Exceptional musical documentary
Crazor21 April 2006
The origins of the Southern Rock revolution are examined by including vintage live performance clips by pioneering southern rock bands, live interviews with many performers and many interesting facts about the people, the music and it's impact on American music and culture both yesterday and today. The untimely death of Duane Allman, his contribution to that new musical style and the musical freedom it represented to other artists at the time are closely examined. Despite the refusal of major record labels to recognize this musical style, the determination of it's artists and supporters to bring this new sound to the people testify to the inevitable role it had to play in the world of music and politics both then and now. Additionally the long term success of the many groups that contributed to it's popularity are well covered. This is a must see documentary for rock and country music lovers anywhere.
