Hogan's Heroes: Kommandant Schultz (1970)
Season 6, Episode 7
A very poor episode
8 March 2024
This was the sixth and final series of Hogans Heroes. At this stage all the characters were showing their ages, and some of them, especially Schultz (John Banner) looked really old and tired. This really did show in this episode. It was not only the actors who were tired so to were the writers. This episode showed just how much they had ran out of ideas for scripts. With some aspects of this script having been seen in other episodes. To put bluntly this episode was just flat out stupid.and had very few laughs. Which made it not very interesting or exciting to watch.

This episode had Schultz playing Kommandant of Stalag 13. This follows an order from Adolf Hitler for senior NCOs to experience being a leader. Without giving too much away we see how, Klink, Hogan and his gang of old POWs deal with Schultz as Kommandsnt.

Give this episode a miss you won't miss much.

World's Most Dangerous Roads: Albania (2023)
Season 4, Episode 1
A travel show. Not a dangerous road show.
14 January 2024
Not as good as the first three seasons. This episode came across more as a travel show than a real dangerous road challenge. Albania looks to be a very beautiful and safe country to visit, and maybe should not live up to the reputation that it has been given. I found the two drivers extremely irritating, especially the guy who continually said he didn't want to do any of the driving. The idea of the show is for the two to share the driving. You will have to watch the episode to see if he did any of the driving.

They stopped making the show some years ago after three seasons. After watching episode one of season four maybe they should have left it there.

Hogan's Heroes: The Scientist (1965)
Season 1, Episode 12
The stupidest of episodes
27 August 2023
May well go down in Hogans Heroes history as the most stupidest episode made. The premise of the story was sound with a French scientist forced to work for the Germans. Unfortunately once we get past that point, the episode quickly deteriorates to levels I didn't ever expect from this show. Hogans performance as a German general was so over the top it was not even laughable. Through out this show the Germans were made to silly, but that's what this show was about. But this episode took it many steps further then that. How anyone could fall for the act Hogan put on is just unfashionable.

A really poor episode.

A very poor movie
19 July 2023
A very poor movie by any stretch of anyones imagination. Not even a top notch performance from Barry Sullivan could save this dreary western. Hard to believe this movies only went for 87 minutes. It really felt for like a 2 hour movie. The problem with the movie really does lay with Audie Murphy's character Seven Jones. Maybe it was Murphy's performance as Jones or could have been the character himself but it was just a boring performance. Jones character just didn't develop from being nothing at the beginning to being nothing at the end.

The movie had the typical western Indian attack which added nothing at all to the movies. But hey you can't have an Audie Murphy movie without Indians.

A young and attractive Venetia Stevenson is the the romantic interest for Murphy, but outside of that there is nothing to her character.

Watch this movie if you wish, but be warned its not very good and I doubt you will watch it a second time.

I don't mind Audie Murphy movies, but this one proved something I have always thought in that he cannot act.

Hawaii Five-O: Samurai (1968)
Season 1, Episode 4
Just who is Ricardo Montalban playing?
25 March 2023
For as good as a character actor Montalban is he just can't convince me he can play a Japanese. It wasn't the first time nor the last time H50 used actors to play a nationality that they were not. Outside of that there is very little to complain about in this episode. Tokura (Montalban) is supposedly a Japanese/American who lives in Hawaii. It seems as though the Bushido from Japan are out to get him. The question is why? Is there more to Tokura then meets the eye? If you haven't already seen the episode I will leave you to watch the episode to answer those two questions. Though in saying that the questions are answered very quickly. So there is little suspense. Actually there is no suspense. But suspense and H50 never went together.

The episode has an interesting ending. I do wonder how the process would hold up in court?

Hawaii Five-O: Tiger by the Tail (1968)
Season 1, Episode 3
See what happens when you get greedy
25 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Sal Mineo was once an up and coming movie star, but his career in films went no where. It was television where he made his name before his death at a young age. Here he plays singer Bobby George who just could not get the right breaks in the music business. Sounds a lot like Mineo with his movie career. George fakes a kidnapping of himself believing that associated publicity will uplift his music career. Of course everything goes wrong especially when one of his cohorts Jerry Parks gets greedy and wants to get more money out of George's hotel tycoon father. Parks is played by veteran TV star Sam Melville who went on a few years later to play one of the cops in the show the Rookies. Parks was the better character in this episode, but needed a stronger actor to play the role. One of my favourite character actors , Harold Stone appeared in this episode as George's rich father. Even though his role was minor he doesn't let viewers down. Of course, as with just about every episode of this show it is Steve McGarrett who dominates just about everything that happens. From being a cop solving the case to being a family councillor in bringing together George and his father.

A good fast paced episode.

Many similarities with The Spy Who Loved Me
20 October 2022
What struck me most about You Only Live Twice is the many similarities it had with The Spy Who Loved Me. But given that the later movie come ten years after, maybe it's the one that had the similarities.

Let me get back to this movie. Here it is fifty five years after its release and it's the first time I have seen it. And, to be honest it will be the last. It may well be the most boring Bond movie I have seen. Connery slept walked his way through the movie. He just showed no interest and neither did anyone else. So excitement is lacking. For mine the most interesting character in the movie was the cat. Which tells you a lot about the quality of the movie. Loved the song which was performed by Nancy Sinatra, and of course the Bond theme is always a highlight.

As I previously said there is many similarities between this movie and The Spy Who Loves Me. My suggestion is that you would be much better off watching Rogers Moore's movie then this.
