
You can go to Wikipedia and enter "Robert William Fisher" for the full story.
I find it very interesting that the writers would use the plot of an actual crime and then embellish the facts and completely alter the ending.

"Most Wanted"
allmoviesfan5 March 2024
"Most Wanted" is definitely the most violent and arguably the most disturbing episode of FBI thus far.
It's also a backdoor pilot for "FBI: Most Wanted" whose cast, led by the eccentric and enigmatic Supervisory Special Agent Jess LaCroix (played by Australia's Julian McMahon) are the real stars of this episode, with the original FBI cast basically down to a few cameo appearances here and there.
(LaCroix's crack team - as you might have gathered from the title of their unit - hunts down targets on the Most Wanted list.)
SSA LaCroix gives me Leroy Jethro Gibbs vibes, although the sample size is small. Can't wait to watch 'Most Wanted' and see where McMahon takes him.
Gripping tension and drama from start to finish. Really, really liked the 'Most Wanted' cast.

Backdoor Pilot for New Show.
awestcott-963963 April 2019
This was a backdoor pilot for the FBI spinoff show. It was not executed very well, especially since Dick Wolf has been doing this for years. The backdoor pilots for the Chicago shows were excellent, this one lacked the connection between the two shows (FBI and Most Wanted). Usually the characters from the main show are still the focus in a backdoor pilot.
Still watching... but confused... and disappointed

True fan of this show but this episode is confusing. Where are Maggie and OA? Appreciate supporting cast but we watch because of your main characters. (Was thrilled to see Missy Peregrym in a main role she's worthy of! And paired with TV newcomer Zeeko Zaki was genius! Love their chemistry, depth and budding connection as partners- or other.)
Hopefully, they'll be present more in rest of episodes this season. (Fyi- Great job Matthew Lillard as the villian. So talented!) Keep Maggie and OA featured please!
Needs work to survive as a spin-off

Problem #1 A series lead needs to be engaging and at least marginally sympathetic and Julian McMahon just isn't. Not sure if it's the writing or if McMahaon has played so many bad guys he doesn't know how to play anything else. Either way, hoping the real bad guy shoots him isn't the best way to start out.
Problem #2 The rest of the characters stories were so thin they were practically transparent. I guess the blond guy is the team techie but the others were just faces in a crowd.
Problem #3 Plot pacing was very jerky with holes big enough to drive a truck through.
Maybe it'll find it's footing if it gets picked up but it won't last long if it continues as it started out.
Worst episode so far

What the heck!

I love this show normally, but last night's episode was painful to watch in every way. Graphic violence, unsympathetic lead character, and about zero charisma from the entire cast. Even the little girl seemed suspect. Come on! Not anything like the usual format. Hope we don't have to watch any more of that mess. I just wanted it to end.
Why?

Worst backdoor pilot for a Spin Off yet...
moviethoughts-762766 October 2019
I understand they are setting up a new spin off but this back-door pilot was more of a front-door pilot. The new cast completely took over the original show and there was no cohesive story-line of melding of the casts. This is ridiculous. I watch FBI because of the characters. I struggled to get through this mess of an episode.
Based off this new casts' lack of chemistry i'm not holding my breath on the viability of the new spin off 'FBI: Most Wanted'

Terrible!!! Not the REAL FBI Show - A SPINOFF

Warning: Spoilers
Thanks to CBS for ruining one of my favorite shows with their crummy spinoff Most Wanted. I gave an extra STAR for Maggie from the real FBI appearing at the end. Ruin NCIS with this junk. FBI is a great show. Either show your crummy spinoff separate or show the outstanding FBI show with Maggie, OA, Jubal, Kristen and Dana. Bad acting by the crazy guy too! Horrible horrible show. Don't do this to the real FBI show again!!! CBS and Dick Wolf should be embarrassed over the Most Wanted spinoff!!!
This is NOT FBI!!
bobocop-481-5328054 April 2019
This episode was way off base. The central characters were barely in it and the I could barely watch the resultant episode. We watch because we empathise with Maggie and OA. I just could not feel for the he stand in characters, or get into the resulting storyline. A dud in every way.
Where are Maggie and OA

Stupid ending
CrimeDrama124 June 2022
My reviews comes after the season 4 finale was canceled on the same day as the school massacre in Uvalde, TX, even though the season finales for the two spin-offs aired that night. CBS has stupid management, writers and producers - not to mention Julian McMahon's selfish decision AFTER season 3 had started, to exit his contract so he can pursue other opportunities. What a jerk! The season 4 finale should have been available on Paramount Plus. He cost at least three actors their jobs as well. I will never watch future shows or movies he is in. Did anyone else notice McMahon's mistake before the final showdown? He never said a word after Jess started fighting with the killer's brother. I don't blame the writers because McMahon has proven that he believes he is bigger than the show. What a jerk. Even when FBI team members ask Jess a question, he says nothing. What is the point of having a partner in the house? At least letting your partner know your location is realistic. In terms of crime dramas, I already expect bad things to happen when there is no backup nearby. It happened all of the time on "Criminal Minds". However, Jess had backup but she couldn't read his mind. Finally, with so many changes to the cast of "FBI: Most Wanted", it may not last. If the season 4 finale of "FBI" is never available, I hope others will join me in boycotting CBS. The network has been steadily going downhill for two years. I am fed up. This specific episode aired on Pop Network and I set my DVR to record it - not knowing it was the crossover/spinoff.
Leaves little desire to check out the spin off.

Throw away episode that's a pilot for a spin off. The guest actors are great but the team for the new show is sub par and highly unlikeable. Who chooses these actors and why do they worry so much about diversity rather than solid acting and quality characters. This team is like a rainbow with no pot of gold at the end.
