If I take 5 of my friends and a cam, I'm more than sure we'll make a better movie.

Trust me, there's nothing to see in this movie... except a pair of breasts for about two minutes, for those who are interested in this kind of stuff :)))

There's nothing to worth a watch; bad camera work, bad acting, bad directing, absolutely no effects and a wretched scenery (a few red/green lights, a few blankets and bed sheets and some time to time a couple of SF pictures to show the location :))) Pathetic !

Really Painful ! Avoid it !

A masterpiece at that time, an ordinary movie at the moment. I liked the movie. A very good horror-thriller. It isn't scary and it is boring sometimes, but that's the way it had to be for those times. A lot of movies that were made after this one (till these days) are much better, but we have to keep in mind that those times were different than nowadays. People had a different manner of thinking; the conception, the ideology and especially the prejudice were different... were much stronger than today. So that's why horror-thriller movies like Hitchcock's or Stephen king's are considered somehow masterpieces. Because those movies gave the start (and many ideas) for the following of this genre. Those movies were somehow "pioneers" for the genre (especially for psychological horror-thriller genre). So... "The Shining" is a good movie. Watch it if you like the genre.

No offence for those who liked this movie, but I didn't like this movie at all. I went to cinema expecting to see something much better than "American Outlaws" (which is an excellent movie, by the way), but I was totally disappointed. It was very, very boring. Long and boring. I guess I was expecting much more action and ... there was almost no action... It's a very.. "statical" movie... almost like a theater play... It should have represented at least a part of Jesse James life (robbering and being chased), finalizing with his assassination by Robert Ford, and Robert Ford's assassination, so they can justify those 3 hours this movie runs... No doubt, acting was very good, but... that's all. I saw all kind of movies, I like almost all kind of genres. This is definitely a drama, more or less biographical and a little bit western (only because of the time events took place). So... my opinion (and my friends opinion and everyone I asked opinion) is that it's a mediocre movie. For its action and drama intensity is no more than a 6/10 stars rating movie. It doesn't deserve to be considered a brilliant movie just because it has a good acting and good and known actors. I've seen a lot of dramas, westerns or biographical movies much better than this one with little stars rating. Only because Brad Pitt and Casey Affleck plays in this movie and their acting is brilliant doesn't make this movie brilliant. It makes it good... mediocre. If there weren't Brad Pitt and Casey Affleck and another 2-3 actors... no one would have liked this movie so much. There is a word.. "Each one with his tastes"... so I didn't judge those who loved the movie... no way.. I only told you my opinion and the only logical explanation I found for that exaggerated rating.

P.S.: I didn't grant this movie 1/10 because I think this is the best it deserves. No, I gave it minimum because of those who voted 10/10 only because Brad Pitt plays in this movie, or those who like Jesse James or western stories and that's why I was so angry. In my opinion a fair vote is 6.5/10

I give you a little piece of advice; if you like thriller/horror movies, than watch this movie, but if you don't like these two genres, then look for another movie, so you won't say stupid things like some other users... So, don't listen to those who say this movie sucks. Because it doesn't. It's quite good. I have three possible explanations for those who say this movie is bad... they don't have tastes in matters of movies, or they don't like thriller/horror movies and that's why they have these non interesting opinions, or... they don't know what thriller and horror genres means, so they should learn about movie genres before they post a comment. Returning to the movie... I say it's well done. Good action, good acting, good scenery, good costumes and make-up. The script was pretty good, too. I said "pretty good" because there were some errors in the script, like an exaggerated and not real behaviour of some of the soldiers in certain moments of the movie, but.. most horror movies contents are far away from reality, so why shouldn't characters behaviour be some times ?...

Watch the movie. It's good. Honestly.

I can't say that "Filantropica" is the best romanian film ever made. It may be the best of it's kind, but there are many romanian movies of different genres I saw and I recommend you to watch. To return to this movie... I have to say is very well done entirely, with an excellent script and a very good acting. On the other hand I have to contradict other users that wrote here about it's genre. It isn't a comedy at all. It's a DRAMA. A drama of the common romanian people in Romania's transition period after the revolution in '89. I admit it's a drama with comic accents, but not a comedy under any circumstances. So you should modify this movie's genre in DRAMA/comedy. Anyway it's a sinuous movie with expected and unexpected events reflectind almost in entirely the reality of those years.

I really recommend it 100% !

In cases like this I really can't understand some people.

1. The man that never seen some movies, but he absolutely has to vote for those movies. And, of course, his vote has to be like most of those who have already voted (more than 50% of those did the same thing like he's about to do). Anyway, it's compliant for this reactions to be a specific feature for humans... we're descending from apes...

2. The man that watches movie genre he doesn't like and naturally his vote will be a negative one (he has to vote, he can't abstain... most people do, why shouldn't him... ape descending...). This probably reflects the "maso" dose at some people... watching movie genres they really hate.

For those that really want to see a pretty good SF movie, I recommend this one. Good actors, good acting, good directing, good effects, good story, pretty good wardrobe, nice scenery.

For the others... try to abstain. The comments over here are to inform people about the movies, your comments are exaggerated and because of this... useless.

If you like SF movies, trust me, you won't regret the time spent in front of your TV while watching this movie. Go see it !

I saw this movie about one year ago. My first thought appeared before playing the movie and it was that the movie it's gonna be a bad remake, non-comparable to the original. My second thought appeared after a short time from the beginning and it was that the movie is kind of boring, so I thought I was right... it's a bad remake... But I told my self "What the hell, I started watching, let's see it till it ends !" So I continued watching it. ...What can I say... my final thought appeared after the movie ended and it was that I was right about something... it wasn't comparable with the original. It was much, much better.

I like Carpenter's movies, especially because most of them are kind of bizarre. "Assault On Precinct 13" was one of them, somehow. I liked it a lot.

I won't talk about the difference of effects between the movies, because it isn't fair. Since 1976 till 2005 many things changed. The difference between those two movies that I want to point is that the new one had a very logical and a very well written scenario. It wasn't kind of chaotic like the old one was.

The cast of characters was made with good and well known actors and it was completed by Ethan Hawke and Laurence Fishburne which proved once again that they really ARE actors.

I'm disappointed that the new one is not better seen in statistics than the old one. My opinion is that it's much better than the old one.

So, I advice anyone who reads this post... Watch the 2005's "Assault on Precinct 13". It worths all the money !

I carefully checked if there's another movie named as this one, and there isn't ! But I really don't think we all saw the same movie ! There's no way ! How can you vote more than "1" for this movie ?! The idea of this movie let's say it's acceptable. Oh, and the acting of Dan Gordon (Chris) is quite good. But those are the only two things acceptable in this project. The others are... awful ? It's a very delicate word to describe the acting of the other actors, the directing, the (so said) "special" effects, even the way that the crew was filming ! I don't even like the way that the camera operators were moving to record the scenes ! This may be the most miserable film I've ever seen. I really don't remember a movie lower than this one... Maybe there is, but... I don't think so... Ehh, what's done, it's done... That's the movie and there's too late for anyone to change anything. I've voted "1", but my realistic vote starts with a "-" (minus) in front....
