Warning: Spoilers
I say now that I intend to watch this film, but time will tell. I'm 8 minutes in and already ticked: you hear a sound, in the middle of the night, and continue standing there instead of going inside. You hear your daughter screaming, so you go outside, then back in when you don't find her, and lock the door. You refuse to turn on a frkn light, then you grab a gun you obviously don't know how to use. You attempt to put obviously wrong sized bullets into an open handle of an automatic pistol, then proceed to fire several rounds from a gun with NO magazine in it! Oh come on, did anyone with Any common sense review this movie before release? Ugh, let's see how rest of film plays out, but from other reviews, I think I'll be wasting my time...

Far FAR worse films than this. But its Fault ridden for sure.
Jester22222 May 2020
Yes the films titles. Silly. Those reviewers marking this a 1 and saying its 'worst film ever' are quite frankly sad. Theres NO WAY this is even close to being the worst film ever made. Cons. Yes it has faults, the name, the overly long scenes of nothing before the kills, those idiotic fake American accents when the film is CLEARLY set in UK!?? Ha ha. Why? Help sell jn America ?? Creature attracted to sound......so women scream constantly. !?? Using Predator sounds for creature was also amusing. Sons back story was pointless. Some hit and miss acting at times. Pros. But it is well put together, a good standard, acting is bearable for the most part (accents aside), there are a couple of decent make up FX on the kills, the creatures mask is good (although the hands look rubber and silly). Music good, editing good. So it's far from the many films out there that look like have been shot by inadequate media students having fun at the weekend.

For a derivative monster film riffing off the fantastic 'A Quiet Place' and clearly on a small budget it works ok. Well done to all involved. Good effort. Onwards and upwards.

Warning: Spoilers
It should have been called 'Don't Watch'

I read the reviews and still watched this anyway. I don't even know where to start with reasons to not watch it.

1. It's clearly set in the UK, with British people who all have fake American accents. The accents keep changing back and forth from faux American to British every 30 seconds and it really takes you out of it. But they make it seem like it's America. Why? Why can't they just be British? 2. The acting is deplorable, like, probably the worst I've ever seen. I can't believe a word of what these people say. 3. It's clearly a rip of the Quiet Place which was both gripping and well written with good actors, plot, special effects and suspense. 4. The storyline is weak, these people make awful decisions, and I'm writing this review while the movie is actually still playing because I don't even know if I'll make it to the end. 5. The special effects are awful. It's like someone just splashed red paint on everyone and that was it. The monster is a person in latex who spits out milk and runs on all fours.

Do. Not. Watch. This. Film.

This film was a complete mess, from start to finish. The acting was incompetent and the plot was ridiculous.

Don't bother with this feeble attempt at a horror film! You're are just punishing yourself if you do!

horrible
jstagzsr18 March 2020
I created an account just to leave this review. HORRIBLE movie.. I can deal with a bad movie if it has some good parts to it.. bad acting but good special effects? sure, ill deal with it.. great acting but horrible everything else? sure, ill watch it.. But what good part does this movie have? not a single thing.. TERRIBLE acting. TERRIBLE special effects, TERRIBLE costumes, Terrible EVERYTHING!!!!!!! even something as simple as them making a flickering light due to power loss they screwed up.. on the screnes where theres a flickering light, it looks like someone is flicking a light switch on and off at an even pace.. for a half hour straight.. A dying light doesnt look like a strobe light!!!!!!!!! The monsters were just people in costumes made out of rubber.. the elongated fingers were rubber and floppy when they moved.. These monsters that supposedly hunt their prey by sounds dont react when theres someone 2 feet from it breathing loud and making noise?

I turned this on because i thought it was the part 2 of "A Quiet Place".. This was an hour long waste of my time.

I rate this ZERO stars

Literally, NOT exaggerating, Worst movie i have ever seen in my life.

Reviews on this site are so exaggerated
whlwtcher17 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
One of the things I loved about this site is that I could come there and get really good reviews on movies. Seems now all we get are reviews from people who can't sit for more than 2 minutes or have poor comprehension skills and need to have things spelled out for them. This movie is NOT that bad. Silent Place (or titled: Don't Speak when I saw it on T*bi) is pretty much in the same vein as Quiet Place: Creatures that hunt via sound. Movie opens with a family that goes to check on her parents, finds the unnamed small village empty, crawling with creatures that hunt via sound. We aren't given an explanation on what they are although later in the film, Mom and Dad speculate on what they are, where they came from. Family spends the rest of the movie fighting for their lives, fending off the monsters while trying to stay alive. Production value wasn't too bad, the monsters looked like if Alien had a human body. The characters were a little frustrating in that even though they figure out the monsters are attracted by sound they wouldn't stop screaming. Frustration aside, the gore factor was pretty good. Is this Shakespeare? No. Its a halfway decent movie to watch on a lazy saturday afternoon in quarantine that has good gore.

DONT WATCH IT
zecheriahmendoza8 August 2020
Full of slow moving annoying characters that all should have been killed when they arrived at grandma's. Waste of time, fast forwarded to the end just to see what happened and still lame. Z grade acting if you can call it that.

Best Movie They Have Shown At Our Prison In Years
chipsdipsanddorks30 April 2022
Usually on my cell block they pick stupid movies, but this was really scary and kept me up all night with my cell mate. It reminded me of 40 years ago when they they showed Amityville Horror on our cell block and I was up all night. Acting was better than most of my cell block brothers when they do plays in the cafeteria area. Luckily my cell mate was able to hold me when I would have nightmares about this film.

A solid and watchable if not mandatory watch
kannibalcorpsegrinder18 August 2020
Heading out on a road-trip, a dysfunctional family looking into a potential sign of distress from their parents, but when they find the house empty and no one around they decide to stay and investigate where they discover a race of humanoid mutations has escaped and killed everyone forcing them to fight them off.

This one was somewhat better than expected and had a lot to like about it. One of the finer features here is the atmospheric work featured here which manages to make this quite more suspenseful than it should be. With the majority of the action taking place at the remote house in the middle of the night, there are some genuinely atmospheric and chilling shots of the fog rolling through the landscape towards them while various animal growls and stalking are heard in the distance which goes nicely with the setting of the abandoned houses and missing individuals. As hardly anyone is aware of what's going on and the resulting unaware nature of the creatures or what they are, it only adds to the whole setting of the film in general. This fine setup-work goes nicely with the films' enjoyable amount of creature action present. The opening attack on the people in the house serves to get it going nicely with some creepy stalking and a brief glimpse of the creatures, while the later discovery of the creature up in the attic as it rests unaware of the girl until it chases her through the house and outside leading to several other min-encounters along the way is the best sequence in the effort. The final half, which introduces a contagion subplot that spreads to its victims reveals some great carnage in the body-melting scenes to go alongside the creature attacks which are surprisingly brutal and gory, has a lot to like about it. As well as the stellar look of the deformed creatures, these are what hold the film up as the film does have some minor issues about it. The main thing holding it back is the lagging pacing which tends to undo a lot of the atmosphere at play here with the film taking a bit too long to get to the good parts. The investigation here is the biggest factor, as the scenes of them wandering through the house, visiting the neighbors or going into the abandoned town serve to build up the mystery and atmosphere nicely yet are played out in such lethargic tempos that it's likely to leave viewers bored at the situation rather than creeped out. As well, there's also a rather curious feature where they manage to figure out the creature's backstory through urban legend rather than believable means and it strains credulity to have operated in that fashion, leaving this one with its main flaws.

Rated Unrated/R: Graphic Violence and Graphic Language.

Derivative Sludge
viceregentweasel20 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Ever wanted to see a combination of Phantoms (an underrated bit of horror fun) and the smash hit Stranger Things, but without any of the ideas or characters that made either of them memorable? Remember the fun of seeing smart, interesting characters take logical actions? You won't find any of that here. These are whiny, screechy idiots whose brightest move is to hide in a barrel of water. Most are badly wounded through the film... and not once, not once does a single one of them attempt to provide any form of assistance to their loved ones. If my sister is bleeding out in front of me, I'm going to try to stop the bleeding, you idiots, not stand there whimpering and then offer to get her a glass of water. On the other hand, if anyone knew what a bandage was, we wouldn't see the decent gore effects that are the closest thing to a highlight in this movie, so... fair enough? The monsters are useless. Are they driven by sound? The title suggests so, as does their Pumpkinhead-meets-the-abortion-xenomorph-from-Alien:Resurrection look, but it's massively inconsistent. The monster loses track of someone literally screaming at it from a foot away because someone a floor away yelled at it. That person then stops talking and the monster, while a couple inches away, appears to again lose track of them. So they can't hear breathing or heartbeats, their method of attack is a pitiful wobbling flail at the victim's chest that I last saw used in the fourth-wall breaking scene of Blazing Saddles... Why am I supposed to be scared of these pieces of crap? The instant the military arrives at the end the thing is apparently turned into Swiss cheese off-screen, so it wasn't bulletproof or particularly resilient. It's not especially fast, or sneaky, as mentioned is dumb as a post, and I'm 80% sure I could take one out by holding a metal pole and yelling HEY STUPID. I am honestly baffled as to how it managed to wipe out an entire town and suspect that this was actually a mass suicide after the locals saw the script.

Had potential...
Clearbay_32714 March 2020
But was brought down by long drawn out sequences leading up to any excitement. Also it just didn't make much sense through large parts of the film. You do have to give it up for the amount of gore though. I mean this is a bloody disgusting movie, and mean that in a good way. Overall it's worth a watch if you are really bored and have a craving to see something on the gorey side. Just don't expect too much. It is not a great movie.

Everybody scream!
destinieruth22 August 2020
This was acted like a high school play... maybe worse. Everyone is British but trying to speak with an American accent. With zero reason, the dad decides the creatures hunt by sound and then within 5 minutes everyone is screaming. Also, everyone breathes SO LOUDLY... close your damn mouths! This movie is *upsetting*.

What's with the bad reviews?
ReliableReview1 January 2021
What's with all the 1s. This movie is not that bad. Okay so it's a low budget knock off of a quiet place but it's still watchable and adds a nice twist. It's not that bad and sure the CGI can't compare. The monsters are mostly guys in costumes but that's old school monster movies and it still works. Shape of Water is just a guy in a costume and that won Best Picture! Overall it's still watchable.

I Guess Will All Agreed
Mehki_Girl29 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I'm giving this one a higher rating than other people did. It has lots of gore, lots of blood flowing everywhere. And the monster isn't that bad.

For some bizarre reason they have English people trying to pretend that they're American so the accents are really really iffy.

Everybody's talking about the bad acting and everything and I thought they acted scared really well. But there are some very annoying things about this movie.

For example you're outside in the dark you hear something creepy and instead of going back inside the house you just keep standing there until something comes and kills you.

You have a gun that you don't know how to use. I guess they put a gun in this because it's supposed to be in America and all Americans have guns.

But here's the main annoyance: Dad figures out pretty quickly. The monster functions on sound. So, what does everybody do? Everybody make sounds. They breathe loud. They scream. They yell. They talk loud.

And everyone keeps going back trying to say grandma Grandma's old as the hills. She's all wrapped up in some kind of weird cocoon She's dead already leave her a$$ get out of town.

I want them all dead at this point.

It's quarantine it's raining it's Saturday. I'm going to finish this but it really sucks.

... "Don't pip", "Don't squeak", "Don't blab", "Don't tralala" and other forthcoming titles as sequels and copies to this one and others ("The Quiet place" - which is no better) in the long-standing tradition of irrationally-developed rural monster infestation movies.
