Best Marvel movie since Endgame (2019)
2 September 2023
I keep this short, I haven't written any comment for long time (you can check), so I write this because I feel I must.

Marvel movies are so bad now, but this is incredibly funny (but not for dumba**es), its entertaining throughout, it's sweet and engaging, in fact it's only problem is that there is too much happening at once and you may not be able to follow.

It's the Marvel movie you expected 10 years ago, always something new, new action, new story, something that surprises you, here you go.

"No. Sleep. Till Brooklyn!!" Great movie

P. S. (Its underrated because of the lovely Russian dog lol)

Louis C.K.: Sorry (2021 TV Special)

Funniest guy alive is back
26 December 2021
First, I wanna say this: I'm glad that Weinstein is in jail, but you can't compare him with a nice guy like Louis. Artists, and I mean great artists, always have been kinda eccentric. For instance Picasso said "For me there are only two kinds of women: goddesses and doormats." and people still buy his pictures for multimillion of dollars. You can judge the art of an artist, but you can't judge his private life, coz it is called "private" for a reason, and in this case I judge the media, I just can't trust the media anymore.

That being said, I only watched 4 minutes into the show and felt compelled to write this review coz I haven't laughed so hard in ages.

And for the guy comparing Brit with US humour: he is right, it's often stupid and neither I think Seinfeld to be funny. British humour was always the best until Louis CK came.

(9/10 rating, coz as I said, I just watched 4 min, so can't give a 10/10)

edit: after watching the whole show, I must give it a 10/10 The guys complaining about, that it is weak: this is the most non political correct show, I ve ever seen, it's insulting the half of our population and every1 that still believes in 9-11 and covid; the low ratings r just becoz this show tells the truth, it's philosophical.

I'm a guy and I'm not into romance movies
2 September 2021
(unless they are really good, like Roman Holiday). So at the first 10min of this movie I was like "Uugh" another BS teenie romance; also I didn't like the 2 protagonists.

But then I kept watching and the film changed my mind. Simply because the story is good. It's basically a romance, but with many subplots and each of them is interesting and woven into the love story, so that the success of each little story depends on the main plot. That is so obvious that it's kind of a new take.

The movie certainly is aimed at younger audiences, so if you are a girl or into romance or just wanna relax or maybe watch a movie where you can turn off your brain for a while (I'm not saying it's a stupid movie), then give it a shot, for that I would recommend it.

(The real rating would be 7/10, but since the movie is underrated and quite entertaining I gave it a 8.)

I'm not sure why critics hate this one
19 February 2021
This is a light black slapstick comedy, which runs low-key, nothing spectacular, but is never boring. The humour and the film is driven by its entangled plot, for once it doesn't comprise laugh-out-loud, gross (there is some violence) or forced jokes, no, it's the satiric story that is fun and entertaining.

Since lots of people are involved, I give you some story infos for an easier watch (which won't spoil anything):

Her (A.Janney) husband Karl (M. Modine), a banker, was involved in money laundering and now ows money to the bad guys. Her brother Pete (J. Simpson) seemed to do some robbery and is also involved with the bad guys coincidentally. Her sister (Mila Kunis) works for a small TV station.

After lots and lots of bad comedies this was a surprise; maybe it's a bit harsh with American lifestyle, thats why they hated it(?)

Most unscrupulous try to cash in with a movie in history.
17 February 2021
You know what an a*** is (can't write it out, it's an insult)? An a*** is someone who takes advantage of his environment or other people for his own purpose. A real a*** screenwriter would take the idea of the best comedy ever and just copy it for the lack of creativity, own ideas, visions or any other capabilities (a***es lack these). And then change a tiny detail and say: 'Look, it's a different movie!'

That's exactly what happened here; don't believe anyone who tells you, that is not Groundhog Day, coz it is just that but the Michel-Bay-version of it. The only thing changed is the solution of coming out of the circle, which makes no sense, has no meaning, is pseudo-math-BS and makes this copy even worse.

Everything in this movie is phony, false, has been made better somewhere else; it has no charm, no soul, even the protagonists have this teflon-plastic aura.

Who may like this movie: tasteless pricks, school bullies, or kids who have no clue that Groundhog Day even exists. Watching this tripe they will be traumatized and may never watch the Original or excellent versions of the material like Edge of Tomorrow or Palm Springs (these managed to make sth new of it).

Don't believe the good reviews, this is either family or guys with agenda.

Finally I must admit, it may have some entertainment value for teenagers, but even that is mediocre fun.

Honest Thief (2020)

Entertaining flick of a kind that get rare these times
24 December 2020
If I think back the last 10 years, Liam Neeson movies never disappointed me, which also is true to this one.

Critics said, there is less action and more of the usual stuff, and in a kind of way that is right, there is less action than in the usual Liam movies (but the action there is, is excellent), but this one is more story-ridden; so this is a movie for action fans that have a bit matured like Liam, and the story is quite good and makes up for less action.

So this movie may be not so special, but one of the 1st ones in corona times that is really entertaining, you might say a popcorn movie we had in the old days and not anymore, and it is totally underrated. Enjoy!

(Rating should be 7 -7.5, so I gave it 8)

Smart show for smart people
29 September 2020
I review this, because this is an outstanding series and the rating now is way too low, too many reviewers here didn't get it.

First, production values are top notch, from acting to direction to budget-wise, (exec. producers are J.J. Abrams and Stephen King); what "Fargo" is for humorous crime drama, this is for mystery-horror.

Who this is not for: for kiddies, for people that expect run-of-the-mill entertainment to shut down your braincells, for hardcore horror fans that like splatter, gore and lots of dumb jumpscares

Who this is for: if you like a good mystery like "The Leftovers", good creepy, slow building quality horror, if you like high standards and are not afraid to watch Westworld (but don't worry, this is less complicated lol)

Admittedly it starts a bit slow and - like in Westworld - you must pay some attention, but it builds up steadily and you will be rewarded.

I'm watching now season 2, which looks at least as good or even better than S01;

okay, I finished with season 2, and this one shifts the whole feeling of the show, but not to the worse; actually its getting better coz now the story is more coherent, and there is great Lizzy Caplan; it's less mystery now and more comprehensible (except the last ep. will make you think) and lots of S01 is explained. Fascinating show.

Nathan McCall (WP journalist): "Ultimately, Michael Jordan may be forgotten"
10 September 2020
He said that when MJ didn't support a black politician (shown in Ep.5). Guess no one will know of a Nathan McCall when MJ will still be remembered in 100 years ... imagine a world without journalists!

One of the best documentaries I ve ever seen.

7/10 for being funny and sweet
3 September 2020
This is def not a critics movie, its not demanding, it has no intellectual message, but it's fun! It's a family film, kids will like it, but there are a lots of good jokes for grown-ups too, so its a perfect family movie, this is light entertainment for having a good time and you can get drunk and watch it. lol And it's kind of old school, reminded me of "Home Alone" and "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" but with a new vibe.

Actually a perfect movie to relax, that won't bore you.

6/10 for alltogether not a bad movie and some entertaining factor
27 May 2020
This movie left me with some lukewarm feelings, so best I tell you what I liked and what not:

minus: the main protagonist Zach Avery - the whole story depends on him and he just can't pull it off, he is not interesting enough, e.g. with Leo di Caprio this would 've been a totally different thing, which brings me to the love scenes:

minus: love scenes - boring and I hate them anyway, which brings me to:

plus: Samara Weaving, she looks better than ever and you even can glimpse some nakedness (if ur interested)

the plot: not bad, but neither original, everyth was seen before, old school Hitchcockian, witch brings me to:

entertainment: the movie gets better the longer it takes, so the speed takes up a bit after half an hour; if u made it that far you should have a good time then

minus: the love story - it develops not very realistic and is mostly used as a plot device, which brings me to:

minus: the ending, I just didn't like it and brings me to the overall rating of 5.5 - 6

I review this movie, coz there was no info anywhere about it
14 January 2020
(maybe for showing the opposite rich-poor, which is not Hollywood PC, I dunno)

which made me think, it must be really bad - but I was wrong.

First the movie deserves really a 6.3 - 6.6, but a 7+ for family/light entertainment, feel-good and overall being very watchable, not demanding. It is nice, sweet, funny in a subtle way, which can't be said of so many movies nowadays. It's in the tradition of buddy movies with 2 very different characters, like 'The Green Book' or 'The Intouchables' (but certainly hasn't the originality or production values).

Andy Garcia seems not feel like playing anymore gangsters or bad guys, while the girl from 'His Dark Materials' almost steals the show, she may have quite a career ahead.

This film is not special, no superheroes, action or tricks here, but it has its own charm and I liked it.

The Hustle (I) (2019)

Really funny movie
10 August 2019
This is my 1st review, coz I found the ratings for this little gem r really off; first the rating overall should be 6.5, I gave it 8 to contradict all these ridicoulous 1star ratings (who rates a movie just 1*, think about it);

the entertainment factor is 8+, i mean, its really funny, and I don't like just dumb humour, (I like eg. Monty Python, Louis CK., Kristen Wiig etc.)

it is clearly not a demanding movie, its light entertainment, to relax, to drink a beer to, but it is never boring

so I ask myself, why all these negative critics? political agenda, coz she says, she has all her money in Bitcoins? guys don't like fat actresses? critics all compare the movie to the sources, coz it is a 2 time remake? critics (especially the 1* reviewers here) have no humour?

seriously, I dunno, why this movie is rated so bad, this is kind of a movie for smart people that want to have some relaxing, good entertainment;

forget the critics: Hathaway and Rebel Wilson don't play in bad movies, and btw is was a big box office success
