Shortly after visiting an old friend in a retirement home, Miss Marple and the wife of an MI6 agent spring into action when the friend dies suddenly and another eccentric resident seems to have been abducted from the home. An old painting, strangely altered, is their guide in the quest for answers.

When Clive Trevelyan - Member of Parliament, war hero and heir apparent to Prime Minister Winston Churchill - is killed, Miss Marple sets about to solve the case. Trevelyan has made his fortune many years before in Egypt having secretly uncovered a lost tomb. He is killed during a major snowstorm when there are no police available. There are several possible suspects including Trevelyan's ward, James Pearson and his fiancée Emily Trefusis; his political agent, John Enderby; a journalist Charles Burnaby; a visiting American Martin Zimmerman; and several other apparently disinterested parties. A convict has also escaped from Dartmoor prison. Miss Marple concludes that Trevalyan's murder is related to his days in Egypt and sets about to identify the murderer.

Lewis and Hathaway are called to solve what happened to religious zealot Steven Mullan after he is found burned and drowned in his bath. Mullan had been jailed for attempting to kill star atheist Tom Rattenbury, and had only recently been let go. There is no plot, this is a travelogue/description of the actual Orient Express trains and trips and services/decorations/passenger treatment and comfort meant to guide viewers to an understanding of the train and it's handling of passengers. David Suchet is filmed on the train as our host and conductor.
