Aaron finally is not 3 scene character
oleksytomek12 September 2021
I love this episode and also season 11. Maybe even the best since season 5. But if Rick be in this situation this would be gorgeous.

Keep S11 GOING!
dannylee-7808224 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Thoughts I had while watching - 1. Negan being the reason of voice is so nice. While Maggie is not entirely delusional, she does seem sometimes a little too far-fetched.

1-1. Screw the romance theory between Negan and Maggie. That would just never happen.

2. Commonwealth - wonder what kind of role Yumiko is going to play within the community. She obviously was chosen for her skills.

2-1. What's with the distortion in commonwealth commercial? What would it imply? Perhaps it doesn't mean anything.

3. Judith 3-1. It's nice to see the team put more effort into developing Judith since she's such a fantastic character and actor.

3-2. Even though it's the same old theme it's actually nice to see new characters provided that they are well developed and portrayed because we get to observe how different people process grief and loss differently.

4. Trying to reach the radio was not a great plan - pretty stupid considering the level of security at that place.

Best episode of the season so far.

Warning: Spoilers
Wow guys, this was incredible. This was a roller-coaster of emotions! It makes you cry and happy at the same time. I'm amazed by how incredible this episode was. Commonwealth introduction was crazy and the whisperers comeback too. We also learned that Connie is alive and the trailer of the next episode left me even more excited. This season have been great and I'm so glad they're doing this right. Loved it. Also, Ross acting is incredibly good in this episode. 9.6/10.

It may not have been the best episode if the season but I still really enjoyed it. I can't believe how good judiths acting is, so impressed. The commonwealth story may be slow but i still think it's very exciting and I can't wait to see what happens next.

8/10.

One of the craziest introductions!

Warning: Spoilers
It was so cool to see the commonwealth and how civilized they are. I feel like season 5 rick would've killed someone in that community by now (if he was there) because everyone there is so soft. I will say Yumiko's Brother reunion was a bit underwhelming but still neat to say. But Eugene is more of a badass than her Brother Tomi, because he's been sheltered since the beginning.

The true test for TWD level of content...
rsvp32112 September 2021
If this season was actually Season One of TWD, there is *no way* that there would have been a Season Two!

So boring, so predictable, I see no entertainment value in TWD, anymore.

Bailing, three seasons too late.

The best episode of the season for now
christopherhq12 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
After losing interest in the reapers group, the Commonwealth is here to keep me watching it. The commonwealth's arc is the most interesting in this season. I love Eugene and princess, Yumiko is really interesting and seeing her with her brother is touching. Mercer is badass, he can walks that i would say that he's badass. We're getting more in the Commonwealth system with politics, justice and i want to know what'll happen.

In Alexandria's side, it's good. It's better to see how Alexandria has a hard life than the reapers's arc with the horrible episode 4. Aaron is finally getting timescreen, thank god ! I like how the whispers are not totally eradicated. I want to hug Judith, she's adorable and everything that's happening to her is tough (michonne gone, rick gone, alexandria almost gone). The kids that insulted her are probably from oceanside to not know Judith Grimes.

Negan-Maggie i don't give a damn. It's not interesting. There're too much useless talking. I mean, Negan killed Glenn but you can't deny what he's saying. Waiting here while Alexandria is starving without sending anyone. And even at the end to say "see maggie is right for waiting Gabriel and Elijah" they're gonna stand there for many days because Daryl and Frost are not gonna come soon. The scenarists are forcing into the conflict.

Cailey Fleming is a gem to behold
JonathanJFilms12 September 2021
Cailey Fleming (Judith Grimes) might be one of the best child actors currently working, I dare even say on the same level as Jacob Trembley. There is a reason she was cast as both young Rey for Star Wars and young Sylvie in Marvel's Loki.

This season is a massive boost in quality after a couple of rough seasons plagued by poor writing and inconsistent pacing. I pity those who gave up on the show prior to season 11. Also, the cinematography this season is on a whole other level than the previous, every episode feels like a movie. Im holding my fingers crossed every new episode that the quality stays the same and that the stories unfold in a natural way for the characters and the world they live in.

Best episode of season so far. Still don't feel it's last season.
lesiatereschenko14 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
First of all, finally something interesting happens and story moves forward in some aspects.

This season is dissapointing in it's slow pace and tiptoeing around nothing but this episode was good.

Most appealing parts in my opinion are Commonwealth shady story and dillema Aaron&Carol&co have at Hilltop.

I appreciate all of the funny scenes with Eugene, Princess and ice-cream. Princess and Mercer gonna be adorable couple.

Princess is just best additional to show Yumiko and her brother didn't impress me. Boring characters and i don't care about their relationship.

Eugene seeing woman who looks like Rosita and thinking about her and community is such heartwarming thing but also mark of how far character developed from his coward and irresponsible previous presonality.

Judith's stand against teenager felt forced and cringe kinda but following scene with heartbroken Judith and Rosita were worth it. We need to have more such moments resembling around characters that not present anymore but affected Judith's life.

It was interesting to see characters inner and outter verbal battle towards whisperer fate at Hilltop.

Although i understand motivations of all characters im glad to see Lydia and Carol healing from their traumas and choose not to go dark path and trying to save Aaron (and Jerry) from it.

What i wished for is to have more Carol and more Lydia. I seriously miss their characters on my screen.

Least favorite for me were unnecessary Negan/Maggie scenes which only show tension between them without adding anything else but these couple precios minutes of screentime were taken away from characters like Aaron, Rosita, Carol or Princess.

JDM is awesome and LC is good too but this Negan/Maggie thing became unbearable to watch how badly it rinsed and repeated.

Best Ep So Far, Eventhough It Had Little Action
tomiscool1234512 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I love big budget action. Huge herds of walkers, fight sequences & intense battle music. This episode didn't really have that, but I still adored it. It was very character centric, but it was done in a way that felt so natural & progressed the story. The Judith/Rosita scene made me cry, the Commonwealth arc looks fantastic & the whisperer revealing Connie's whereabouts was so exciting. Another solid ep!

Solid episode with more character development by Aaron
Shadowboy_25cm24 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
In this episode it seems that Aaron and his struggles and emoptional issues are the main story ark with his group leaving Alexandria to Hilltop for ressources and find out that Hilltop is left, nearly destroyed, has some Walkers and some surprises.

The Commonwealth get more details and shows for some might be paradise is for others a prison.

Eugene and Stefanie get their screen time.

Yomiko finds her lost brother.

Maggie and Negan get also more screen time to develop their relationship and to get some things settled.

Decent episode with some character development.

is it just me?... apparently its just me..
rexcatston14 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I've been a fan of the show since the beginning and it has always been good, and this season (and episode) are ...ok... but im sorry, nothing is happening in this season.

5 episodes in and you can literally write out the entirety of the plots in about 2 sentences.

3 characters were being interviewed, now they passed and made a radio call --- 5 episodes.

The rest of the characters? Well some built a wall, got some horses and now getting blacksmithing tools and the others are about 1/2 way into retaking food....5 episodes.

This is about 4 hours of television here and it legitimately feels like like 30 minutes of progression.

Its like they're padding the show with character development (of people who've been on the show for 10 seasons already..) because they've got to spread 8 episodes of story over an entire season.

Getting bored now.

horrible snooze fest
MNR87BPF15 September 2021
I really only see a bunch of actors not being unemployed. This is so bad, It is putting itself down. Negan should just finish Megan and find his bat again. This series shouldn't try to be morally correct. At least not all the time. And that doesn't mean torturing someone to get information. Ever since the start of season 7 and then after Rick has gone, it just took a very bad fall.. and it was already on it's knees. How can anyone behind that possibly be happy about this mess. And the fake 10 ratings. That's unbelievable. Honestly, anything over a 6 rating is completely nonsensical. I watched the episode within 5 minutes by pushing the right arrow. Some might think I can't have an opinion if I do that, but believe me, I can. It's the worst series in the world now. Congratulations.

One of the most compelling aspects of "Out of the Ashes" is its exploration of leadership and community building
fernandoschiavi4 April 2024
Carol, Aaron, Jerry, and Lydia go to the ruins of the Hilltop Colony to look for supplies where they discover a small group of Whisperers still alive. Demanding information, Aaron tortures the leader, who insists that they're no longer a threat, but Carol stops Aaron before he does something he might regret. In exchange for his life being spared, the Whisperer informs the group about Connie's whereabouts; they decide to leave the next morning to look for her. Elsewhere, Eugene, Ezekiel, Yumiko, and Princess go through orientation at the Commonwealth; Yumiko reunites with her brother, Tomi. While Eugene tours the community with Stephanie, she offers to help him contact Alexandria on the radio. However, they are caught by soldiers of the community and placed under arrest, but are released on the orders of Lance Hornsby, the deputy governor and director of operations. Meanwhile, Maggie and Negan trudge through the woods and stop in an abandoned neighborhood house to wait for the others; they are eventually joined by Gabriel and Elijah. In Alexandria, Judith clashes with the local teenagers.

In "Out of the Ashes," the narrative of "The Walking Dead" Season 11 continues to build upon the complexities of survival and the ever-present threat of danger in a post-apocalyptic world. This episode explores the aftermath of a devastating attack on the survivors, highlighting their resilience in the face of adversity and their unwavering determination to rebuild amidst the ruins.

The episode opens with a somber tone, as the survivors mourn their losses and assess the damage inflicted by their enemies. This introspective beginning sets the stage for a character-driven narrative that focuses on the emotional fallout of the attack. As the episode progresses, we see the survivors grappling with feelings of grief, guilt, and anger, adding depth to their individual character arcs.

One of the most compelling aspects of "Out of the Ashes" is its exploration of leadership and community building. As the survivors come together to strategize and plan their next steps, we witness the emergence of new leaders and the strengthening of existing bonds. This theme is exemplified in a powerful scene where the group debates the best course of action, highlighting the importance of unity and collaboration in the face of adversity.

Visually, "Out of the Ashes" is striking, with cinematography that captures both the desolation of the landscape and the resilience of the human spirit. The use of light and shadow effectively conveys the mood of each scene, adding depth to the storytelling.

Overall, "Out of the Ashes" is a poignant and thought-provoking episode that explores the complexities of human nature in a world where survival is paramount. It is a testament to the strength of the series that, even in its eleventh season, it continues to deliver compelling narratives that resonate with audiences.

I cried because of Cailey Fleming.
grondonamanu16 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
What a fantastic actress. Her scene with Rosita/Christian Serratos is gut-wrenching. So is Melissa McBride's acting, but we already know that.

DISCLAIMER: for those who are very angry about the show for not getting enough 'action' let me remind you this is a DRAMA series (we need character development, people paying about their actions and human conflict) this isn't some Marvel or DC bulls***. Please go watch Spiderman or something, go away!!!

In episode 11x05 'Out of the Ashes' we get to see every plot about this last season. We get to see Maggie and Negan's conflict, we see Carol and the Alexandria's group searching for food, Eugene and The Commonwealth and finally, Judith and Rosita getting things in shape at home. Episode 11x06 looks VERY promising, hope it doesn't disappoint us...

Everything's getting together real fast! We are only 3 episodes left to the end of part 1 of Season 11. #sad.

Same continuity
AvionPrince1629 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Nice episode. We see a little more characters:. Eugene and the group at the commonwealth, Carol, Juliet(who have some sentimental problems), Stephanie. And a guy from the Alpha crew comed in Alaxandria and get tortured to have some infos from him. Negan and Maggie cant really understand each other and that make things more interesting for the next episodes. Need to see more. Same spirit as the other episodes and we still wondering what will happened after. Nice episode anyway. We know that the woman is still alive. The woman who cant hear and that make a new objective for our heroes. Interesting for now.

Good episode
aelthric12 September 2021
I only have one gripe and that is Ian Anthony Dale's fake English accent, don't get me wrong it isn't quite as bad as Dick Van Dykes in Mary Poppins but some of the enunciations are the same as Dick Van Dykes so when he and Eleanor Matsuura have a scene together it stands out all the more.

This is the problem when American actors try to mimic an English accent, their inflections are completely off and they mispronounce whilst mixing up some wierd hollywood idea of what a Londoner sounds like with an Oxford University Professor and it all comes out like a drunken Australian with a severe speech impedement with a mouth full of porridge.

Sorry but please give the guy a decent speech coach because he isn't a bad actor he just needs more attention to how to speak with an English Accent.

And on the subject of English accents in Hollywood / American TV there are many different accents to choose from, you have the typically Northern Accent (Yorkshire) like Sean Bean speaks, you have the Liverpool accent like the Beatles speak, the Midlands accent like Ozzie Ozborn speaks. There are lots more worthy of mention like the West Country accent, the Cumbrian accent, the Geordie accent and the Norfolk accent (Similar to West Country) and still this is just the tip of the iceberg.

So why is it we generally hear only the toff accent or some wierd Londoner accent as representing England?

I don't know. I see the ratings for this episode. I'm having trouble making it through. The scenery is changing but there is nothing new. It feels like Groundhog Day.

Really have to force myself to care and see the series out but I will carry on till the end.

Judith needs a big hug
hhoffman-3381719 November 2021
I feel so much sympathy for Judith, I just wish I could give her a hug and tell her she's gonna be okay, the acting is incredible and Casey Fleming is ONE OF THE best child actors. This season is getting better and better, by far good action too.
